선함과 기쁨과 온전함을 추구함 (로마서 12:2)

로마스 12장 2절 한절이니까 두 번에 걸쳐서 읽도록 하겠습니다.

Since it's a single verse from Romans 12:2, I will read it twice.

12장 2절 같이 읽겠습니다.

Let's read together, Romans 12:2.

너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아

Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

하나님의 선하시고 기쁘하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라.

Discern what the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God is.

너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아

Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

하나님의 선하시고 기쁘하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라.

Discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

아멘. 자리에 앉아주시기 바랍니다.

Amen. Please take your seats.

제가 청소년 사역을 하던 때에 첫 회 고3 부서를 제가 맡았는데요.

When I was doing youth ministry, I was in charge of the first-year high school seniors department.

이 고3 입시생들이다 보니까 예배를 맡았고

Since these are high school seniors preparing for entrance exams, I took charge of the worship.

굉장히 일찍 드렸던 기억이 납니다.

I remember giving it very early.

그게 아침 7시였던지 8시였던지

Whether it was 7 a.m. or 8 a.m.

겨울에는 해도 뜨기 전에 예배를 드리거든요.

In winter, we hold worship services before the sun rises.

그때 예배도 앞에서 찬양팀이 먼저 찬양으로 예배의 문을 열곤 했는데요.

Back then, the worship team would often open the service with praise in front.

그러면 저는 맨 뒤에서 예배 드리러 오는 이 아이들을 제가 맞아주는 겁니다.

Then I will welcome these children who come to worship from the very back.

숫자가 그때 한 몇십 명밖에 안 되니까

At that time, there were only a few dozen people.

제가 그 이름을 다 외우고

I memorized all those names.

얼굴로만 읽고

Read only by looking at the face.

얼굴을 다 외워서

I memorized all the faces.

의도적으로 애들이 오면

Intentionally, when the kids come.

이름을 불러주고

Call out my name.

심지어는 카드를 계속 묵상을 하다 보니까

Even while continuously meditating on the cards...

가족 내용이 다 담겨있는 카드를

A card that contains all the family information.

계속 그때는 결혼도 하기 전이고

At that time, I wasn't even married yet.

총각되고 혼자 사니까 심심해서

Since I became single and live alone, I'm bored.

계속 애들 카드를 읽었더니

I kept reading the kids' cards.

쑥 들어오는데

You come in quietly.

얼굴을 보면서 이름이 기억날 뿐 아니라

Not only do I remember the name, but I also recognize the face.

형도 기억이 날 때가 있습니다.

Sometimes I remember too, brother.

형 이름이 누구는 잘 있냐고

Is your brother doing well?

그러면 얘가 막 화들짝 놀라죠.

Then this kid gets really startled.

이렇게 큰 교회에서

In such a large church

자기 형 이름을 아는 경우는 처음 본다.

It's the first time I've seen someone who knows their older brother's name.

뭐 이런 식으로 이제 제가 뒤에서

What do you mean by me being like this from behind now?

아이들을 이제 맞아주고 환영하고 그랬는데

I welcomed and greeted the children now.

한 번은 찬양팀이 찬양을 시작을 하고

Once, the praise team began to praise.

제가 뒤에서 아이들을 맞이하고 있으니까

I'm welcoming the children from the back.

한 녀석이 밤새 술을 마신 거예요.

One guy spent the whole night drinking.

그래서 이렇게 들어오는데

So that's how I come in like this.

술 냄새가 훅 풍기는데

The smell of alcohol is really strong.

보니까 아직 제정신이 없어서요.

I see that you still aren't in your right mind.

제정신이 아닙니다.

I'm out of my mind.

그래도 이 상황에

Still, in this situation.

제정신이 아닌 상황에

In a state of mind that is not right.

술 냄새를 풍기면서도

While reeking of alcohol

예배 드리러 오는 게 너무 귀하잖아요.

It's really precious that you're coming to worship.

그래서 자랐다 자랐다 그러면서

So I grew up, grew up, and along the way...

등을 두드려서 안내했던 기억이 있습니다.

I remember being guided by someone patting my back.

이게 뭐 한 30몇 년 전 이야기거든요.

