드디어 본격적인 해양 캠프에 훈련을 받는 날이 됐어 훈련을 받고 바다에 들어가지 근데 오늘 바다에 들어가기 전에 해양 캠프 안에 있는 수영장에서 훈련을 받는 날이었어

Finally, it was the day to receive training for the full-fledged marine camp. We were to receive training before entering the sea. However, today we had training in the swimming pool inside the marine camp before going into the ocean.

근데 덕배 생각이랑 수영장이 좀 달랐어 덕배는 평소에 다녔던 수영장은 물에 들어가면은 그냥 덕배가 수영해서 쭉 갈 수 있는 그런 수영장이고 깊이가 일정했는데

But the pool I was thinking about was a bit different from the one I usually visited. The one I usually went to was a pool where once I got into the water, I could just swim straightforwardly and it had a consistent depth.

해양 캠프 안에 있는 이 수영장은 처음에 들어가는 데는 높이가 똑같은데 점점점점 깊어지더니 수영장 끝부분에 가면은 밑에 얼마까지 깊어지냐면은

The swimming pool inside the marine camp is the same height when you first enter, but it gradually gets deeper, and when you get to the end of the pool, it becomes deep down to a certain level.

깊어지는지 알 수 없을 정도로 껌껌한 거야 수영장이 깜짝 놀라서 물어봤지 선생님 여기 수영장이 이상해요 지금 좀 끝은 되게 깊은 것 같아요

It's so dark that I can't tell how deep it is. The swimming pool was surprised and asked, "Teacher, this swimming pool is strange. It seems like the bottom is very deep right now."

선생님한테 물어보니까 선생님이 덕배 보고 잘 봤다고 맞다 그랬어 이 수영장은 특별 수영장이라서 특별하게 그 수영장이 10미터까지 내려가는 수영장이었대

시장은 1미터에서 시작하는데 가운데 부분을 지나면 점점 깊어져서 끝부분에는 바닥까지 잠수해서 여러가지 실습을 할 수 있게 만들어진 특수 수영장이었던 거지 깜짝 놀랐어

The market starts at 1 meter deep, but as you go through the middle part, it gradually gets deeper, and at the end, it becomes a special swimming pool where you can dive to the bottom and practice various things. I was really surprised.

그래서 덕배는 오늘 본격적으로 받게 될 훈련이 너무 기대됐지 선생님 오늘은 저희가 무슨 훈련을 받게 돼요 선생님은 친절히 알려줬어

이거는 물에 대한 공포심을 줄여주는 그런 훈련이야

그래서 한 명씩 실습을 하게 됐지

먼저 장비를 착용하는 법부터 배웠어

그리고 마스크 안에 물이 들어갔을 때 물을 빼는 법

친구랑 같이 실습해보는 시간이었어

It was a time to practice together with a friend.

덕배랑 친구는 한 조가 돼서

Deokbae and his friend formed a team.

같이 실습을 도와주는 게 됐었지

I ended up helping with the practice together.

실습 도와주는 건 굉장히 간단했어

Helping with the practice was very simple.

마스크를 착용하고 수영장에 잠수했을 때

When I dove into the pool wearing a mask.

친구의 마스크를 벗겨버리면 됐어

물속에서 싸우는 것 같았는데

It felt like I was fighting in water.

굉장히 도움이 많이 되는 훈련이었어

It was a very helpful training.

물속에서 마스크가 벗겨지거나

마스크 안에 물이 들어가게 되면

If water gets inside the mask

당황하게 되거든

If you get flustered.

그러니까 친구랑 미리 마스크를 물속에서 벗겨줘서

So I took off the mask for my friend in advance underwater.

어떻게 하면 그런 상황에 대처하는지

How to cope with such situations?

연습하는 훈련이었던 거지

It was a training session for practice.

엄청 재밌었어

It was so much fun.

아직 마스크를 쓰는 게

Still wearing a mask.

익숙하지 않은 친구들이었어

They were unfamiliar friends.

그래서 덕배가 친구의 마스크를 벗겨버리니까

So Deok-bae took off his friend's mask.

친구가 코로 물 먹은 거지

My friend got water in his nose.

그래서 킥킥 때면서 위로 올라오는데

So I'm coming up with a giggle.

그 모습이 너무 웃겨서

That look is so funny.

덕배는 신나게 웃었어

Deokbae laughed excitedly.

잠시 뒤 덕배가 똑같이 코로 물을 먹고 올라왔지

A little later, Deok-bae came back up, drinking water through his nose just like before.

그 모습을 보고 친구도 엄청 웃었어

몇 번 연습하고 선생님이 알려준 방법을 사용해보니까

After practicing a few times and trying the method the teacher showed me.

물속에서도 눈을 뜨고

Opening my eyes even underwater.

거기서 마스크를 다시 착용했었어

또 마스크 안에 있는 물도

능숙하게 빼내는

베테랑 잠수사들이 된 것 같았지

It felt like they had become veteran divers.

