오랜만에 세상에 나왔지만 잘하고 있어요.

I haven't been out in a while, but I'm doing well.

10월 9일 날 종영했으면 지금 한 두 달 정도 지난 건데

It would have been about a month or two since it ended on October 9th.

이 드라마 자체가 엄청 드라마도 폭풍 같고 태풍 같은 드라마였잖아요.

This drama itself was like a huge storm and a typhoon.

내용 자체도.

The content itself.

그래서 어떤 체력적으로나 아니면 심리적으로나

So whether it's physically or psychologically.

그 태풍을 좀 떠나보내는 시간이 좀 필요하셨을 것 같은데

It seems like you needed some time to let go of that typhoon.

체력적으로도 그렇고 두 달 어떻게 보내셨는지 일단 좀 궁금하네요.

I'm curious about how you spent the last two months, both physically and otherwise.

제가 처음으로 거의 방송 원래는 이제 방송 전에 촬영이 끝났어야 되는데

I was supposed to finish filming before the broadcast for the first time, but it got delayed.

저희가 코로나 여파도 있고 해외 로케이션도 있고

We have the impact of COVID and overseas locations.

그래가지고 방송 시작하는 무렵에 딱 끝냈어요.

So I finished it just around the time the broadcast was about to start.

그래가지고 처음이거든요.

So this is the first time.

이렇게 그전까지는 방송을 늘 하면서 찍고 있고 이런 상황이었어가지고

I had been continuously filming while broadcasting until then, so it was such a situation.

촬영 끝나면 뭔가 이렇게 되게 허한 뭔가 어리둥절하게 항상 끝났는데

Whenever filming ends, I always feel a bit empty and dazed, as if it's all just over.

이제 너무 정신이 없는 상태에서 끝나니까

Now it's ending in such a chaotic state.

근데 오히려 이번에는 어느 정도 이제 정리를 포스트 프로덕션 하면서

But rather, this time I am organizing things to some extent during post-production.

방송이 또 나가는 걸 보면서 이렇게 좀 차분하게 작별할 시간이 있었어가지고

I had a moment to calmly say goodbye while watching the broadcast go on again.

굉장히 좋더라고요.

그렇게 하니까

그러네요. 자연스럽게 페이드아웃이 이렇게 됐겠네요.

네네네네. 그래가지고 이제 뭐 아쉬운 것도 아쉬운 거고

이제 연출이야 당연히 방송 이제 후반작업 하면서

본인이 실수한 것만 복귀하면서 이제 하게 되어 있기 때문에

Because I am only going back to the mistakes I made, I have to do it now.

왜 저랬을까 이거를 생각하면서 가게 되어 있기 때문에

I think about why I did that, and that's why I'm here.

그때의 나를 혼내며 하는 작업들이었지만

It was a task that scolded me from that time.

어쨌든 또 포스트 프로덕션을 후반작업을 하는 동안에

Anyway, while doing post-production work again...

방송이 나가는 것도 되게 재밌는 경험이더라고요.

It was a really interesting experience to be on air.

근데 이제 앞으로는 더 당겨야 되겠죠.

But now we need to pull tighter from now on.

요즘은 이제 뭐 우리

대표님은 더 잘 아시지만

미리 찍어놓고 뭐 포스트 프로덕션 다 끝내고 방송이 나가고

이런 경우가 훨씬 많으니까

근데 이제 저 같은 경우는 공중파 출신이기도 하고

But in my case, I also come from a public broadcasting background.

그런 시스템에 아직까지는 완전히 익숙해졌다고 보여지지 않더라고요.

I don't think I've fully gotten used to that kind of system yet.

그래서 이번 작업하면서 조금 앞으로 리듬을 좀 더 당겨야 되겠다

mbc 출신 연출들이 한 번쯤 이렇게 다 다시 와서

약간 친정 같은 곳에서 일을 한 번 해보는 것도 너무 좋을 것 같다.

I think it would be really nice to work at a place that feels a bit like my parents' home.

그런 얘기 요즘 또 많이 나오거든요.

That kind of talk has been coming up a lot lately.

그래서 너무 좋은 기회가 될 거라고 생각합니다.

약간 그런 거 있잖아요. 성공해서 이렇게 과일 바구니 들고 고향에 잠깐 들르는

시나리오 작년에 제가 빈센조 거의 다 찍어갈 무렵에 받았거든요.

I received the script around the time I was almost done filming Vincenzo last year.

그래가지고 이제 그때 제 기억에 4부 대본까지 받았던 것 같은데

So, as far as I remember, I think I received the script for part 4 back then.

이제 그때는 작가님께 받은 게 아니라

우리 이제 cp님 통해가지고 받은 거였어가지고

We received it through CP, so...

그래서

, 그래서 이제 뭐 너무나 다들 잘 아시는 작가님이시고

그 언제 작업할 기회가 저런 분이랑 있을까?

