Cris, a sua ligação com a preparação corporal e os estudos físicos, eles começaram com a dança.

Cris, your connection with physical preparation and studies in physical education began with dance.

E você criou a sua própria metodologia.

And you created your own methodology.

Conta um pouquinho pra gente toda essa sua iniciação e como você trouxe a dança pra sua profissão.

Tell us a little about your initiation and how you brought dance into your profession.

Muito gostoso poder falar de dança um pouquinho.

It's very nice to be able to talk about dance a little bit.

Então, na verdade, veio da dança e dos esportes, né?

So, actually, it came from dance and sports, right?

Eu passei a minha infância e pré-adolescente.

I spent my childhood and pre-adolescence.

Início de adolescência, praticando alguns esportes.

Early adolescence, practicing some sports.

Meu sonho era ser jogadora de vôlei.

My dream was to be a volleyball player.

Eu era alta e eu jogava.

I was tall and I played.

Mas aí chegou o momento que eu parei de crescer.

But then came the moment when I stopped growing.

E aí, em paralelo aos esportes, eu comecei a fazer dança bem pequena.

And then, alongside sports, I started dancing when I was very little.

E passei pelo balé, pelo jazz, pela dança afro.

And I went through ballet, jazz, and Afro dance.

E quando eu me formei estrutura de aeróbica,

And when I graduated in aerobic structure,

eu fiz a dança.

I did the dance.

A formação pra fazer instrução de aeróbica.

The training to conduct aerobics instruction.

A minha professora me chamou pra dar aula com ela.

My teacher called me to teach with her.

Eu tinha, acho que, 16 pra 17 anos.

I was, I think, 16 or 17 years old.

E aí eu falei, não, eu quero ir pro teatro.

And then I said, no, I want to go to the theater.

Eu quero ir pro teatro porque no teatro eu posso viver várias vidas.

I want to go to the theater because in the theater I can live many lives.

Eu tinha essa ideia de querer viver outras vidas e tal.

I had this idea of wanting to live other lives and such.

E aí, como eu já sabia que eu não ia conseguir seguir o vôlei,

So, since I already knew I wouldn't be able to continue with volleyball,

ainda praticava, mas eu não ia.

I was still practicing, but I wasn't going.

Eu consegui fazer isso profissionalmente.

I managed to do that professionally.

Eu fui pro teatro e eu abandonei a dança e abandonei os esportes.

I went to the theater and I gave up dance and I gave up sports.

No final das contas, quando eu comecei a fazer teatro amador com 15 anos de idade,

In the end, when I started doing amateur theater at the age of 15,

e aí eu fui fazer a escola de formação como atriz.

And then I went to do the training school as an actress.

O Indac, que é onde eu dou aula hoje.

The Indac, which is where I teach today.

E aí, quando eu tava no segundo ano do Indac,

So, when I was in the second year of Indac,

eu fui assistir o espetáculo da Companhia do Azadã.

I went to watch the show of the Azadã Company.

Eu nunca sei falar direito o nome dele.

I can never pronounce his name correctly.

Eu assisti o primeiro trabalho deles.

I watched their first work.

E aí, quando eu vi eles no palco, eu falei,

And then, when I saw them on stage, I said,

eles fazem tudo o que eu gosto, não só teatro.

They do everything I like, not just theater.

Eles fazem dança, eles fazem uma pesquisa física.

They dance, they do a physical research.

E eu fiquei muito apaixonada por isso.

And I fell very much in love with it.

Nunca imaginei que eu seria professora de expressão corporal.

I never imagined that I would be a teacher of body expression.

Mas aí, quando eu vi eles em cena,

But then, when I saw them on stage,

eu fiquei muito apaixonada por isso.

I became very in love with this.

Mudou. Mudou uma chavinha.

It changed. A little switch changed.

Eu já tava, acho que há sete anos, fazendo teatro.

I had already been doing theater for, I think, seven years.

E eu falei, é possível a pesquisa física.

And I said, it is possible to do physical research.

Mas continuei apaixonada por eles,

But I continued to be in love with them,

seguindo o trabalho deles, sigo até hoje,

following their work, I continue to this day,

sou bem fãzona deles.

I'm a big fan of theirs.

Mas nesse momento, eu tava com uma amiga minha,

But at that moment, I was with a friend of mine,

que é bailarina.

what is a dancer.

E ela falou, vamos fazer um trabalho juntas.

And she said, let's do some work together.

Pro Indac, uma experiência que o nosso professor de corpo,

Pro Indac, an experience that our body teacher,

Muniche, propôs pra gente.

Muniche proposed it to us.

E aí, a partir disso, a gente criou uma companhia de teatro-dança.