오늘의 하이라이트인 두 번째 훈련은

The second training session, which is today's highlight, is

깊은 수영장 바닥에

At the bottom of the deep pool.

동전을 하나 떨어뜨리면

If you drop a coin,

그 동전을 잠수해서

Diving for that coin.

찾아오는 거였어

It was supposed to be a visit.

엄청 힘든 훈련같이 보였는데

It looked like an incredibly difficult training.

잠수하는 거를 몸에 익히게 해주는

It helps you get accustomed to diving.

그런 훈련이었지

It was that kind of training.

스티브 선생님이 물속에 계속 떠있어가지고

Mr. Steve keeps floating in the water.

친구들은 별로 무섭지 않게

Friends are not very scary.

그 훈련을 한 명씩 해나갈 수 있었어

We were able to go through that training one person at a time.

드디어 덕배의 차례가 됐지

Finally, it's Deokbae's turn.

덕배도 잔뜩 긴장했지만

Deok-bae was also very nervous.

덕배는 물을 무서워하지 않아서

Deok-bae is not afraid of water.

용기 있게 물속으로 잠수해서 내려갈 수 있었어

I was able to bravely dive into the water and go down.

와 10미터 깊이의 수영장이어서 그런지

Wow, maybe because it's a swimming pool that's 10 meters deep.

잠수를 해도 해도

No matter how much I dive in (or disappear).

계속 내려가는구나

It's still going down.

귀에서 이상한 소리도 나고

점점 수영장 바닥에 다가갈수록

As I get closer to the bottom of the pool.

위에 태양이 점점 어두워져서

The sun above is gradually getting darker.

무섭기도 했지

It was scary, too.

하지만 덕배는 긴장하지 않고

But Deokbae doesn't get nervous.

바닥에 있는 동전을 집어들었어

I picked up the coin on the floor.

그때였어

It was then.

어제 먹었던 망고 주스가

The mango juice I had yesterday.

뱃속에서 소화되면서

방구가 나오고 말았지

I ended up passing gas.

그걸 보고 스티브 선생님이

깜짝 놀랐어

I was startled.

우와 덕배는 숨을 되게 오래 참고

Wow, Deokbae can hold his breath for a really long time.

물속에서 숨을 한 번 더 쉴 수 있네

어떻게 이렇게 공기 방울이 큰 게 올라오지

How is such a big air bubble coming up?

스티브 선생님은 덕배가 방구 낀 게 아니라

Teacher Steve is saying that it wasn't Deokbae who farted.

참고 있던 호흡을 터뜨린 건 줄 알았어

I thought I had burst the breath I was holding.

그래서 덕배 앞으로 가서 박수를 쳐줬지

So I went in front of Deokbae and clapped.

덕배는 선생님이 왜 방구를 치는지

Deok-bae wonders why the teacher farts.

박수를 치는지 몰랐지만

I didn't know you were clapping.

그래도 자기가 방구 낀 거를 축하해 주는 줄 알았어

I thought they were congratulating me for farting anyway.

Deokbae didn't know why the teacher was passing gas, but he thought the teacher was congratulating him for passing gas himself.

어쨌든 스티브 선생님이 내민 호흡기를 입에 물고

Anyway, holding the respirator that Mr. Steve offered in my mouth

덕배도 물속에서 호흡도 해보고

Deokbae even tried breathing underwater.

동전을 찾은 다음에 다시 천천히 물 위로 올라왔지

After finding the coin, I slowly floated back up to the surface of the water.

그날 실습에서 동전을 찾은 사람은 덕배가 유일했어

The only person who found a coin that day during practice was Deokbae.

덕배는 어깨가 슥해졌지

Deok-bae's shoulders have become stiff.

하 이 정도라고 난

I think this is enough.

스티브 선생님은 한 가지 더 덕배를 침 차려줬어

Teacher Steve prepared one more thing for Deokbae.

덕배는 긴장하지 않고

Deok-bae is not nervous.

물속에서 숨을 오래 참고

Holding your breath underwater for a long time.

또 바닥에 내려왔을 때

When I came down to the floor again.

호흡을 터뜨려서 큰 물방울이 올라오게 했습니다

I burst out my breath, causing a big droplet to rise up.

덕배는 정말 굉장합니다

Deok-bae is really amazing.

친구들은 웃으면서 축하해 줬는데

My friends congratulated me with smiles.

덕배는 속으로 굉장히 뜨끔했어

Deok-bae felt a sudden pang of guilt inside.

그거 호흡을 터트린 게 아니고

It's not that I burst my breath.

방구가 터진 거라고요 선생님

It was a fart, teacher.

하지만 그 방구 냄새는 아무도 못 맡아서 괜찮았어

But the smell of that fart was fine because no one could smell it.

오늘 이렇게 수영장에서 하는 해양캠프에 훈련을 잘 마쳤지

Today, I successfully completed the training at the marine camp held at the swimming pool.

그리고 내일은

And tomorrow is

본격적으로 바다에서 해양캠프에서 하는 훈련이 진행됐지
