Mas esse emprego chegou quando eu tinha 21 anos.

Fui selecionado para uma vaga de office boy em uma empresa de logística que dava cesta básica e clique de refeição.

I was selected for a position as an office boy in a logistics company that provided a food basket and meal vouchers.

Ou seja, tinha saído melhor que a encomenda.

In other words, it had turned out better than expected.

Eu ficaria lá nos próximos anos, tinha a possibilidade de crescer lá dentro,

mas sentia que faltava algo, que fosse mais desafiador.

Então eu resolvi prestar vestibular, tentei na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, a UFMG e na estadual, a UENG,

Em ambas, eu tentei pedagogia, mas não tive um bom desempenho em uma das duas,

Acabei tendo em mãos um da Pontifícia Universidade de Minas Gerais,

I ended up with one from the Pontifical University of Minas Gerais,

e me deparei com informações sobre o curso de Ciência da Informação,

and I came across information about the Information Science course,

que era ofertado pelo Instituto de Informática.

that was offered by the Institute of Informatics.

Como sempre, tive certa dificuldade de me ver fazendo a mesma coisa durante muito tempo,

As always, I had some difficulty envisioning myself doing the same thing for a long time,

eu gostei da ideia de um curso tão gerencial como este se apresentava,

I liked the idea of a course that was so managerial as this one presented itself,

e considerei ser uma boa opção.

and I considered it to be a good option.

Só tinha um problema, a PUC era uma instituição privada,

There was only one problem, PUC was a private institution,

e na época sequer havia programas como o ProUni.

And at that time, there were not even programs like ProUni.

No entanto, eu fiquei sabendo que havia um programa de assistência estudantil

However, I found out that there was a student assistance program.

que oferecia bolsas entre 10% e 90% de desconto,

a depender da situação socioeconômica e familiar do estudante.

Prestei o vestibular, fui aprovado em uma das primeiras colocações,

e entrei com um pedido de bolsa, sendo contemplado com 60%.

I submitted a scholarship application and was awarded 60%.

Então assim, eu começo a estudar na faculdade,

So, I start studying at college,

eu estudava de 7 da manhã ao meio dia,

I studied from 7 in the morning until noon.

e trabalhava da 1 da tarde às 23 horas da noite.

and worked from 1 in the afternoon to 11 at night.

Sempre mirando o mercado, sempre analisando possíveis empresas

Always watching the market, always analyzing potential companies.

onde eu podia trabalhar, estagiar, estava atento às vagas de estágio,

where I could work, intern, I was attentive to the internship openings,

mas como ainda pagava um valor alto na faculdade,

but since I was still paying a high amount for college,

eu não podia abrir mão do emprego, pois era ele que me permitia cursar na faculdade.

I couldn't give up my job, as it was what allowed me to attend college.

Mas me preocupava me formar sem ter atuado na área ou aprimorado meu currículo

But I was worried about graduating without having worked in the field or improved my resume.

Assim, eu participei de uma seleção para ser voluntário de um projeto de iniciação científica,

E durante essa experiência de iniciação científica,

eu fui descobrindo um gosto pela pesquisa e pela academia