뭐 이런 생각했던 작가님이었는데

I had thought this writer was like that.

뭐 이렇게 저한테 기회가 왔다니 신기했고 처음엔

I was surprised that an opportunity came to me like this at first.

그리고 이제 대본 보면서는

아주 어려운 작품이라고 느꼈고요.

I felt it was a very difficult piece.

연출하는 사람 입장에서는

From the perspective of the director...

잘 찍기가 난이도가 굉장히 있는 작품이라고 느꼈고

I felt that it was a piece that is very difficult to shoot well.

진짜 1부 사실은 한 중반부까지 읽을 때에는

To be honest, when I read up to the middle of Part 1...

이거를 연출을 내가 할 수 있을까?

Can I direct this?

이런 생각을 되게 많이 했어요.

I've thought about this a lot.

근데 이제 그 엔딩씬 딱 읽을 때에는 감정이 굉장히 저도 격해지더라고요.

But when I read that ending scene, my emotions became very intense as well.

그래서 이런 감정을 느꼈으면은 이 작품은 이렇게 찍고 싶은 씬을 만났으면

So if you felt this emotion, I hope this work encounters a scene you want to shoot like this.

이거는 기회고 인연인 것 같다 이런 생각이 들어가지고

I feel like this is an opportunity and a connection.

작가님하고 이제 촬영 빈센조 작업 다 끝나고 이제 뵀는데

I just met the writer after finishing the filming for Vincenzo.

아시는 분들 아시면 작가님이 말씀 진짜 재밌게 하시거든요.

진짜 말씀도 재밌으시고 박식하시고 막 이런데

그때는 이제 첫 만남이라서 서로 그냥 이렇게 되게 가볍게

그냥 이제 인사하는 자리이기도 했는데

그때도 제가 되게 인상적이었던 게

What impressed me deeply at that time was...

보통 작가님들이 이제 글을 쓴다는 것 자체가

글을 써서 누군가한테 평가를 받는다는 것 자체는

The act of writing something and receiving feedback from someone itself is

그냥 제가 안 해본 직업이라 모르겠지만

I just don't know because it's a job I haven't tried.

그냥 제가 옆에서 받는 것 같아요.

I feel like I’m just receiving it from the side.

봤을 때는 진짜 칼에 찔리는 아픔이거든요. 사실.

When I saw it, it really felt like the pain of being stabbed with a knife. Honestly.

되게 고통스러운 일인데 그리고 사실 두려운 일이죠.

It's a very painful thing, and in fact, it's a scary thing.

이 평가 가혹하기 때문에.

This evaluation is harsh.

근데 연출이 무슨 말을 할지 굉장히 궁금해하시는 게 되게 인상적이었어요.

I found it very impressive that you were really curious about what the director would say.

그러니까 그것이 좋은 것이든 싫은 것이든

So whether it's something good or something bad...

혹은 혹평이어도 어떤 감정으로 이 글을 바라봤는지

Or even if it's harsh criticism, what feelings did you have while looking at this writing?

이런 거를 되게 깊게 듣고 싶어 하시더라고요.

I want to listen to things like this very deeply.

그래서 그 부분이 굉장히 인상적이었고

So that part was very impressive.

이분이랑 조금 얘기를 많이 나누면

If you have a long conversation with this person...

더 깊은 대화를 좀 서로 나눌 수 있겠다 이런 생각이 들어가지고

I thought we could have a deeper conversation with each other.

그때는 이제 뭐 그때 술도 많이 안 먹었어요.

At that time, I didn't drink much alcohol.

이제 서로 좀 자제하면서

Now let's hold back a little from each other.

와인 조금 와인 조금 우아하게 마시고

Drink a little wine elegantly.

그 다음부터 이제 본색을 드러냈죠.

근데 작가님하고 너무 재밌었어요. 너무 재밌게 일하고

But I had so much fun with the writer. It was so enjoyable to work together.

그래서 이제 뭐 제가 저는 공중파 출신이라고 아까 말씀드렸지만

어찌 됐든 이 대중분이

Anyway, this audience member...

대중분들하고 그냥 접점이 넓고

I simply have a wide connection with the public.

불특정의 연령대가 다양한 대중을 상대하는 거에

Dealing with a diverse audience of unspecified age groups.

저희가 늘 익숙하잖아요. 방송하는 사람들은

We are always familiar with it, right? The people who broadcast.

그거 먼저 교육을 받죠.

First, I will receive training on that.

그렇죠. 저희는 이제 그리고 분명히 필요한 자원들이고요.

That's right. We definitely need those resources now.

근데 이제 또 반대로 작가님께서는 어떤 순간은 굉장히 좁고 깊게 소통하시기 때문에

But on the other hand, there are moments when the writer communicates very deeply and narrowly.
