まず、お座敷では何をするの?

First, what do you do in the tatami room?

お座敷では、私たちの芸を見てもらうというのはもちろんなんですけれども、

In the parlor, of course, we want you to see our performance, but...

お客様のそばに行って、お食をしたり、ご挨拶に回らせていただいています。

We go to your side to have a meal and to greet you.

あと、お座敷遊びもやります。

Also, we will have traditional seating entertainment.

お座敷遊びって何?

What is a sitting room game?

お座敷遊びは、そのお座敷にあるもので遊ぶので、お座敷遊びと言います。

"Ozashiki play is called that because it involves playing with the things in the room."

ですので、そこにある道具、例えば、昔だったらお扇子で仰いでたら東仙峡というものがあったりとか、

Therefore, there were tools there, for example, back in the day, if you fanned yourself with a folding fan, there was something called Tosenkyo.

あとは屏風があったらトラトラというようなお座敷遊びがあったりとか、

そういう具合にそこのもので遊んで、負けますとお酒を飲むという、

どんなゲームがあるの?

トラトラというゲームがあるんですけれども、

There is a game called Toratora, but...

二人で対戦するんですけれども、間に屏風を挟んで人間じゃんけんをするという遊びですね。

It's a game where two people face off, but they play rock-paper-scissors with a folding screen in between.

で、トラトーラトーラトラっていう曲に合わせて踊ったり、最初はするんですけど、

So, at first we dance to a song called "Toratoratoratora," but...

最終的に二人が屏風から出てくるんですけど、それがグージョキパーの役割で、

Eventually, the two come out from behind the folding screen, and that is the role of Gujokipar.

トラとワトーナイとオブジェ、

おばあさんという三つのキャラクターを体で表現するというお遊びです。

It's a playful activity that involves expressing three characters as a grandmother with your body.

それで、トラに勝つにはワトーナイ。

So, to win against a tiger, it's water.

ワトーナイというのは漁師なんですけれども、加藤清政と言われている方で、

Watonai is a fisherman, and the person referred to is Kato Kiyomasa.

それで加藤清政さんに勝つにはおばあさん。

To win against Kato Kiyomasa, you need an old lady.

どうしておばあさんかと言いますと、

The reason I say "grandmother" is that,

おばあさんは加藤清政さんのお母様に当たるので、

The grandmother is the mother of Kato Kiyomasa, so...

頭が上がらないということでお母さんの勝ち。

The victory goes to mom because I can't hold my head up.

で、お母さんに勝つにはやはりトラですね。

So, to win against my mother, it's definitely the tiger.

かぶりと一飲みです。

It's a single gulp.

そういった具合で、三つのキャラクターでじゃんけんをするというお遊びですね。

In that way, it's a game where three characters play rock-paper-scissors.

体を使ったじゃんけんという形ですよね。

It's a form of rock-paper-scissors using the body, isn't it?

あれ、面白いのが、やっている本人たちは屏風が真ん中に挟んであって、

The interesting thing is that the people performing are separated by a folding screen in the middle.

お互いの何を出すかが見えないんですよ。

ですけど、お席に座っているお客様は、その屏風の中の様子が見えるので、

扇子を使う投扇鏡って、どんなゲーム?

What kind of game is the fan-throwing game using a folding fan?

難しい。

Difficult.

いやでも、簡単に言えばあれですよね。

Well, simply put, it's that, right?

その的があって、それに扇子を投げて当てて、

You have that target, and you throw a fan at it to hit.

で、その的が扇子に当たるから落ちるんですけど、

So, it falls because the target hits the fan.

本当のルールだと、落ちた、その、落ち方。

The real rule is the way you fall when you fall.

落ち方で、その、なんか、きれい、きれいじゃないっていうか、

いろんな役があるんですよね。

出た後、緊張の糸が切れて、組合に帰って、なんかその、白塗りのまんま、

福間のお姉さんの優しさで、布団が敷かれていて、そこで、

僕も、お座敷遊びを体験してみたい。

でも、芸者さんを呼ぶって、敷居が高いイメージなんだけど、その、お高いんでしょ?