This is a story from about 30 years ago.

그런데 이번에 이 말씀을 준비하다가

By the way, while preparing this message this time...

그 아이 생각이 쑥 떠오르는 겁니다.

I suddenly thought of that child.

그날 얘는 무슨 그렇게 괴롭고 힘든 일이 있어서

That day, something was so troubling and difficult for him/her that...

그렇게 술을 마셨는지

Did I drink like that?

밤새도록 마시고

Drinking all night long.

새벽이 되고 아침이 됐는데도

Even after dawn and morning have come.

술이 덜 깬 상태로 그렇게 교회로 왔을까

Did you come to church like that, still feeling the effects of the alcohol?

그리고 또 뭐가 이 아이에게 독력이 돼가지고

And what else has become poison for this child?

그렇게 이른 아침에 술도 덜 깬 상태에도

Even in a state of still being not fully sober that early in the morning

교회는 가야 된다

I have to go to church.

이런 마음을 갖게 했을까

Did I develop such feelings?

이게 제 마음에 참 감동이 되는

This truly touches my heart.

그것을 제가 경험을 했습니다.

I have experienced that.

그런가 하면 최근에 저는

On the other hand, recently I have been

우리 교회에 청년 한 사람을 만났는데

I met a young person at our church.

이 청년은 바로 얼마 전에 직전에

This young man just a little while ago right before.

자살을 시도했던

attempted suicide

그야말로 삶이 거의 끝에 다다랐다 할 정도로

It can truly be said that life has almost reached its end.

마음이 지금 제가 불안하고 두렵고 하는

I feel anxious and scared right now.

그런 청년인데요.

He's that kind of young man.

너무 마음이 아픈 게

It hurts so much.

부모님이 이혼하신 상태고

My parents are divorced.

또 오랜 별거를 부모님이 했기 때문에

Because my parents have had a long separation again.

혼자서 생활을 하기 때문에 더 불안한 겁니다.

I feel more anxious because I'm living alone.

그래서 누구 도와줄 사람은

So, is there anyone who can help?

아무도 없다는 거예요.

No one is here.

우리 청년부 담당 목사님이 지금

Our youth pastor is currently

계속 만나서 병원에도 같이 가주고

I will continue to meet you and go to the hospital together.

그렇게 계속하고 있다고 그러는데

They say they are still continuing like that.

이 친구가 하는 말이

What this friend is saying

자기는 그냥 죽는 게 낫다는 거예요.

They say it’s better to just die.

아무도 지금 도와주는 사람 없고 혼자 사는데

No one is helping me right now, and I'm living alone.

이래갖고 이 아이가 어떻게 되겠나 싶어서

I wonder how this child will turn out like this.

제가 너무 마음이 절박했는데요.

I was feeling very desperate.

그래도 이 청년에게 제가 감사했던

Still, I was thankful to this young man.

건 완전히 희망의 불씨가 다 꺼진 상태인데

The fire of hope has completely been extinguished.

이 마음에서 SOS가 느껴지는 겁니다.

I can feel an SOS from this heart.

희망의 불씨를 이만큼이라도

Even this much of a spark of hope.

목사님이 보여주신다면 저는 살고 싶습니다.

If the pastor shows me, I want to live.

그래서 제가 우리 교회에

So I am at our church.

굉장히 좋은 어른들이 많으시고

There are many really good adults.

상담을 또 잘하시는 분이 많으신데

There are many people who are also good at counseling.

내가 오늘 예배 시간에

During today's worship service

형제의 케이스를 좀 얘기해도 되겠냐 하니까

Can I talk a bit about my brother's case?

이러면 내가 안 밝힐 것이다.

If this is the case, I won't reveal it.

그랬더니 대부분 이름 밝히는 거 원하지 않는데

Most of them don't want to reveal their names.

이 친구는 이름 밝혀도 괜찮아요.

It's okay to reveal this friend's name.

이 툭 나온 말이에요.

This is something that just slipped out.

이름 밝혀도 괜찮아요.

It's okay to reveal my name.

어떤 상태인지 아시겠죠?

You know what state it's in, right?

죽고 싶은데 살고 싶은 거예요.

I want to die, but I also want to live.

