I will tell you a story related to the election.

Mr. Yamaguchi, what comes to mind when you think of elections?

The election was really tough, after all.

What kind of things are tough?

My feet hurt so much, anyway.

I walk around and do some coasting as well.

Running around

You all are much more than I am.

The election team members had a tough time, didn't they?

It's really a test of physical strength, isn't it?

In elections, it's all about physical strength first and foremost.

No deaths and 5 health points.

Politics requires stamina first and foremost.

That's not it, though.

That's right.

So, what do we need during the election?

After all, sunscreen and...

Then I'm thirsty, so water.

Then, throat rain.

My throat is getting dry.

And then a handkerchief or something.

That's something essential, isn't it?

Also, defense.

And in some cases, an umbrella.

Well, there are times when the election campaign office prepares umbrellas for us.

So, I will no longer be defeated by the rain or the wind.

Not defeated by the snow.

I don't really wear gloves.

If you're going to wear gloves, you have to keep them on the whole time, right?

Recently, masks have become a necessity.

Well, there are all kinds of masks, right?

"Because of that"

When I ran for election for the first time,

I don't really want to talk about getting sunburned.

Please think about it.

Even if I'm not here, I'm originally a lawyer.

You're saying that you're getting sunburned that badly?

I was glad I didn't have to worry about it.

So, then.

It's burning fiercely.

I have spots on my face.

I've had a terrible experience.

So please, everyone, when you run for election.

"Be careful with sunscreen, I mean..."

と思います

I think so.

Mr. Yamaguchi's physical strength

I said it was a test of physical strength too, but...

Indeed, it's hot in summer.

During the cold winter.

"Election cars have their windows open."

You’re waving your hand, aren’t you?

That's why it's hot even with the air conditioner on.

Then during Prime Minister Abe's time,

There were two general elections in December, weren't there?

At that time, in the Tohoku region and Hokkaido as well.

Of course, I have the window open.

I'm placing a blanket over my knees.

There is a saying that snow can fall in.

This is my first time.

Is it when I first found shade under a tree?

When I went to Aomori.

By that streetlight in the snowstorm.

It seems like I can't see over there.

But right now I'm wearing a coat.

It's a bit strange to say to wear a scarf, but...

Is it somewhat of an aesthetic?

For example, there are people who say they don't wear coats.

When you say "Are you okay?"

"Well, actually, I’m wearing a lot of layers inside."

"But I am Mizuho Fukushima, raised in a tropical country."

A streetlight speech in the blizzard is...

It seems there are aspects that are hard to forget.

Well, in Okinawa, again that...

It's not teppanyaki.

It's actually getting really hot now.

The reflection from that road and various other things is also present.

Actually, Okinawa is cool when the wind blows or in the shade.

It's a bit different, but...

In some places, it can be really hot even in the city.

But supporting the elections is quite tough.

I guess there are some good things too.

As expected, I went out to the streetlight.

It's like a streetlight speech.

There's also the aspect of meeting various people.

I actually think it was probably my own election.

When I first ran for office.

It's not really cardboard, but...

Isn't that a mikan box?

I was talking about something like going to Yokohama while standing on top of that.

A woman offered to shake hands.

Since we are currently in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it's hard to shake hands.

It was hot that summer at that time.

I was sweating profusely.

I don't have a bag nearby.

I didn't have that handkerchief.

So I said I'm sorry to that person.

I was feeling a bit sweaty and had some sweat coming out.

I don't have a handkerchief on me right now.

I said something like "Please forgive me for being rude."

So after a while, I was doing a little streetlight speech again.

It's like that person I saw earlier has come back.

The same person came.

And surprisingly, that person handed it over to me.

It was a handkerchief.

So she's probably a girl who doesn't carry a handkerchief.

It's not that, but...

I thought you were all sweaty and drenched in sweat.

You brought me a handkerchief.

Please bring me a nice handkerchief from somewhere.

Yes, I thought I was happy.

When I'm at the streetlight, I tend to get a lot of mistakes.

Also, give me throat lozenges that make my throat hurt.

Also, they give me something that goes "shush shush."

And they also brought energy drinks.

I received a big grilled dish.

What do you call that?

They gave me things like grilled chicken skewers.

Delicious-looking yakitori near the station.

This is a very famous specialty around here.

Like getting yakitori, for example.

So I received various things.

I think it's kind of like a home delivery service.

But to really give something like that...

I believe you care about me.

That's appreciated.

Moreover, there isn't even time to eat.

Mr. Kojima is in the election.

そうです

That's right.

I went to both Kyushu and Okinawa as well as Niigata for the House of Councillors election.

Anyway, I have to move.

I hurriedly ate my lunch in the car while moving.

Do you remember?

Like rice balls, for example.

So, please do it properly.

During the elections,

It's not like I'm just eating slowly or anything.

It feels like something like rice balls.

No need for any further objections.

Yes, it's like "Let's go with this."

That's the kind of feeling, isn't it?

That's right.

そうね

That's right.

So it really is a test of stamina, isn't it?

You have to go around to different places every hour, right?

Everything is decided.

Of course, there can be last-minute decisions or changes.

Anyway,

Mr. Fukushima was taken away and spoke.

It's a continuous cycle of being taken somewhere and talking, right?

That's right.

I'm quite delicate, and my throat is also weak.

So it's pretty tough after all.

I think of it that way.

However, in terms of interacting with various people, such elections are also significant.

To someone I haven't met until now.

Places that I haven't been to very often until now.

Going to various places.

After all, it's about interacting with various people.

So, actually, there were various talks.

It's about my son, I guess.

It's tough to care for someone, isn't it?

Actually, I was up all night yesterday, and I'm just a nursing helper.

"I'm here after staying up all night."

After all, hearing various stories on the street corner...

After all, it's very important.

I feel like that kind of interaction is...

I truly believe it's something irreplaceable.

After all, elections are tough but fun, right?

In that sense.

Yamaguchi-san, you often say good things, don't you?

I can meet various people.

I've heard various stories.

And that circle is expanding.

It's a really fun place, isn't it?

That's right.

That is the charm of elections.