But calling a geisha has a high barrier to entry, and it seems expensive, right?

How much?

うーん、そうですね。あの、フライス的には、あの、まあ、私たちも公表してるんで、

Hmm, well, as for the milling aspect, we are also publicly disclosing it, so...

特に、あの、躊躇しないって言うんですけど、一人芸者を呼ぶのに2万5千円なんですけれども、

Especially, they say they don't hesitate, but it's 25,000 yen to call a geisha alone.

その2万5千円で2時間一緒にいられるっていう設定なんですけれども、

It's a setup where you can be together for two hours for 25,000 yen.

それで、えっと、踊りを、踊りと三味線を呼んでくださるとなると、まあ、簡単に言うと5万円ですよね。

So, um, if you're requesting the dance and shamisen, then, simply put, it's 50,000 yen.

それで、まあ、消費税だったりとか、あとは車代とかかかっちゃったりとかするんですけれども、

So, well, there are things like consumption tax and also expenses for transportation, but...

でも、それを人数分で割るとなると、例えば10人で2人を呼ぶとなると、1人5千円ぐらいずつ分けあれば、一緒に遊べるよっていう具合ですね。

However, if we divide that by the number of people, for example, if we invite 2 people for 10 people, if we each share about 5,000 yen, then we can all have fun together.

いいねー。みんなで割り勘すれば、そんなに高くないね。

Sounds good! If we split it among everyone, it's not that expensive.

そうですね。

That's right.

消費税もやっぱり、あの、決まっていますし、飲み代がかさまっちゃうと大変なことになるかもしれないですけど、えー、それぐらいでしょうかね。

The consumption tax is also set, and if the drinking expenses pile up, it could become a big problem, but, uh, I think that's about it.

でも、飲み放題とかもね、結構ね、プランであるから、そうすれば、私たちが飲んでいようが、お客様が飲んでいようが、定額ですからね。

Well, there are plans for things like all-you-can-drink, so if that’s the case, whether we are drinking or the customers are drinking, it’s a fixed price.

お座敷がある料亭じゃないとダメなの?

Does it have to be a traditional inn with a tatami room?

え、そんなことないです。

どこでも貸し切って、お店に入れられます。

You can rent it out anywhere and enter the store.

お店を貸し切って、芸者を呼ぶっていうパターンもありますし、私なんか最近は、あの、その、お客様のお宅行って、お座敷遊びをしたっていうのもあります。

There's also the option of renting out a shop and calling a geisha, and recently I've even gone to customers' homes to engage in traditional entertainment.

えー、すごい。

それはナイス。ホームパーティーに芸者さんが来てくれたら、絶対楽しいね。

やはり、目ですかね。

As I thought, it's the eyes, isn’t it?

目とか眉毛。

Eyes and eyebrows.

眉毛も、つり上がったりとか、洋風にならないように、ささ眉にして描いたりするのが、私的には好きなんですけれども。

I personally like to draw my eyebrows in a way that they don't look raised or too Western, keeping them more straight and subtle.

それと、目も。

And the eyes, too.

でも、その、場面にもよるんですけど、舞台だったりとか、普通のお座敷によっても、メイクの仕方は変わってきたりするんですけれども、ちょっと、切れ長にするような感じには、私はしています。

Well, it depends on the situation, but the way makeup is applied can change depending on whether it's on stage or in a regular setting. I tend to aim for a slightly elongated look.

ささ眉って何?

What are feathered eyebrows?

あの、ささの歯があるじゃないですか。ささの歯。

Um, there are the barbs, you know? The barbs.

ささの歯のように、なんか、まっすぐ目に。まあまあ、私もちょっと、まっすぐ目なんですけれども。

Like the teeth of a bamboo, somehow, it's straight-eyed. Well, well, I also have slightly straight eyes, though.

そういった感じに描くと、日本風なお顔立ちになるっていう。

If you draw it that way, it will resemble a Japanese-style face.

で、顔のパーツにもよるんですけれども、目と眉毛の間が、ちょっと広くすると、和っぽく見えるんですよね。

Well, it depends on the facial features, but if you make the space between the eyes and eyebrows a bit wider, it tends to look more Japanese.

