A gente se conheceu no meio da pandemia, acho que no primeiro curso presencial que a gente resolveu fazer.

We met in the middle of the pandemic, I think at the first in-person course that we decided to take.

Foi. Foi eu sair da toca ali e tava com bastante medo ainda da pandemia, mas eu achei que tava na hora também de começar.

It was. I left the burrow there and was still quite scared of the pandemic, but I thought it was also time to start.

Fui lá voltar a interagir com pessoas na vida real e foi bem legal.

I went there to interact with people in real life again and it was really cool.

Foi. Foi o mesmo sentimento que eu tinha, assim, também. Eu fiquei trancada em casa o tempo todo.

It was. It was the same feeling I had, too. I stayed locked up at home all the time.

Falei, ai, meu Deus, será que eu vou? Será que eu vou?

I said, oh my God, am I really going? Am I really going?

Falei, não, acho que vamos começar a arriscar. E aí eu fui.

I said no, I think we're going to start taking risks. And then I went.

E aí foi legal que a gente se conheceu e, nesse dia, você contou essa história pra mim.

And it was nice that we met, and that day, you told me this story.

Foi. A gente tava almoçando, né?

It was. We were having lunch, right?

Foi um almoço bem gostoso, bem descontraído e a gente começou a contar, o quê? Histórias, né?

So, I don't know what happened, I don't know, between one beer and another, I started to tell what happened.

Bom, professora de inglês, eu já tava trabalhando numa escola de idiomas há um tempo já, há uns seis anos.

Well, English teacher, I had already been working at a language school for a while, for about six years.

Antes eu tinha sido professora em outra rede.

Before, I had been a teacher in another network.

Então, já fazia mais de dez anos que eu já tava dando aula.

So, it had been over ten years that I had been teaching.

Não era uma professora iniciante, já era uma professora aí com bastante tempo.

She wasn't a beginner teacher; she had already been a teacher for quite some time.

Já, já tinha uma jornada.

Already, there was a journey.

E aí, eu comecei a dar aula pra essa turma dele, um curso intensivo, mas que agora era bastante extensa.

So, I started teaching this class of his, an intensive course, but now it was quite extensive.

Então, eu via essa turma duas vezes por semana, mas acho que eram quase quatro horas de aula.

So, I saw this group twice a week, but I think it was almost four hours of class.

Duas aulas de duas horas.

Two classes of two hours each.

Isso, isso.

That's it, that's it.

Legal, legal.

Cool, cool.

E era uma turma muito, muito bacana, com só adultos, né?

And it was a really, really cool group, with only adults, right?

A gente se dava muito bem, tinha uma afinidade muito grande.

We got along very well, there was a strong affinity between us.

Aquela turma que você vai feliz, sabe, se realiza.

That group you go to happily, you know, fulfills you.

Eles topavam de tudo.

They were up for anything.

É bom quando tem uma turma assim, né?

E eles se jogavam, sabe?

And they would throw themselves, you know?

Confiavam muito no meu trabalho e era uma delícia.

They trusted my work a lot, and it was a delight.

E eu tinha esse aluno, o Marcelo.

And I had this student, Marcelo.

Então, eu tinha um carinho muito especial por ele desde o começo.

So, I had a very special fondness for him from the beginning.

Só depois que eu olhei pra trás e comecei a ver que desde o comecinho eu tinha esse carinho especial.

Only after I looked back and started to see that since the very beginning I had this special affection.

Eu achava ele especialmente muito generoso.

A gente tinha uma prática muito comum que era formem pares, discutam, trios.

We had a very common practice which was to form pairs, discuss, trios.

E aí o professor fica ali, né?

And then the teacher stays there, right?

Monitorando, tomando nota.

Monitoring, taking note.

E às vezes eu ficava meio que de butuca ali nas conversas dele pra saber um pouco mais sobre a vida dele, sabe?

And sometimes I would kind of eavesdrop on his conversations to learn a little more about his life, you know?

Ah, como foi o fim de semana?

Ah, how was the weekend?

Nossa, fui fazer isso, fui fazer aquilo.

Wow, I went to do this, I went to do that.

Eu ficava curiosa pra saber mais da vida dele.

I was curious to know more about his life.

E pior, eu ficava com ciúmes quando ele falava que o fim de semana tinha sido super legal.

And worse, I would get jealous when he said that the weekend had been super fun.

E?

And?

Sabe?

Do you know?

Ah, o meu foi uma bosta.

Ah, mine was a mess.

Até aí era relação aluno-professor.

Up to that point, it was a student-teacher relationship.

A gente já tinha combinado, a turma, né?

De a gente fazer um get-together pra terminar e selar o final do semestre.

To have a get-together to wrap up and seal the end of the semester.

Ah, sair um dia, ir pra um barzinho.

Ah, to go out one day, to a little bar.

E aí, na última semana, não sei, porque a gente se encontrou na parte ali na biblioteca.

So, last week, I don't know, because we met over there in the library.

Eu tava com uma blusinha que aparecia meu colo, né?

I was wearing a top that showed my collarbone, right?

O colo, assim, da parte do corpo aqui, abaixo do pescoço.

E aí apareceu uma manchinha que eu tenho de nascença.