하나님에 대한 원망과 분노가 꽉 차 있는데

There is a lot of resentment and anger towards God.

제가 한 시간 오해다라고 설명을 하니까

When I explained that it was a misunderstanding for an hour,

또 수용도 잘해요.

I'm also good at acceptance.

하나님에 대한 분노가 있는데

There is anger toward God.

하나님을 붙잡고 싶고

I want to hold on to God.

하나님을 복수하고 싶대요.

They want to take revenge on God.

내가 스스로 목숨을 끊는 게

Me taking my own life.

이게 하나님께 복수하는 거라고

This is revenge against God.

이런 이야기를 하면서도

Even while talking about such things

여전히 하나님이 자기에게

Still, God to Himself

구원의 손길을 주기를 기다리는

Waiting for a helping hand of salvation.

그런 청년이란 말이죠.

That kind of young man, you know.

제가 이 설교를 하면서

As I give this sermon

우리 성도님 중에

Among our congregation

혹시라도 이 청년

This young man, just in case.

밥이라도 한 번

Let's have a meal sometime.

그런데 한 번 만나고

But let's meet once.

또 어른이 바뀌고

And the adults change again.

한 번 만나고 어른이 바뀌고

After meeting once, the adult changes.

이건 좀 곤란하니까

This is a bit difficult.

어느 정도라도

To some extent

지속적으로 이 형제에게 말뿟이 돼주고

Continuously be supportive of this brother.

또 어떤 조그마한 실마리 하나

Yet another small clue.

이거 하나 붙잡게 해주면

If you let me hold onto this one thing

이 형제는 다시 회복이 될 것 같다는 생각이 드는 거예요.

I have a feeling that this brother will recover again.

그래서 제가 이 청년을 만나고 나서

So after I met this young man,

계속 이제 마음에 맴도는데요.

It keeps lingering in my mind now.

제가 이 말씀을 준비하면서

As I was preparing for this message,

이 청년을 만나고 나서

After meeting this young man

두 청년 고3 부서에

To the two young men in the 3rd year high school department.

술 잔뜩 먹고 교회를 왔던

I came to church after drinking a lot.

30몇 년 전에

Over 30 years ago.

제 제자 생각하고

Thinking about my disciple.

최근에 만났던 이 청년 생각하고가

Think about the young man I met recently.

계속 제 마음을 두드리는 이유가 있습니다.

There is a reason that keeps knocking on my heart.

여러분이 다 아시지만

As you all know,

자꾸 우리 청년들이 요즘에

Our young people these days keep...

교회를 떠난다는 이런 이야기들이

Stories about leaving the church like this

너무 많이 들려지는 겁니다.

It's too much to hear.

그리고 왜 교회를 떠나느냐고 하는 통계를 보면

And looking at the statistics on why people leave the church...

너무 마음이 아파요.

My heart hurts so much.

교회가 재미가 없다.

The church is not fun.

그리고 또 교회 가는 게 나 시간 아깝다.

And also, I feel like it's a waste of my time to go to church.

교회를 어릴 때부터 부모님이 가라 그래서 다니지만

I've been going to church since I was young because my parents told me to.

의미를 못 찾는 거거든요.

It's about not being able to find meaning.

그러니까 그 두 청년의 상황이

So the situation of those two young men is

제게는 희망의 끈이 될지 모르겠다.

It may become a lifeline of hope for me.

너무나 입시 고3으로 삶이 힘들고 어려워서

Life as a third-year high school student preparing for college entrance exams is really tough and difficult.

밤새 술을 먹고도

Even after drinking all night

그래도 교회는 가야 된다.

Still, you have to go to church.

그래서 좀 미숙한 교회 같으면

So if it's a somewhat inexperienced church...

얼마나 야단치겠습니까?

How much will you scold?

네 제정신이냐?

Are you out of your mind?

어디서 술 처먹고 교회를 오느냐고

"Where are you coming from drinking at a bar to come to church?"

그랬을 거 아니냐고요.

Wasn't it?

저 그렇게 안 했습니다.

I didn't do that.

잘했다. 잘했다.

Well done. Well done.

어떤 경우라도 교회 오는 건 잘하는 거야.

