e professora na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande

e trabalho nas disciplinas de tridimensionalidade

and I work in the subjects of three-dimensionality

O ecossistema inventado

The invented ecosystem

foi um conceito que eu trabalhei na minha tese de doutorado

It was a concept that I worked on in my doctoral thesis.

em que o ecossistema seria um conjunto de objetos que eu crio

In that the ecosystem would be a set of objects that I create.

a partir de outros objetos cotidianos

from other everyday objects

que estariam interagindo com as pessoas no ambiente

that would be interacting with people in the environment

e o ecossistema inventado seria então uma exposição

and the invented ecosystem would then be an exhibition

em que esses objetos estariam num espaço definido

In what way would these objects be in a defined space?

que é o espaço da galeria

what is the gallery space

então nesse espaço estariam os objetos que eu crio

so in this space would be the objects that I create

que eu chamo de elementos ou conjuntos simbióticos

that I call symbiotic elements or sets

com as pessoas que estão visitando a exposição

with the people who are visiting the exhibition

Essa afinidade com os objetos já vem de muito tempo

This affinity with objects has been around for a long time.

eu sempre gostei de coisas, de coisinhas, de coisinhas pequenas

I have always liked things, little things, small little things.

desde criança

since childhood

só que eu não tinha muita consciência disso

it's just that I wasn't very aware of it

quando isso apareceu na minha poética

when this appeared in my poetry

eu não tinha muita consciência

aos poucos isso foi cada vez tomando mais volume

então com o tempo eu fui aprendendo que esses objetos

traziam em si uma história

o contexto de onde eles vieram

ou quem usa

então quando eu trabalho com alfinete

so when I work with a pin

quem vê o alfinete já remete logo à costura

Who sees the pin immediately thinks of sewing.

já remete a um ambiente de costura

it already refers to a sewing environment

de quem usa esse objeto

of those who use this object

então quando eu trago as bobinas de máquina de costura

so when I bring the sewing machine spools

é do mesmo jeito

it's the same way

então não dá para negar a origem do objeto

so it can't be denied the origin of the object

e o que ele traz de história

and what he brings in terms of history

dentro do contexto da arte

within the context of art

então eu...

eu uso isso também para expressar o que eu estou querendo dizer

I use this to express what I am trying to say.

em relação à construção dessas coisas

então isso já vem de muito tempo no meu trabalho

a interação com o espectador é muito subjetiva

the interaction with the spectator is very subjective

porque como os trabalhos não requerem uma interação física a princípio

a interação é mais com a experiência que cada um tem

das suas vivências

e o reconhecimento daquele objeto

dentro da sua vivência

então vai por esse caminho

a princípio eu não fico pensando muito nisso

sempre eu trabalho com o que o objeto me oferece

I always work with what the object offers me.

em questões de cultura

em questões de forma

in matters of form

de cor

by heart

de relação que ele tem com outro objeto

of relationship that he has with another object

e eu sempre penso ele como um objeto escultórico em si

And I always think of him as a sculptural object in itself.

como uma pequena escultura

como um pequeno objeto tridimensional

que tem uma estética que me agrada

então eu vou tentando juntar pequenos objetos

so I keep trying to collect small objects

criando esses conjuntos simbióticos que eu digo

e às vezes tem esses encontros

parecem cruéis mas não tem essa intenção

mas isso aparece muito pouco no trabalho

ele é uma provocação

o olhar atento

para quem chega e olha com atenção

ele vai perceber

que os objetos que estão projetados ali

eles são pequenos

e aí fica a dúvida

essa cadeira será que ela está no tamanho natural

o que é grande, o que é pequeno

então isso é uma pergunta que eu tenho

e o trabalho tem a intenção de jogar mesmo

com a questão de escala do corpo

with the issue of body scale

com os objetos que a gente convive no dia a dia

with the objects that we interact with in our daily lives

então que tamanho tem essas coisas

so what size are these things

que relação meu corpo tem com elas

what relationship does my body have with them

e porque às vezes eu não enxergo essas coisas

and because sometimes I don't see these things

então esse trabalho tenta

so this work tries

provocar o espectador

provoke the viewer

para que ele olhe para essas coisas

so that he looks at these things

para que ele tenha um pouco dessa dimensão

so that he has a bit of this dimension

do tamanho, da escala

of the size, of the scale

entre as pessoas e as coisas

então na verdade

quando eu apresento esse trabalho

eu não estou me sentindo como uma pessoa

I don't feel like a person.

quando eu coloco assim

eu estou provocando o espectador para que ele olhe

I am provoking the viewer to look.

e pense nesses tamanhos

and think about those sizes

então o objeto fica agigantado

then the object becomes gigantic

e eu fico no mesmo tamanho do objeto

and I stay the same size as the object

então é uma maneira de que

so it's a way that

as pessoas se sintam um pouco diminuídas

the people feel a little diminished

em relação aos objetos

regarding the objects

como se eles estivessem entrando

as if they were entering

num lugar em que os objetos

in a place where the objects

sejam grandes e eles pequenos

é mais ou menos nesse sentido
