예술을 별로 좋아하지 않는 이유는 정말로 그림을 못 그리기 때문입니다

The reason I don't really like art is that I truly cannot draw.

있는 그대로 그리는 것도 저는 못할 뿐만 아니라

Not only can I not draw as it is, but...

무엇을 상상해서 그리는 것은 더욱 못합니다

I cannot even draw what I imagine.

저는 문학이나 예술을 하는 사람들은 모두가 다

I believe that everyone who engages in literature or art is all.

아주 남다른 상상력과 표현력을 가지고 있다고 생각되어서

I believe they have an exceptional imagination and expressiveness.

예술을 하는 분들을 참 존경합니다

I truly respect those who create art.

어떻게 그렇게 상상할 수 있을까 하는 것과

How can you imagine something like that?

어떻게 그 상상한 것을 그렇게 표현할 수 있을까 하는 것이

How can one express what has been imagined like that?

참 기가 막히고 그리고 남다른 특별한 재능이다 싶기 때문에 그렇습니다

I think it's truly astonishing and has a unique special talent.

저는 오늘 설교를 준비하면서 소망, Hope

I prepared a sermon today on hope.

소망이라는 이 말을 그려보라고 한다면

If I were to draw the word "hope",

그러면 어떻게 그릴까 한번 생각해 보았습니다

Then I thought about how to draw it.

만일 누가 여러분들에게 소망을 그리라고 한다면

If someone asks you to draw your hopes.

여러분은 소망을 어떻게 그리시겠습니까?

How would you envision your hopes?

하늘을 그리고 그리고 그 하늘을 바라보는 노인을 그린다면

If you were to draw the sky and then draw an old man looking at that sky.

그건 너무 진부한 그림일 것 같고

I think that would be too cliché of a picture.

요즘 제 생각이 굉장히 복잡해서 그런지는 모르겠지만

I don't know if it's because my thoughts have been very complicated lately, but...

소망을 그리라고 하면 저는 복권을 그릴 것 같다는 생각이 들기도 합니다

If you ask me to draw a wish, I think I would draw a lottery ticket.

만일 누가 저에게 여러분에게 평화를 그려보라고 한다면

If someone were to ask me to描绘平和给 you all,

여러분들은 그 평화를 어떻게 무엇을 그리시겠습니까?

How would you envision that peace?

평화를 그리시겠습니까?

Would you like to draw peace?

평화를 그리라고 한다면 아마도 복잡한 도시보다는 조금 한적한 시골이 연상될 거라고 생각해요

If asked to draw peace, I would probably think of a quiet countryside rather than a complex city.

넓은 풀밭에 양들이 한가로이 풀을 뜯어먹고 있고

On the wide grassland, sheep are leisurely grazing.

선하고 인자해 보이는 목자는 그런 양들을 지그시 바라보면서

The kind and gentle-looking shepherd gazes softly at those sheep.

악기를 아주 조용하게 연주하는 모습도 참 평화스러운 모습입니다

Playing an instrument very quietly is truly a peaceful sight.

사람들은 대체로 이런 평화스러움을 원합니다

People generally desire this kind of peace.

한국에서 한 어느 설문에 의하면

According to a survey conducted in Korea,

한국에 살고 있는 사람들의 60% 정도가

About 60% of the people living in Korea...

아파트에 살고 있는 그 편리함을 당장 포기하는 것은 망설여지지만

It's hard to immediately give up the convenience of living in an apartment.

나중에 살고 싶은 곳으로는 전원주택을 선호했다고 합니다

I heard that they preferred a country house as a place to live later.

사람들이 꿈꾸고 사람들이 원하는 평화는 이런 평화스러움이기 때문에

The peace that people dream of and desire is this kind of tranquility.

대체로 사람들은 조용한 것입니다

Generally, people are quiet.

조용한 것이 좋다 말하고 물론 그 조용함에 익숙하지는 않지만

I say that it's good to be quiet, and of course, I'm not used to that quietness.

조용한 것을 좋다 말하고 그리고 한가로운 삶이 그것 또한 익숙하지는 않죠

I say I like silence, and a leisurely life is also not something I'm used to.

너무 분주하게 살다 보니까

I've been living so busily that...

그렇지만 우리의 마음속에 원하는 삶은 항상 한가로운 삶을 원합니다

However, the life we desire in our hearts always longs for a leisurely life.

플로라 블너라고 하는 분이 쓴 책에서

In a book written by someone named Flora Blner,

어린 시절에 그의 인생을 바꾸어 놓았던 그림 하나를

A painting that changed his life during childhood.

그가 소개한 적이 있습니다

He has introduced it before.

깎아내리는 듯한 절벽에 매달려 있는 목자의 모습입니다

It is the image of a shepherd hanging on a cliff that seems to be eroding.

한 손으로는 바위를 붙잡고 있고

Holding onto the rock with one hand

그 아래에 두려움에 떨고 있는 한 양이 있는데

Below it, there is a sheep trembling in fear.

그 양을 향해서 다른 한 손을 내밀고 있는 목자의 모습입니다

It is a depiction of a shepherd extending one hand toward the sheep.