Regardless of the situation, coming to church is a good thing.

그래서 제가 얘를 예배당의 의자에 앉혀주고

So I sat him down on the pew in the chapel.

그렇게 제가 30몇 년 전 이야기가 떠올려진다면

If I recall a story from over 30 years ago,

계속 이제 어떻게 하면 우리 청년들이

What should we do now to support our youth?

이 교회를

This church

자기 삶에 의미 있는 곳이라고

A place that has meaning in one's life.

생각할 수 있게 만들 수 있을까

Can I make you think?

그러고 있는데요.

I'm in the middle of doing that.

유튜브 영상으로 보다 보니까

As I was watching the YouTube video...

마틴 로이드 존스 목사님도

Pastor Martyn Lloyd-Jones as well

이런 고뇌를 하신 적이 있는 것 같아요.

I think you may have experienced such anguish.

뭐 현재도 수많은 저희 같은 목사들에게

Well, currently there are many pastors like us.

설교와 강의의 정석을 보여주신 분인데요.

He is someone who has demonstrated the textbook example of preaching and lecturing.

로이드 존스 목사님이 이제 은퇴하신 그 시점에는

At the point when Pastor Lloyd Jones has now retired,

지금의 우리나라랑 똑같습니다.

It is just like our country now.

사회가 막 급속히 이제 세속화가 되고

Society is rapidly becoming secular now.

교회는 무기력하고

The church is powerless.

그래서 교회가 쇠퇴하기 시작한 그런 시점인데요.

So, it was around the time when the church began to decline.

로이드 존스 목사님이 이런 말을 하셨더라고요.

Pastor Lloyd-Jones once said something like this.

오늘날에는 젊은이들이 교회 나올 수 없다고 합니다.

It is said that young people cannot go to church nowadays.

왜냐하면 젊은이들에게는 교회가 재미없는 것으로 보이기 때문입니다.

Because to young people, the church seems boring.

그러면서 이 강의 설교의 대가 목사님이 하시는 말씀을 씁니다.

Meanwhile, I write down what the master pastor of this lecture sermon is saying.

교회는 이 세상에서 가장 재미있고 감동적인

The church is the most fun and touching place in this world.

고시여야 합니다.

It must be a public examination.

만일 교회가 그러지 못한다면 우리는 다소간의 성령을 소멸하고 있는 것입니다.

If the church cannot do so, we are somewhat quenching the Holy Spirit.

너무 제가 놀랐습니다.

I was very surprised.

우리는 자꾸 이제 성령 이러면은 세상과는 다르고

When we talk about the Holy Spirit, it is different from the world.

약간 지루해도 우리가 견뎌야 되고 그래야 되는데

Even if it's a bit boring, we have to endure, and that's how it should be.

이 엄청난 대가는 그게 아니에요.

This immense price is not it.

성령 충만은 세상에서 경험할 수 없는 재미를 제공해주고

The fullness of the Holy Spirit provides joy that cannot be experienced in the world.

의미를 제공해주고 거기에 삶의 기회를,

Provide meaning and opportunities for life,

기쁨을 제공해주는 것이라고 한다면

It is said to be something that provides joy.

저 같은 목회자는 말할 것도 없고

Not to mention pastors like me.

오늘 우리 기성세대의 크리스찬들이

Today, our generation of Christians...

우리 다음 세대에게 굉장히 나쁜 가이드이지 않을까

Isn't it a very bad guide for our next generation?

저는 종종 저 자신은 그렇게 생각해요.

I often think of myself that way.

너무나 재미있는 시나리오를 재미가 하나도 없게 만드는

A very interesting scenario that makes it completely devoid of fun.

나는 영화감독 같은 사람 아닌가?

Aren't I someone like a film director?

너무나 하나님의 이 대본이 너무너무 좋은데

God's script is just so, so good.

나는 이 대본을 그냥 막 다 졸게 만드는

I just make this script boring.

이런 시나리오를 만들고 있는 것 같아요.

It seems like you're creating a scenario like this.

나는 이 대본을 그냥 막 다 졸게 만드는 이런 시나리오를 만들고 있는 것 같아요.