So, from that, we created a theater-dance company.

Aí, eu fiquei quase dez anos nessa companhia de teatro-dança.

So, I stayed almost ten years in that theater-dance company.

E aí, o nosso professor de expressão corporal

So, our body expression teacher

veio fazer parte dessa companhia.

came to be part of this company.

Depois, nós dois seguimos sozinhos,

Then, the two of us went on alone,

em outra companhia, eu e ele.

In another company, he and I.

E ele foi embora pra BH,

And he went away to BH,

e ele me indicou pra dar aula de expressão corporal.

And he recommended me to teach body expression.

No lugar dele, no Indac, foi como, eu falei assim,

In his place, at Indac, it was like, I said like this,

uma expressão corporal, eu não achei que eu seria capaz.

a body expression, I didn't think I would be capable.

Mas depois, eu fui, conforme eu fui dando aula,

But then, as I was teaching,

no decorrer desses anos todos,

over all these years,

eu falei, nossa, minha ligação com o corpo

I said, wow, my connection with the body.

nunca deixou de existir.

never ceased to exist.

E aí, eu comecei a criar, desenvolver um trabalho meu,

So, I started to create, develop my own work,

de pesquisa de dramaturgia física,

of physical playwriting research,

porque eu sou, eu descobri que eu sou apaixonada

because I am, I discovered that I am in love

por contar histórias e o corpo.

for telling stories and the body.

E eu acho que o corpo conta histórias, né?

And I think the body tells stories, right?

Muito rapidamente, foi assim que eu comecei a dar aula

Very quickly, that's how I started teaching.

e comecei a querer desenvolver a minha metodologia

and I started wanting to develop my methodology

de pesquisa, de criação teatral, através do corpo.

of research, of theatrical creation, through the body.

Hi, thank you for the invitation.

Bom, eu tenho 15 musicais profissionais, né?

Well, I have 15 professional musicals, right?

Eu venho da dança, então...

I come from dance, so...

Eu venho do balé, do sapateado.

I come from ballet, from tap dancing.

Meu primeiro musical foi Cats,

My first musical was Cats,

que é um musical de muita dança.

It is a musical with a lot of dancing.

E isso, pra mim, foi muito forte mesmo,

And that, for me, was very strong indeed,

essa questão de contar a história com o corpo.

this issue of telling the story with the body.

A gente sempre cresce, quem trabalha com a dança,

We always grow, those who work with dance,

fala, você precisa contar a história com o seu corpo.

Speak, you need to tell the story with your body.

E, através disso, eu fui buscando também outras linguagens, né?

And, through that, I was also seeking other languages, right?

Como o canto, o teatro,

Like song, theater,

essa entrada no Cats,

this entry in Cats,

que foi o meu primeiro musical,

that was my first musical,

fez com que a dança tivesse um novo significado, assim, pra mim,

made the dance have a new meaning, thus, for me,

de mexer com isso, com o teatro,

messing with this, with the theater,

com essa nova linguagem no meu corpo.

with this new language in my body.

E eu acho que é isso.

And I think that's it.

E hoje você já tá trabalhando como coreógrafa, né?

And today you are already working as a choreographer, right?

No Cats você tava como bailarina, fazia parte do coro,

In Cats, you were a dancer, part of the chorus.

e hoje você tá à frente dos musicais.

And today you're at the forefront of the musicals.

Inclusive tá parado agora com a Fantástica Fábrica de Chocolate, é isso?

So it's currently on hold with the Fantastic Chocolate Factory, is that it?

Então, contando um pouquinho, eu comecei lá no Cats,

So, to share a bit, I started there at Cats,

eu entrei como bailarina, né?

I started as a dancer, right?

Eu entrei como swing cover, substituía muitos personagens.

I joined as a swing cover, substituting for many characters.

Foi um desafio tremendo.

It was a tremendous challenge.

Um grande musical da Broadway, meu primeiro.

A great Broadway musical, my first.

E, a partir dessa questão muito forte da dança,

And, from this very strong issue of dance,

eu fui crescendo dentro dos musicais

I grew up in musicals.

e fui admirando as outras áreas, né?

And I was admiring the other areas, right?

As coreografias, a direção...

The choreography, the direction...

Depois do Cats, eu fui conhecendo outros gêneros, né?

After Cats, I started to discover other genres, right?

Outros diretores, fui fazendo vários outros musicais.

Other directors, I was making several other musicals.

Veio New York, Mamma Mia, Hair, Ghost.

Came to New York, Mamma Mia, Hair, Ghost.