그 장면의 위에는 솔개가 계속 맴돌고 있습니다

Above that scene, a hawk is continuously circling.

이 목자의 팔뚝에는 힘줄이 아주 불끈불끈 솟아납니다

The shepherd's forearm is bulging with strong tendons.

옷은 거의 다 찢겨진 채 여기저기서 가시에 긁혀서 피가 흐르고 있는 모습입니다

The clothes are almost completely torn and they're scratched all over by thorns, with blood flowing.

이 분화가 생각했던 선한 목자는 항상 차분하고 고요하고 평화스러웠는데

The good shepherd I had in mind was always calm, serene, and peaceful.

그녀의 부모가 그 그림을 보여주면서

Her parents showed her the picture.

저분이 바로 선한 목자다라고 그렇게 말을 해준 이후에

After saying that person is indeed the good shepherd,

이 여인은 평화에 대한 이미지가 완전히 바뀌었다고 고백을 했습니다

This woman confessed that her image of peace has completely changed.

일반적으로 평화를 사랑하는 사람들은 문제를 피해야 한다고 생각합니다

Generally, people who love peace believe that they should avoid conflicts.

문제를 일으켜서는 물론 안 될 뿐만 아니라

Not only should we not cause problems, but also...

문제 주변에 있는 것도 별로 바람직하지 않다고 생각하죠

I don't think it's very desirable to be around the problem either.

똥이 무서워서 피하냐 더러워서 피하지 라는 이 말은

The saying "Are you avoiding it because you're scared of poop, or are you avoiding it because it's dirty?"

명백하게 불이함을 알면서도 불이함에 연루되고 싶지 않은

Clearly aware of the wrongdoing, yet wanting to avoid being involved in it.

않던 많은 사람들의 자기 합리화로운

The self-justification of many people who did not.

사용되었던 말이기도 하지만

It was a term that was used, but...

평화를 원하는 사람들이 이 소란스러움을 원하지 않아서 했던

People who want peace did this because they do not want this chaos.

아주 소박한 말이기도 합니다

It's a very simple statement.

많은 사람들은 문제가 있다는 것도 알고

Many people know that there is a problem.

그리고 그 문제들은 해결되어야 한다는 것도 알고 있지만

And I know that those issues need to be resolved as well, but...

복잡하고 소란스러운 것이 싫어서 일단은 피하고 싶어 합니다

I want to avoid complicated and noisy situations for now.

제가 동부에 살 때였는데요

It was when I was living in the East.

이 지붕 물바지로 낙엽들이 쌓여서

Leaves have piled up on this roof gutter.

물이 그 통을 따라서 밑으로 내려와야 하는데 흘려 내려오지를 않고

The water is supposed to flow down through the barrel, but it's not flowing down.

그 낙엽에 막혀서 물이 그 통, 그 물통 너머로 그냥 넘쳐 흘러서

The water just overflowed and spilled over that container, blocked by the fallen leaves.

지붕 위에서 떨어진 적이 있었습니다

I had fallen off a roof.

복잡한 게 싫고 단순한 게 좋았던 저는

I disliked complexity and preferred simplicity.

지붕에 올라가서 그 낙엽을 긁어내는 대신에

Instead of going up on the roof to scrape off the fallen leaves,

그 비가 올 때마다 지붕에서 물이 떨어지고

Every time it rains, water drips from the roof.

그 장소를 피해 다녔습니다

I avoided that place.

저희 아버님께서 한 번 오셨다가 그 장면을 보시고

My father came once and saw that scene.

사다리를 대고 지붕에 올라가서

I leaned a ladder against the roof and climbed up.

그 낙엽들을 다 긁어내실 때까지

Until you scrape away all those fallen leaves.

1년 넘도록 저는 그렇게 살았습니다

I have lived like that for over a year.

비가 올 때면 그 물을 피해 다니면 별 문제가 없었으니까

When it rains, as long as I avoid the water, there aren't really any problems.

저는 이런 저를 단순한 것을 좋아하고

I like simple things like this me.

문제, 복잡한 것을 싫어하는 것과

The problem, hating complicated things and

평화주의자라고 저는 그렇게 생각했는데

I thought of myself as a pacifist.

저희 아버님은 저를 세상에 둘도 없는 게으른 자라고

My father says that I am the laziest person in the world.

그렇게 취급을 하셨습니다

You treated it that way.

명절을 맞이해서 사는 사람들이 예루살렘을 찾아갔습니다

During the holiday, people living in Jerusalem went to visit.

그와 같은 명절에 사람들이 기대하는 것은 축제입니다

What people look forward to during such holidays is the festival.

모처럼 찾아온 고향에서 사람들은 살벌한 긴장보다는

In the hometown that has come to visit after a long time, people feel more than a tense atmosphere.

오히려 평화스럽고 한가한 여유를 원했을 겁니다

They would have rather wanted a peaceful and leisurely tranquility.

많은 사람들이 모여있다는 그 사실을 기회로 이용하려는

Trying to take advantage of the fact that many people are gathered.