I feel like I'm just creating a script that makes everyone fall asleep.

이런 재미없는 영화감독 아닌가?

Isn't this a boring movie director?

어떻게 생각하십니까?

What do you think?

그래서 저는 요즘에 교회가 추구하는 재미,

So these days, I'm pursuing the fun that the church seeks.

교회가 추구하는 감동이 어떤 것이어야 하는가?

What kind of emotion should the church pursue?

여러분 설마 청년들이 교회가 재미가 없어

Surely, the young people don’t find the church to be boring, right?

그 말이 교회에는 무슨 야한 영화도 안 틀어주고

That means the church doesn't even play any adult movies.

교회는 재미없어 그런 얘기는 아니잖아요.

It's not like I'm saying the church is boring.

이 아이가 교회에서의 재미를 기대하는 건 그런 게 아닐 텐데

I don't think this child is expecting fun at church for that reason.

그럼 뭘 해야지?

So what should I do?

회복해야 되는 건가?

Do I need to recover?

그러다가 제가 또 올린 말씀이

Then I mentioned again that...

오늘 본문 로마스 12장 2절입니다.

Today's scripture is Romans 12:2.

아마 제가 개척한 이후로

Since I probably pioneered it.

가장 많이 본문으로 잡았던 게

The thing I focused on the most was the text.

로마스 12장 1절과 2절일 것입니다.

It will be Romans 12:1 and 2.

너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고

Do not conform to this world.

오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아

By renewing your mind, receive transformation.

하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고

God's good and pleasing.

온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분변하도록 하라.

Let us discern what the perfect will is.

여러분!

Everyone!

교회가 이 세상이 주지 못하는 재미와 감동

The fun and inspiration that the church offers, which the world cannot provide.

이 세상이 주지 못하는 재미와 의미를 주는 곳으로 거듭나기 위해서는

In order to transform into a place that provides fun and meaning that this world cannot offer.

오늘 교회가 변해야 돼요.

Today, the church needs to change.

교회는 인간의 생각이 난무하는 곳이 아닙니다.

The church is not a place where human thoughts run rampant.

교회는 인간의 지식이 난무하는 곳이 아니고

The church is not a place where human knowledge runs rampant.

설교는 인간의 세상의 학문을 자랑하는 곳이 아니에요.

A sermon is not a place to boast about human knowledge and studies.

교회는 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지를

The church is what God's will is.

분별하는 곳이어야 돼요.

It should be a place of discernment.

다락방에서

In the attic

한 3시간, 4시간 이야기를 나눈다 하더라도

Even if we talk for about 3 or 4 hours.

무슨 얘기를 나누시느냐고요.

What are you talking about?

다락방에서

In the attic

모든 우리 순장님과 순원들과

To all our leaders and members.

모든 다락방이 추구해야 되는 것은

What every attic should aspire to is

다락방에서 머리를 맞대고 연구해야 되는 것은

What needs to be studied with heads together in the attic is

하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지를 분별하는 거거든요.

It is to discern what God's will is.

그래서 설교도 그런 기준으로 준비가 되어져야 되고

So the sermon also needs to be prepared based on those criteria.

또 성경 공부도

Also, Bible study.

모든 기준으로 준비가 되어져야 되고

Everything must be prepared according to all standards.

모든 것도 하나님을 알고

All things know God.

그분의 뜻을 분별하는 거

Discerning His will.

여기에서 교회가 이렇게 재미가 하나도 없고

Churches here are just not fun at all.

의미가 없고 교회 가면 시간만 아깝다.

It has no meaning, and going to church is just a waste of time.

그래서 청년들이 교회를 떠나는 이런 일들을

So, these events of young people leaving the church.

이제는 방지할 정도가 아니라

It's no longer a matter of prevention.

떠나갔던 아이들을 저는 내년에

I will see the children who left next year.

교회에 지금 대학부 청년부 나오지 않는

Young adults from the university department are not currently attending church.

많은 우리 교회 청년들이

Many young people in our church

다시 교회로 연어처럼 되돌아오는 것을 꿈꾸고 있습니다.

I dream of returning to the church like a salmon.

기도해 주시기를 바랍니다.

I hope you will pray for me.