目と眉毛が近いと、やっぱり洋風になってしまう感じがするので、私はそこを気をつけてやっています。

When the eyes and eyebrows are close together, I feel it gives a Western look, so I'm mindful of that when I do my makeup.

まあ、元から和風な顔してますけどね。

Well, you already have a Japanese-style face.

カディンちゃん、どうぞ。

でも、お姉さんがお話ししてた目っていうのは、確かに一番特徴が出ますよね。

However, the eyes that you were talking about, big sister, certainly show the most characteristics, don't they?

本当に、組合のお姉さんたちでも、それぞれ、誰も同じ目の形のメイクっていないと思うんですよ。

Really, I don't think any of the union ladies have the same eye makeup shape as each other.

ラインの引き方だったり、あと私たち、黒いアイラインの他に、赤いアイシャドウっていうんですかね、目張りっていうんですけど、それをしていて、その形だったり、大きさだったり、それによっても、

It's about how we draw the lines, and also we use red eyeshadow in addition to black eyeliner, which we call "membrane," and depending on the shape and size of that...

ちょっとかっこいい系になったり、可愛い系になったり、眉以外にもそういう要素がありますね。

It has elements like looking a bit cool or cute, not just with the eyebrows.

私の個人的なメイクのポイントは、唇が結構重要なのかなって思います。

I think my personal makeup point is that the lips are quite important.

唇、どういう風に描く?

How should I draw the lips?

唇は、唇って本当に人それぞれだと思うんですけど、私が思う白塗りは、本当に口は小さく、

I believe lips vary for each person, but the white makeup I envision has really small lips.

そうだね。チョコボイト。

That's right. Chocoboito.

普通の、はい。

Normal, yes.

おちょこぶち。

Little annoying brat.

I can't say it.

おちょぼぐち。

Pouty lips.

そうです。なんか、普通のメイクのように描くと、大きすぎたりもするし、でも大きすぎるからって小さく描くと、人によってはやっぱりバランスがおかしくて、

That's right. When I draw it like normal makeup, sometimes it turns out too big, but if I draw it smaller just because it's too big, for some people the balance still looks off.

で、私最初たぶん、ふくまどおれいさんに唇は小さく描いた方がいいよって教えていただいて、

So, at first, I was probably advised by Fukumado Orei-san that it's better to描く the lips smaller.

特に上唇とか小さく描いた方がいいよって教えていただいて、

I was advised that it's better to draw the upper lip smaller, especially.

私の場合、そもそもの上唇が本当になくて、もう上唇の存在が線なんですよ。

In my case, I really don't have an upper lip to begin with; the existence of my upper lip is just a line.

で、その、で、教えていただいたからとって、やっぱり人それぞれの顔なので、やっぱない、ない上唇はちゃんと描いた方がいいなと思いまして、

Well, um, since you told me that, I realize that everyone's face is different, so I think it's important to properly depict the upper lip as well.

最近、上唇ちゃんと描くようになって、なんか、唇がちゃんとあるなっていう。

Recently, I've started drawing my upper lip properly, and it feels like I actually have lips now.

あと山形の方がいいですよね、なんかしっかりと。

Also, Yamagata is better, isn't it? It feels more solid somehow.

そうね。

That's right.

あの、この溝っていうんですか?唇の。

Um, is this what you call the groove? The one on the lips?

は、あの、何にもなしに、結構あの洋風の化粧とかだと、この山消したりすると。

Um, well, if you do nothing and just apply Western-style makeup, it can erase this mountain.

え、ほんと?逆じゃない?

Huh, really? Isn't it the opposite?

え、消しません?ここ。

Huh, aren't you going to erase this?

え、逆、逆用?

Huh, reverse, reverse use?

え、なんか石原さとみさんとかのメイクが流行ったときとか、消してる方多いイメージです。

I have the impression that many people erased their makeup when the trend of celebrities like Satomi Ishihara became popular.

かけるようになるの、すごい難しくて、今も研究中なんですけど、本当に難しいですよね。

化粧が増えてきてるからなんですけど

そういうのを全部取り入れながら