정치적 선동가들을 제외하고는

Except for the political agitators.

아무도 소란스러움이나 문제를 원하지 않았을 겁니다

No one would have wanted noise or problems.

물론 그 축제, 벅적거림 이런 것들이 좋기는 했지만

Of course, the festival and the excitement were nice, but...

그래도 거기에서 분쟁이 있거나 다툼이 있는 것은

Still, there are disputes or conflicts there.

원하지 않았을 거라는 거죠

It means that you probably didn't want it.

많은 사람들이 모이다 보니까 새로운 정보도 많이 얻게 되고

Since many people gather, we also gain a lot of new information.

세상 돌아가는 이야기들도 여기저기서는

Stories about the world are also being told here and there.

여기저기서 듣게 되는데

I hear it from various places.

이번 명절에 사람들의 입에 가장 많이 오르내린 사람은

The person who was mentioned the most during this holiday was

바로 예수님이었습니다

It was indeed Jesus.

예수님이 거기에 계시지 않았음에도 불구하고

Despite the fact that Jesus was not there.

많은 사람들이 예수님에 관한 이야기를 했고

Many people talked about Jesus.

그리고 예수님을 찾았습니다

And I found Jesus.

어떤 사람은 예수가 좋은 사람이라고 말했고

Some people say that Jesus was a good person, and

어떤 사람은 예수가 아주 흉악한 사람이라고 말을 했습니다

Some people said that Jesus was a very wicked person.

예수님을 잘 모르던 사람들조차도 궁금증을 가질 만큼이나

Even those who did not know Jesus well had a curiosity about Him.

사람들은 계속해서 예수에 관한 이야기들을 많이 하고

People continue to talk a lot about Jesus.

예수님을 찾았어요

I found Jesus.

이런 곳에는 주님이 나타나지 않는 것이

The Lord does not appear in places like this.

가장 평화스러운 모습일 텐데

It must be the most peaceful sight.

명절 중간 즈음에 예수님께서 예루살렘 성전에 나타나셨습니다

During the middle of the festival, Jesus appeared in the Jerusalem Temple.

그리고 성전에서 예수님께서 가르치기 시작하시면서

And as Jesus began to teach in the temple...

예루살렘은 아주 시끄러워졌습니다

Jerusalem has become very noisy.

여러분 이게 이상하지 않습니까?

Isn't this strange, everyone?

원래 시끄러웠던 곳도 예수님이 계시면 평화스러워지고

Even a place that used to be noisy becomes peaceful when Jesus is present.

문제가 많았던 곳도 주님께서 한마디 하시면 조용해지고

Even the places that had many problems become quiet with just a word from the Lord.

뭐 그래야 하는 거 아닌 건가요?

Isn't that what you're supposed to do?

그런데 평화주의자들이 보기에는

However, from the perspective of pacifists,

예수님께서 문제를 일으키시는 것 같아서

It seems like Jesus is causing a problem.

그래서 아쉬웠습니다

So I felt sorry.

예수님을 지지하는 사람들이

People who support Jesus.

예수님을 그 당장 왕을 삼을 것처럼 그렇게 열광하고 좋아하고

They were so enthusiastic and happy as if they were going to make Jesus the king right then and there.

예수님을 지지하는 사람들이

People who support Jesus

예수님을 싫어하는 사람들은 마치 그 나라를 전복시킬 것처럼

Those who hate Jesus act as if they will overthrow that kingdom.

아주 위험한 인물로 경계하고 있는 건 이해를 하겠는데

I understand that you are on guard against a very dangerous person.

이 예수님은 그런 상황과 사람들의 반응을 이용이라도 하듯이

This Jesus seems to use such situations and people's reactions.

호불호를 나누는 너무 극단적인 이야기들을

Extremely polarizing stories that divide opinions.

마구 쏟아내기 시작했다는 말입니다

It means that they have begun to spill out profusely.

조금만 부드럽게 말해도 좋을 텐데

It would be nice if you could speak a little more gently.

조금만 극단적으로 말하지 말고

Don't speak too drastically.

조금만 유하게 도와주시기 바랍니다

Please help me a little gently.

돌려서 말씀하셔도 이렇게 소란스럽지는 않을 텐데

Even if you say it indirectly, it wouldn't be this noisy.

분명히 화를 자초하고 분열을 일으키는 말임에도 불구하고

Clearly, it is words that provoke anger and cause division.

거침없이 쏟아내는 그 예수님을 보면서

Seeing Jesus pouring out boldly

평화주의자들은 평화를 좋아하는 사랑하는 사람들은

Pacifists are those who love peace.

이 예수님이 조금 문제가 있거나 아니면 지나치다는 생각을 했을 겁니다

They might have thought that this Jesus had some issues or was excessive.

평화를 사랑하는 사람들의 입장에서는

From the perspective of those who love peace

예수님의 말이 맞는가 예수님의 말이 틀리는가 보다는

Rather than whether Jesus' words are right or wrong,

그렇게 문제를 일으키는 것은

Causing problems like that is

예수를 일으키고 있는 예수님이 문제였다는 말입니다

The problem was that it was Jesus raising Jesus.