내년에 대학부에서

In the college division next year.

내년에 대학부 청년부를 완전히 다 뜯어고칠 거거든요.

I'm completely going to overhaul the university youth department next year.

그래서 재미를 느끼고 의미를 부여하고

So you feel enjoyment and give meaning.

술을 먹고 나서라도 교회를 찾아야 되고

Even after drinking, you have to find your way to church.

나는 이제 이미 한 번 이 형제는 자살을 시도했고

I already tried to commit suicide once.

그러더라고요.

They said so.

목사님 나는 하나님이 죽지도 못하게 해요.

Pastor, I won't let God die.

이 불안불안한 이 청년이 그래도

This anxious young man, still...

목사님을 찾고 목사님과 대화하고 싶어하고

I want to find the pastor and talk to him.

교회가 추구하는 재미가 뭔가 의미가 뭔가

What is the fun that the church pursues, and what does it mean?

그래서 저는 오늘 이런 맥락에서

So today, in this context, I...

우리가 이제 교회가 하나님의 뜻을 분별하는

We are now discerning God's will as a church.

그런 교회가 돼야 되는데

It should be such a church.

여기 보니까요. 본문에서

I see here. In the main text.

하나님 뜻을 분별하는 재료로

As a means to discern God's will.

도구가 한 세 가지 정도 쓰여져 있더라는 겁니다.

It seems that about three tools were used.

그래서 이걸 제가 오늘 우리 모두가 이제

So I will take this today for all of us now.

추구해야 되는 대안이라고 생각하는데요.

I think it is an alternative that should be pursued.

이걸 제가 질문 형식으로 한 번 풀어나가려고 합니다.

I will try to approach this in the form of a question.

자 여러분 오늘 교회가

Alright everyone, today the church is

추구해야 될 대안이 세 가지가 있다면

If there are three alternatives that need to be pursued,

이런 질문을 제가 드리고 싶습니다.

I would like to ask this question.

첫 번째 질문이 뭐냐.

What is the first question?

교회는 하나님의 선함을 추구하는 공동체인가?

Is the church a community that seeks God's goodness?

그게 12장 2절에 나오지 않습니까?

Doesn't it appear in chapter 12, verse 2?

너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고

Do not conform to this generation.

오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아

Receive change by renewing your mind.

하나님의 선하시고예요.

God is good.

하나님의 뜻을 분별하는 것은

Discerning God's will is

하나님의 선하심을 찾아내는 거예요.

It is discovering God's goodness.

하나님의 속성 자체가 선함이시거든요.

The very nature of God is goodness.

역대상 16장 34절

1 Chronicles 16:34

영원하께 감사하라.

Give thanks forever.

그는 선하심이에요.

He is benevolent.

그분의 속성이 영원함이 너무너무 중요한 속성인데

His attribute of eternality is a very, very important attribute.

그건 그다음 나오네요.

That will come next.

하나님께 감사하라.

Give thanks to God.

그는 선하심이요.

He is goodness.

그의 인자하심이 영원함이로다.

His mercy endures forever.

그분의 선하심이에요.

It is His goodness.

하나님께서요.

God.

이민생활하던 저에게

To me, who was living as an immigrant

청소년 사회에 대한 사명을 주시고

Give us a mission for the youth community.

목사가 되었고

He became a pastor.

목사가 되도록 그렇게 저에게 콜해 주셨고

You called me to become a pastor like that.

거기에 제가 응답을 했을 때

When I responded there

가장 먼저 제게 주신 성경 말씀이 하나 있습니다.

There is one Bible verse that you gave me first.

하나님이 저에게 주신 첫 번째 성경 말씀이

The first Bible verse that God gave me is

디모대전서 3장 1절입니다.

This is 1 Timothy chapter 3, verse 1.

미쁘다 이 말이요.

This is my faithful word.

곧 사람이 감독의 직분을 얻으려 하면

Soon, if a person seeks to obtain the position of a director,

선한 일을 사모한다미로다.

I long for good deeds.

목사 복잡하게 생각하지 마라.

Pastor, don't think too complicatedly.

능력 자꾸 이런 걸로 제가 위축이 돼 있으니까
