Chapter 5 Bought or Won Student

No caminho da capoeira nós temos alguns tropeços acompanhados de alguns espinhos ao longo do caminho

On the path of capoeira, we encounter some stumbles accompanied by some thorns along the way.

e às vezes nós, líderes, fazemos algumas escolhas erradas ao apostarmos em certos alunos

And sometimes we, leaders, make some wrong choices by betting on certain students.

e depois ficamos com aquele sentimento de termos sido roubados quando esse aluno vai para outra escola ou academia

And then we are left with the feeling of having been robbed when that student goes to another school or gym.

Eu penso que, na verdade, existem dois tipos de alunos entre aqueles que migram de uma escola para outra

I believe that, in fact, there are two types of students among those who migrate from one school to another.

Existe o aluno conquistado

There is the achieved student.

Esse é aquele aluno que começa em uma escola ou academia ainda criança

This is that student who starts in a school or academy while still a child.

e tudo que o seu mentor lhe diz, ele responde com amém

And everything your mentor tells you, he responds with amen.

Só que toda criança cresce

Only that every child grows up.

Um dia se torna uma pessoa adulta

One day a person becomes an adult.

e como tal, provido de inteligência, este vai em busca de sua melhora

and as such, endowed with intelligence, it seeks its improvement

e olha para o seu mentor, para os seus colegas e vê que não está crescendo como deveria

And he looks at his mentor, at his colleagues, and sees that he is not growing as he should.

Ele vê uma nova escola na qual parece que todos crescem e desenvolvem

He sees a new school where it seems that everyone grows and develops.

Então, a culpa dele ter ido para outra academia não é do mestre que o aceitou

So, the blame for him going to another gym is not on the master who accepted him.

e sim do seu atual mentor

and indeed from your current mentor

que não supriu a necessidade do aluno que foi conquistado por algo que tinha na sua antiga escola

that did not meet the needs of the student who was won over by something they had at their old school.

Assim como o aluno conquistado, existe o aluno comprado

Just as there is the acquired student, there is the bought student.

Este é aquele que está muito bem e se sente muito feliz na sua escola

mas o mestre não consegue enxergar que o aluno é ambicioso

but the teacher cannot see that the student is ambitious

Não vê nos olhos dos componentes do grupo quem é quem

You can't see in the eyes of the group members who is who.

Não percebe que está na hora de deixar o aluno ir para a escola

Don't you realize it's time to let the student go to school?

Ele perde algumas regras de lado

He puts some rules aside.

e perde alunos para outras escolas por coisas simples

and loses students to other schools for simple things

como uma calça, uma camisa

like pants, a shirt

ou melhor, quando o aluno ganha uma graduação em outra escola

or rather, when the student earns a degree from another school

Aí, o seu antigo mentor geralmente diz que o aluno foi comprado

There, your former mentor usually says that the student was bought.

Eu já penso o seguinte

O aluno só quis crescer

The student just wanted to grow.

Então, não existe aluno comprado ou seduzido

Ele foi buscar a melhora dele

He went to seek his improvement.

E como todo bom mestre que incentiva o aluno

Eu não vejo nada de errado se o aluno quiser seguir com outra bandeira ou outra escola

I don't see anything wrong if the student wants to follow another banner or another school.

Se os nossos filhos fazem isso
