Agora, antes de eu falar um pouco sobre o Niquete, eu só queria dar alguns elementos gerais sobre Moçambique, né?

Now, before I talk a little about Niquete, I just wanted to provide some general elements about Mozambique, right?

Como eu já contei, é um país que também foi colonizado por Portugal, só que eles ficaram no status de colônia, ou seja, sendo explorados, etc.

E sendo forçados ali a abraçar identidades que não eram as próprias delas.

Então, o que a gente consegue perceber é que Moçambique ainda vive uma realidade de tentar duas coisas, né?

So much to rise up, to recover from centuries of Portuguese exploitation, right?

Como também das guerras seguidas, que ocuparam praticamente a segunda metade inteira ali do século XX, né?

Então, ainda é um país que tenta se reerguer e se restabelecer de toda essa luta, né?

So, it is still a country that is trying to rise again and recover from all that struggle, right?

Outra coisa importante que a gente precisa ter em mente é que existe uma divisão bastante marcada de hábitos e comportamentos culturais entre o norte e o sul do país, e que vai aparecer na história.

Another important thing we need to keep in mind is that there is a clear division of habits and cultural behaviors between the north and south of the country, which will be reflected in the story.

É claro que aqui, né? Isso não é, para quem é brasileiro, isso não é nenhuma novidade.

Então, Niket, uma história de poligamia, vai falar, então, dessa dança de relacionamentos

e também a introdução dessas mulheres ali, a questão da poligamia, que eu vou falar um pouquinho mais adiante.

Quem é a narradora dessa história, ou seja, uma história narrada em primeira pessoa, é a Rami, que é uma mulher forte, né? Um mulherão mesmo.

Ela tem 40 anos e ela vive em Maputo, né? A capital do país, que é no extremo sul de Moçambique.

Paga as contas, né? Faz o que tem que fazer ali na vida conjugal e deixa a Rami, né? A Rami que lute com os filhos e a realidade doméstica.

Pay the bills, right? Do what needs to be done in married life and let Rami handle it, right? Let Rami fight with the kids and the domestic reality.

É curioso pensar que, mesmo estando em outro continente, essa é uma realidade comum às mulheres, né? Ou seja, mulheres que vivem isso aqui, mulheres que vivem isso no Moçambique, né?

It's curious to think that, even being in another continent, this is a common reality for women, right? That is, women who experience this here, women who experience this in Mozambique, right?

Bom, e aí a narrativa começa...

Well, and then the narrative begins...

Com um pepino bem tranquilo de resolver, né? Então, começa com a Rami ouvindo um barulho na rua. Ela acha que pode ser coisa de guerra de novo, né? Bomba e tal.

With a cucumber that's pretty easy to handle, right? So, it starts with Rami hearing a noise in the street. She thinks it might be something related to war again, right? Bombs and such.

E, na verdade, foi um dos filhos dela com o Tony que estourou o vidro de um carro. E aí ela tem que sair para resolver. Está fácil a vida, né?

And, actually, it was one of her children with Tony who broke the glass of a car. And then she has to go out to sort it out. Life is easy, right?

E aí o motorista, vendo que aquela mulher está sozinha, passando um perrengue com um monte de filho, né? Resolvendo o problema, cuidando da família do jeito que ela pode, sem amparo, sem um companheiro ali.

And then the driver, seeing that the woman is alone, struggling with a bunch of kids, right? Solving the problem, taking care of the family the best way she can, without support, without a partner there.

Ele fica um pouco com pena, né? Então, ali, na verdade, a gente tem uma contextualização do que é a vida de uma mulher do sul do Moçambique, né?

He feels a bit sorry, right? So, there, in fact, we have a contextualization of what life is like for a woman from southern Mozambique, right?

Casada com um monte de filho e uma cacetada de coisa para resolver sozinha.

Married with a bunch of kids and a whole lot of things to sort out by myself.

Rami reveals that she discovered her husband, Tony, is polygamous. The sweet guy has several wives. And she didn't know, right? So, it wasn't a mutual agreement, you know?

Era uma surpresa mesmo. Tipo um Kinder Ovo, só que ruim.

It was really a surprise. Like a Kinder Egg, but bad.

E aí, inicialmente, o reflexo dela é se culpar, pensar no que ela fez de errado, porque que esse cara não tem mais interesse de ficar só com ela, o que aconteceu.

So, initially, her reflex is to blame herself, to think about what she did wrong, why this guy is no longer interested in just being with her, what happened.

E aí, também, nesse processo, ela parte desse solavanco que ela sofre, ela entende que ela precisa se conhecer e se descobrir... Ela individualmente quem ela é, né?