예를 들면 이런 겁니다

For example, it's like this.

배운 적이 없는 사람인데도

Even though I've never learned it.

예수님의 가르침이 다른 서기관들과 남달라서

Jesus' teachings were different from those of the other scribes.

권위가 있었고 설득력이 있었습니다

There was authority and it was persuasive.

그래서 많은 사람들이 그 예수님의 가르침에 놀라움을 표했습니다

So many people expressed their amazement at the teachings of Jesus.

이 사람은 우리가 아는 학교를 다닌 적도 없고

This person has never attended the school we know.

누구 어떤 라비 밑에서 공부를 한 적도 없는데

I have never studied under any rabbi.

어찌 이리 유창하고 어찌 이리 그 말에 설득력이 있는가

How can one be so fluent and how can one be so persuasive in their words?

다른 서기관들이 가르치던 그 지루하고

The boring and tedious lessons taught by the other scribes.

그리고 또한 그 비논리적인 것과는 달리

And also, unlike that illogical thing.

너무 분명하고 확실하게 그 진리를 가르치고 있고

It teaches that truth so clearly and undoubtedly.

그리고 그 율법을 강론하고 있는 예수님을 보면서

And while observing Jesus who is expounding that law.

놀라움을 금치 못했어요

I couldn't contain my surprise.

와 이 사람 도대체 어디서 이거 다 배운 거야

Wow, where on earth did this person learn all of this?

이럴 때 웬만한 사람이라면 조금 겸손을 보이는 게 미덕입니다

In situations like this, it is a virtue for most people to show a little humility.

이럴 때는 조금 가만히 계셔야 돼요

In times like this, you should stay still for a while.

그런데 주님은 이렇게 말합니다

But the Lord says this.

말씀하셨습니다

You have spoken.

내 교훈은 내 것이 아니라 나를 보내신 이의 것이니라

My teaching is not mine, but belongs to the one who sent me.

사람이 하나님의 뜻을 행하려면

In order for a person to carry out God's will.

이 교훈이 하나님께로부터 왔는지 사람에게로부터 왔는지 알아야 할 것인데

You need to know whether this teaching comes from God or from people.

사람들은 내가 내 영광을 구하는 것이 아니라

People think that I am not seeking my own glory.

내가 나를 보내신 이의 영광을 구하고 있거늘

I am seeking the glory of the one who sent me.

어찌하여 너희는 나를 죽이려고 하느냐

Why are you trying to kill me?

이 말씀 때문에 도대체 누구를

Who on earth are you talking about because of this remark?

누가 예수를 죽이려고 하는가

Who is trying to kill Jesus?

예루살렘에 대소동이 일어났다는 말입니다

It means that a great commotion has occurred in Jerusalem.

아직 아무에게도 예수님을 죽이겠다는 구체적인 계획이 없었고

There was still no specific plan to kill Jesus by anyone.

예수님을 죽여야 되겠다고 언급한 사람도 없었습니다

No one mentioned that they should kill Jesus.

오히려 예수님께서 안식일 날 그 이 병자를 고치심으로

Rather, Jesus healed this sick person on the Sabbath.

많은 사람들이 안식일에 병자를 고치는 것이

Many people believe that healing the sick on the Sabbath is...

과연 율법에 합당한 일인가 아닌가를 가지고 논란을 하고

Is it indeed a matter that is in accordance with the law or not, that is being debated?

그래서 어떤 사람들은 안식일에 병을 고쳤기 때문에

So some people were healed on the Sabbath.

예수님이 율법을 어긴 자라니까요

They say Jesus violated the law.

그래서 어떤 사람들은 안식일에 병을 고쳤기 때문에

So some people were healed on the Sabbath.

절대로 선지자일 수 없다고 주장하는 사람이 있는 반면에

On the one hand, there are those who claim that one can never be a prophet.

어떤 사람들은 예수님께서 안식일에 병을 고쳤어서

Some people say that Jesus healed on the Sabbath.

가난하고 불쌍하고 병든 사람들의 편에서

On the side of the poor, the pitiful, and the sick.

그들을 위하고 있는 하나님의 선지자라고 말하는 사람도 있어서

There are people who say they are God's prophets who care for them.

논란이 좀 일어나기는 했는데

There was some controversy.

예수님을 죽이려고 한 적은 없었거든요

I have never tried to kill Jesus.

아직은

Not yet

그런데 예수님께서 어찌하여 내가 병자들을 고쳤다고 하여서

But why did Jesus say that I healed the sick?

그 전신을 온전히 했다고

I said I completely did that.

너희들은 안식일에

You shall observe the Sabbath.

한례를 행함으로 율법을 지키려고 하는 자들이

Those who try to keep the law by performing circumcision.

어찌하여 안식일에 어렵고 힘든 사람들의 병을 고침으로

Why heal the sick and troubled on the Sabbath?

율법을 지키려고 하는 나를 죽이려고 하느냐라고 말씀하셔서

"Are you trying to kill me for trying to keep the law?"