E aí eu recebi um convite de um diretor,

And then I received an invitation from a director,

como eu tenho o sapateado como a minha principal habilidade,

since I have tap dancing as my main skill,

eu recebi um convite pra ser uma assistente de coreografia

I received an invitation to be a choreographic assistant.

dentro de um musical e fazer a coreografia dos musicais.

inside a musical and doing the choreography of the musicals.

Então aí eu entrei no que foi a Madrinha Embriagada,

So there I got into what was the Drunken Godmother,

como assistente de coreografia da Katia, da Katia Barros,

as Katia Barros' choreography assistant,

com direção do Miguel Falabella.

directed by Miguel Falabella.

E aí eu fiz a parte da coreografia.

And then I did the choreography part.

E aí eu fiquei com um gostinho a mais nessa questão

And then I was left with a little extra taste in this matter.

de ajudar os atores a contar a história.

to help the actors tell the story.

Então eu comecei a ser assistente, ser assistente de direção,

So I started to be an assistant, to be an assistant director,

e fui pra esse caminho.

and I went along this path.

E agora, dois dias antes de estrear,

And now, two days before its premiere,

Charlie e a Fantástica Fábrica de Chocolate,

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,

com direção de John e Stephanie, que é o diretor da Broadway,

e eu sou assistente.

Dois dias pra estrear, pum, lockdown.

Então a gente tá aqui no aguardo pra poder voltar

So we are here waiting to be able to return.

e contar essa linda história, que ficou muito bonita.

and tell this beautiful story, which turned out very lovely.

Uma grande produção.

eu acho que ela com certeza contribui, assim,

que é uma dança, como principal característica do hip-hop, né,

que é uma dança que sai desse núcleo, né,

what is a dance that comes out of this nucleus, right,

das danças clássicas e elitizadas.

of classical and elitist dances.

E eu acho que sim, com toda certeza,

And I think so, for sure,

quanto mais artistas que querem ter o balé, né,

the more artists want to have the ballet, right,

que querem ter dança como componente pra incrementar, né,

they want to have dance as a component to enhance it, right,

pra incrementar os seus shows,

to enhance your shows,

isso com certeza fomenta o mercado e gera mais emprego,

this definitely stimulates the market and creates more jobs,

gera mais gente querendo dançar também,

it generates more people wanting to dance too,

gente querendo aprender as coreografias,

people wanting to learn the choreographies,

e aí o mercado caminha, né, é bem capitalizado.

So the market is moving along, right? It's well-capitalized.

Mas o grande lance pra mim, por exemplo, que vem das danças urbanas,

But the big deal for me, for example, that comes from urban dances,

é que a gente não tem no Brasil artistas que trabalhem nessa linha do hip-hop em si, né.

It's just that we don't have artists in Brazil who work in this line of hip-hop itself, you know.

Mas se a gente for pensar no funk,

But if we think about funk,

que eu acho que é a indústria popular brasileira, né,

what I think is Brazilian popular industry, right,

que é o que gera muito dinheiro,

which is what generates a lot of money,

que é a Anitta, que é a Ludmilla,

que são as principais artistas do nosso Brasil hoje, assim,

tem hoje em dia com essa quantidade de aplicativo

These days, with this number of apps.

e essa demanda de viralizar conteúdos, né,

and this demand to make content go viral, right,

cada vez mais o que a gente tem que entregar em cena

increasingly what we have to deliver on stage

às vezes precisa ser reduzido, facilitado,

sometimes it needs to be reduced, simplified,

pra que o público consiga pegar,

so that the audience can understand,

então a gente tem esse movimento que ao mesmo tempo é ótimo,

so then we have this movement that is at the same time great,

porque a quantidade de pessoas que estão dançando,

because the number of people dancing,

que estão querendo aprender,

that they want to learn,

principalmente agora em quarentena, né,

especially now in quarantine, right,

que a gente teve essa febre do TikTok,

that we had this TikTok craze,

aumentou, assim, muito a demanda de artistas que entraram em contato

thus greatly increased the demand from artists who got in touch

pra gravar videoclipe, pra fazer challenge,

to record a music video, to make a challenge,

pra fazer conteúdo de internet com dança,

to create internet content with dance,

pelo menos pra mim aumentou muito, assim,

At least for me, it has increased a lot, like,

eu trabalhei muito na quarentena por conta disso,

I worked a lot during the quarantine because of that,

então sem dúvida eu acho que contribui no mercado.

So without a doubt I think I contributed to the market.

Talvez então a gente possa dizer que tudo isso ajuda na democratização,

Perhaps then we can say that all of this helps in democratization,

mas até que ponto vocês acham que o entretenimento,

but to what extent do you think entertainment,

ele atrapalha essa essência artística da dança?

Does he interfere with the artistic essence of dance?

Cris, eu queria que você comentasse um pouquinho disso,