소란이 일어난 겁니다

There has been an uproar.

그래서 사람들은

So people

예수님이 지금 귀신에 들려서 헛소리를 하고 있다고까지 말할 정도였습니다

He went so far as to say that Jesus is now possessed by a demon and is talking nonsense.

어떤 사람들은 이렇게 말했습니다

Some people have said this.

원래 메시아는 어디에서부터 오는지 모르는 것인데

Originally, it is unknown where the Messiah comes from.

우리는 그가 나살에 출신인 것을 알고

We know that he is from Nazareth.

그의 형제들도 알고 그의 부모도 알고

His siblings know, and his parents know too.

이렇습니다

It is like this.

그런데 어찌 그가 나사로 올 수 있겠느냐라고 이야기를 합니다

"However, how could he come to Lazarus?"

아니 그렇지 않더라도

No, even if not that.

성경에 분명히 메시아는 베들렘에서 출생한다고 했는데

The Bible clearly states that the Messiah will be born in Bethlehem.

어떻게 나살에서도 출생한 사람이

How can someone born in this world...

메시아가 될 수 있겠는가라고 반문을 했습니다

I questioned whether one could become a messiah.

그들의 잘못된 신학적 편견 때문에 나온 말이기는 하지만

Although it was said because of their erroneous theological biases,

그냥 의견입니다

It's just my opinion.

예수님이 베들렘에서 출생하셨다는 사실을

The fact that Jesus was born in Bethlehem.

그들은 몰랐기 때문에 그냥 그렇게 말한 것뿐이니까

They just said that because they didn't know any better.

예수님께서는

Jesus said

예수님께서 그들을 좀 조용히 불러서

Jesus quietly called them over.

사실은 내가 베들렘에서 출생했어

The truth is, I was born in Bethlehem.

라고 그렇게 조용히 가르쳐 주시거나

Or you could quietly teach me like that.

아니면 그런 말에는 대꾸를 하지 않는 것이

Otherwise, it's better not to respond to such remarks.

평화를 원하는 사람들이 하는 일입니다

It is what people who want peace do.

그래야 시끄럽지 않고 그래야 조용합니다

That way it won't be noisy, and that way it will be quiet.

신학적인 편견 때문에 혹은 잘 몰라서

Because of theological bias or simply due to lack of knowledge.

사람들이 그렇게 말을 할 때

When people say things like that.

거기에 반응하고 대꾸하는 것은

Responding and reacting to that is

싸우겠다는 것밖에 아니잖아요

All you want to do is fight.

그런데 그의 말은

However, his words are...

그런데 주님께서는

But the Lord...

내가 저 사람이 어디서 왔는지 다 알고 있는데 무슨 말이냐라고

I know exactly where that person came from, so what are you talking about?

그가 어떻게 메시아냐라고 말하는 그들에게

To those who say, "How is he the Messiah?"

나는 하나님께로부터 왔다

I have come from God.

하나님께서 나를 보내셨다라고 그렇게 말씀을 하셔서

"God sent me," is what he said.

마침내 사람들은 예수님을 잡아 가두려고까지 했습니다

Finally, people even tried to capture and imprison Jesus.

어떤 사람들은 예수님이 기적을 행하신 것을 상기하면서

Some people recall the miracles performed by Jesus.

그는 그리스도임에 틀림이 없다고 했고

He said he is definitely the Christ.

어떤 사람은 어떻게 그리스도가 갈릴리에서 나올 수 있느냐고 했습니다

Some people asked, "How can the Christ come from Galilee?"

신학적으로도 사회학적으로도 정치적으로도

Theologically, sociologically, and politically.

예수님은 예루살렘에서 엄청난 소동, 소란을 일으켜셨습니다

Jesus caused a tremendous uproar and commotion in Jerusalem.

마치 주님께서는 소란을 피하고 평화로운 것을 원하시는 분인 것처럼

As if the Lord desires to avoid commotion and seeks peace.

아주 은밀하게 예루살렘에 들어오셨는데

You entered Jerusalem very discreetly.

예루살렘에 은밀하게 들어오셨다는 것이 무색할 만큼

So much so that it makes your secretive entry into Jerusalem seem pale.

성전에서 가르치면서 하셨던 그 쏟아낸 말들은 거침없는 말들이어서

The words He spoke while teaching in the temple were unrestrained and flowingly delivered.

혼란과 소동의 원인이 되었습니다

It became the cause of confusion and commotion.

저는 주님께서 아직 주님의 때가 아니라고 말씀하시면서

I believe that the Lord is saying that it is not yet His time.

왜 이렇게 과격한 행보를 하셨을까가 조금 의아했습니다

I was a bit puzzled as to why you took such drastic actions.

이건 단순히 예수님께서는 좀 조용히 계시려고 했는데

This is simply that Jesus was trying to keep quiet.

예수님께서는 좀 차분히 그냥 조용히 지내시려고 하는데

Jesus is trying to stay calm and just spend some quiet time.

워낙에 예수님의 그 불의를 보면 참지 못하고

I can't help but be unable to endure the injustice of Jesus.

바른 말은 반드시 해야만 하는 그 주님의 성격 때문만은 아니었습니다

It wasn't just because of the Lord's nature that one must speak the truth.

주님의 성격 때문에

Because of the Lord's character

예수님께서는 참아야 되겠다고 가셨다가

어둠의 세상에서는 이미 평화를 깨뜨리는 행위였습니다

예수님은 이 땅에 평화의 왕으로 오셨다고 그렇게 했지만

그것이 평화스러움을 의미했다면

It gave new meaning to their suffering.

교회가 건강했을 때에도 교인들은 핍박을 받았고

교회는 애매해

The church is ambiguous.

교회는 애매히 고난을 당하는 사람들이

많았다는 말입니다

It means there were many.

누가 괴롭히거나 아니면 누가 고난을 주는 것은 아니지만

No one is bothering or causing suffering, but...

예수님을 믿는 믿음으로 인하여서 발생한

The occurrence brought about by faith in Jesus.

그 전혀 다른 가치관으로

이 세상을 사랑하는 것 자체가

Loving this world itself

희생과 용납과 용서와

그냥 편안하고 안락하고

살기 위해서 돈을 많이 버는 것이

Making a lot of money to live.

아무런 문제가 되지 않는데

It's not a problem at all.

예수를 믿는 사람들은

돈이 많아도 불안하고

Even if you have a lot of money, you feel anxious.

그것도 하나님 앞에 바르지 않은 것 같아서

I don't think that is right before God either.

고민이 되고

It becomes a concern.

이 땅에서 도대체 영원한 하나님의 나라를 소망하며

Hoping for the eternal kingdom of God on this earth.

사는 사람들은 어떤 가치관을 가지고

What values do the living hold?

어떻게 살아야 될까를 고민하는

Wondering how to live.

그들의 그 고민된 삶 자체가

Their troubled lives themselves

이미 벌써 고난과 혼란이라는 말입니다

It already means hardship and confusion.

이는 마치 예수님께서

This is as if Jesus said

그 명절에

That holiday

예수님께서

예루살렘에 나타나심으로

By appearing in Jerusalem.

소란과 갈등을 초래하신 것과

Causing uproar and conflict, and

같았습니다

예수님은 평화의 주님이라고 했는데

예수님이 오신 후에

세상은 더 복잡해졌고

The world has become more complicated.

화평을 주러 온 것이 아니라

Not to bring peace.

검을 주러 왔다고 말씀하셨고

You said you came to give a sword.

제자들을 위해 기도하시면서도

While praying for the disciples

내가 양을 이리 가운데 보내는 것 같다고

It feels like I'm sending the sheep right into the middle.

염려하며 기도하셨습니다

사람들 중에는

별로 마땅치 않은 사람들이 있었습니다

별로 좋아하는 이미지가 아닙니다

평화스럽지 않기 때문입니다

Because it is not peaceful.

그렇지 않아도 피곤하고 힘든 세상을

A world that is already tiring and difficult.

왜 그렇게 복잡하게 만드는가 말입니다

Why do you make it so complicated?

고난이니 제자의 삶이니

It is a life of trials and discipleship.

사명이니 이런 말들은

다 사람을 피곤하게 만드는 말입니다

It's a statement that tires everyone out.

그래서 예수를 믿으면

마음이 평안해지고

My heart feels at peace.

삶이 윤택해지고

외적으로는 형통해서

그 사람을 피곤하게 만드는 말입니다

It's words that make that person tired.

그래서 예수를 믿으면

마음이 평안해지고

My heart feels at peace.

삶이 윤택해지고

Life becomes prosperous.

내적으로 치유가 되고

Healing is happening internally.

그렇게 살게 될 것이라고

형통할 것이고 모든 문제가

이 땅에서 평화스럽고

그 말을 사람들은

더 선호하기 시작했습니다

복잡하고 희생적인

말들만 교회는 쏘다내기

가난한 사람들 병든 사람들

Poor people, sick people.

약한 사람들

Weak people

노인들이 교회에 너무 많으면

If there are too many elderly people in the church

소란스럽고 문제가

Noisy and problematic.

발생할 수 있다고 생각했습니다

I thought it could happen.

그래서 교회는

So the church is

약하고 어려운 사람들과 함께 할 수 있다는

The ability to be with weak and vulnerable people.

그 이미지로

With that image.

보여주는 정도에서

To the extent of showing.

약하고 힘들고 어려운 사람들이

Weak, struggling, and difficult people.

조금은 있어도 용납이 되지만

It is acceptable if there is a little.

더 많아지면

If there are more.

그런 교회는 복잡한 교회가 되어버리고

That kind of church becomes a complicated church.

사람들은 싫어합니다

People dislike it.

기왕이면

If possible.

마음에 맞고 수준이 맞는 사람들끼리

People who are compatible and at the same level.

교제하기를 선호하니까

Because I prefer to date.

같은 교회를 다니는 것까지는

Up to the point of attending the same church.

어쩔 수 없어도

Even if there's nothing I can do about it.

그 이상 가까워지기를

원치 않습니다

교회는 문제가 많은 사람들에게

기다리고 참아야 한다면

My heart is complicated.

견딜 수가 없습니다

그냥 세상에 사는 동안에는

While just living in the world,

세상 사람들의 방식대로 사는 게

Living according to the ways of the people in the world

순리인데

It's the natural order.

나그네로 살아야 하기 때문에

Because I have to live as a traveler.

아쉽지만 포기해야 되고

It's unfortunate, but I have to give up.

억울하지만 참아야 하니까

어떻게 그 마음에 평안이 있을 수 있겠는가 말입니다

How can there be peace in that heart?

가지고 싶으면 갖고

If you want it, take it.

미워하고 싶으면 미워하고

If you want to hate, then hate.

가고 싶으면 가고

If you want to go, then go.

가고 싶지 않으면 가지 않아야

If you don't want to go, you shouldn't go.

그래야만 되는데

It must be like that.

그렇게 살면 안 되는 이유가

The reason you shouldn't live that way is...

예수님 때문에 생겨서

죄와 싸워야 하고

You have to fight against sin.

세상과 싸워야 하는데

어떻게 우리가 마냥 평화스러울 수 있겠느냐는 말입니다

끊임없는 유혹과 환란이며

It is constant temptation and tribulation.

영원한 하나님의 나라에 대한

About the eternal kingdom of God.

그리스도의 영광을 느끼는 것은

Feeling the glory of Christ is

영원한 하나님의 나라에 대한

About the eternal Kingdom of God.

그 소망 때문에

Because of that wish

하나님께서 나에게 주실

What God will give me.

그 영원한 기업 때문에

Because of that eternal company

그 하나님이 나와 함께 하시고

That God is with me.

I want to serve in ministry with God's people.

저는 문제가 두렵고

I am afraid of problems.

저는 시끄러운 게 싫습니다

I dislike noise.

그런데 제가 만일 그런 목회를 하고 싶다고

But what if I want to do that kind of ministry?

그런 교회로 가게 해달라고 하면

Please let me go to such a church.

주님께서 저보고 천국으로 오라 그러실 것 같아요

I think the Lord will tell me to come to heaven.

저를 목사로 부르시면서

Calling me as a pastor,

주님께서 주신 사명은

The mission given by the Lord is

목회를 하면서 평화스러움을 누리라는 것이 아니라

It's not about enjoying tranquility while doing ministry.

갈등과 문제가 있는 곳이라 할지

It can be said that it is a place with conflicts and problems.

그리스라도 피스메이킹을 하라고 하는 것이라고

Even Greece is being told to engage in peace-making.

저는 믿습니다

I believe.

한길교회에 어려움이 생겼습니다

There has been a difficulty at Hangil Church.

저의 부족함 때문이다 싶어서

I think it's because of my shortcomings.

죄송한 마음도 있고

I feel sorry as well.

내가 무엇 때문에 이런 일에 연루되어야 하는가 싶어서

I wonder why I have to be involved in something like this.

힘이 들기도 합니다

It can be difficult.

잠도 잘 못 자겠고

I can't even sleep well.

교인들 앞에만 서면 기운이 빠지기도 합니다

I sometimes feel drained when standing in front of the congregation.

이건 제가 원하고

This is what I want.

제가 꿈꾸던 것입니다

It is what I dreamed of.

이건 목회의 현장이 아닙니다

This is not a place for ministry.

이건 여러분들이 기대하고

This is what you all have been looking forward to.

여러분들이 고대했던 교회도 아닙니다

It is not the church you all have been looking forward to.

하지만 저는 문제가 많고 복잡해서

But I have a lot of problems and they are complicated.

목회의 현장을 떠나지는 않을 것입니다

I will not leave the field of ministry.

복잡하고 힘들다고 피하지도 않을 겁니다

I won't avoid it just because it's complicated and difficult.

저의 한계와 부족함 때문에 자신이 없는 것은 사실이지만

It is true that I lack confidence due to my limitations and shortcomings, but

제가 더 이상 목회를 떠나지 않을 것입니다

I will no longer leave my ministry.

더 이상은 아무것도 할 수 없다고 생각될 때가 있겠다 싶기는 하지만

There may be times when it feels like you can't do anything anymore, but...

교회의 본질적인 사명이

The essential mission of the church.

평화를 누림이 아니라 화평쾌함이라면

If it is not the enjoyment of peace but rather tranquility.

우리는 함께 하나님의 나라를 바라보며

We look toward God's kingdom together.

비록 문제가 보였다 할지라도

Even if problems were evident.

문제가 발생했다 할지라도

Even if a problem occurs

제자로서의 본분을 지키고

Maintain the duty of being a disciple.

교회가 오히려 교회다워지는

The church is becoming more like a church.

성숙의 기회로 삼아야 할 것입니다

It should be taken as an opportunity for growth.

우리는 하나님 앞에서

We are before God.

우리가 원하는 것이

What we want is

그냥 평화스러움이기는 하지만

It's just a sense of tranquility, but...

그러나 우리에게 주어진 궁극적 사명이

However, the ultimate mission given to us is

평화스러움 가운데 눌러앉아 누리는 것이 아니라

It is not about sitting down and enjoying amidst tranquility.

바로 피스메이킹이라면

If it's 바로 peacemaking.

주님께서 우리들에게 원하시는 것은

What the Lord desires from us is

이 시간에 어떻게 우리가 제자로 합당하게

How can we be worthy disciples at this time?

이 교회가 마땅히 서야 할 것인가

Should this church rightfully stand?

하는 것을 가지고 기도하며 고민해야 할 겁니다

You will need to pray and ponder over what you are doing.

저와 여러분이 이 세상에 살기 때문에

Because you and I live in this world.

힘들고 아픈 것처럼

Like it's hard and painful.

교회도 세상에 속하지는 않았지만

The church also does not belong to the world.

세상에 있겠다는 것입니다

It means to be in the world.

이렇게 아프기도 한 겁니다

This is how painful it can be.

사랑하는 우리 한길교회 성도 여러분

Dear members of our beloved Hankil Church,

저의 부족함을 인하여서

Due to my shortcomings

그리고 저의 미흡함 때문에 발생한 많은 문제들입니다

And these are the many problems that arose because of my shortcomings.

하지만 그럼에도 불구하고

But nevertheless

제가 부족하지만

I may be lacking, but...

여러분들에게 간곡하게 부탁하고 싶은 것이 있다면

If there is something I would like to earnestly ask of you all, it is this:

낙심하지 말고 기도하시고

Don't be discouraged, pray.

문제가 생겨서

A problem has occurred.

그래서 어려워진 것이 아니라

So it's not that it has become difficult.

오히려 그 문제 앞에서

Rather, in the face of that problem.

우리가 평화스러움을 추구하며

As we seek tranquility,

안주하려고 하는 것이

What I am trying to do is to get comfortable.

우리의 문제인 것을

It's our problem.

오히려 더 인식할 수 있으면 좋겠고

I would actually like it if I could recognize it more.

저와 여러분이 함께

오늘 오신 아버지 하나님

Today, Heavenly Father came.

우리의 생명이 되시는 주님

Lord, who is our life.

우리가 언제쯤

When are we going to...?

평화스러운 삶을 살 수 있을까요

Can I live a peaceful life?

나중에 은퇴할 수 있을까요

Can I retire later?

은퇴하면 평화스러워질까

Will it be peaceful after retirement?

내 하던 일들을 다 마치면

When I finish all the things I was doing.

평화스러워질까

Will it become peaceful?

그러나 주님

But Lord

이 땅에 살아가는 제자들에게

To the disciples living on this land

주님께서 원하시는

What the Lord desires

그 삶이

That life.

평화스러움이 아니라

Not tranquility.

화평쾌함이라면

If it's peace and joy.

아버지 하나님

Father God

우리는 어쩌면

Maybe we are.

그 평화스러움조차도

Even that tranquility

거부해야 하는지도 모릅니다

I might have to refuse.

죄로 인하여

Due to sin

교회 안에 문제가 생겼고

There has been a problem within the church.

그리고 교회가 어려움 가운데 있습니다

And the church is facing difficulties.

주님

Lord

이것을 하나님의

This is God's.

하나님께서 우리에게 주신

What God has given us

시련이라 막연히 생각하기에는

If you think of it simply as a trial,

우리의 허물과 잘못이

Our flaws and mistakes.

너무 크고 많지만

It's too big and numerous, but...

이곳에서도

Even here

이 상황에서도

Even in this situation

우리는

We are

피스메이커가 되기를 원합니다

I want to be a peacemaker.

하나님께서

God

저희들과 함께 하여 주셔서

Thank you for being with us.

저희들로 하여금

By us

예수 그리스도를 온전히 바라보며

Looking fully to Jesus Christ

그 나라를 소망하는

Longing for that country.

나그네로서

As a traveler

이 세상에 존재하며

Exists in this world

그 소란 가운데 있어야 되는 이 교회가

This church that has to be amidst the commotion.

아버지 하나님

Father God

혹 너무 안일한 곳에서

Perhaps in a place that is too complacent.

우리의 편리와

Our convenience and

우리의 유익과

Our benefit and

우리의 평화스러움만을 추구하며

Pursuing only our peace.

지내고 있는 것은 아닌가

Aren't you doing well?

돌아볼 수 있게 하여 주시옵시고

Please allow me to look back.

소란하고 문제가 많고

Noisy and full of problems.

그리고 먹고 사는 것조차도

And even just living and eating

어려워서는

It's difficult.

갈등과 고민과

conflicts and worries and

그리고 낙심 가운데 있는

And those who are in despair.

이 세상에 있는 사람들에게

To the people in this world

조금 더 깊은 관심을 갖는

Having a little deeper interest.

기회가 되게 하여 주시옵소서

Please grant us the opportunity.

예수님의 이름으로

In the name of Jesus.
