A flor rara

Hoje eu vim contar uma história minha que se chama A Flor Rara,

Today I came to tell a story of mine called The Rare Flower.

que eu consegui justamente graças a minha professora Valkyria.

E agora eu vou começar a contar.

And now I will start to tell.

Um belo dia, eu fui ao rio e vi uma flor rara.

One beautiful day, I went to the river and saw a rare flower.

A flor era vermelha, azul e brilhava à noite.

The flower was red, blue, and glowed at night.

Toda noite eu ia ver aquela flor brilhar.

Every night I would go see that flower shine.

As flores não eram iguais a essa flor, que brilhava.

The flowers were not like this flower, which shone.

Arranquei essa flor e todas as outras se murcharam.

I pulled out this flower and all the others wilted.

A Índia falou, o que aconteceu com as flores?

India spoke, what happened to the flowers?

Será que foi porque eu puxei a flor brilhante?

Was it because I pulled the shining flower?

A Índia foi procurar seu pai para saber o segredo da flor.

India went to find her father to learn the secret of the flower.

Ela o encontrou e perguntou, pai, qual é o segredo dessa flor?

She found him and asked, father, what is the secret of this flower?

O pai então respondeu, filha, essa flor é a mais rara da Índia.

The father then replied, daughter, this flower is the rarest in India.

E se ela for puxada do seu lugar, não haverá mais flor aqui.

And if she is pulled from her place, there will be no more flower here.

Então a menina falou, mas eu puxei a flor.

Then the girl spoke, but I pulled the flower.

O pai falou, se acalme minha filha, essa não é a única em nossa aldeia.

The father said, calm down my daughter, she is not the only one in our village.

Eu estava só brincando, nossa, que bom que existe outra flor.

I was just kidding, wow, it's great that there's another flower.

Mas por que as outras caíram?

But why did the others fall?

O pai lhe respondeu, é porque, como não está chovendo, as flores ficaram murchas.

The father replied to him, it’s because, since it’s not raining, the flowers have wilted.

Eu achei que fosse por minha causa.

I thought it was because of me.

Mas tem uma erva da unhinha que pode sim acabar com a natureza e se chama o homem, disse seu pai.

"But there is a herb called man that can indeed destroy nature," said his father.

Por que, pai, o homem?

Why, father, the man?

O homem, filha, o homem é uma coisa.

The man, daughter, the man is a thing.

O homem é o que mais mata a natureza, corta as árvores, tira as coisas de que deveriam ficar no seu lugar.

Man is the one who kills nature the most, cutting down trees and taking things that should remain in their place.

Como assim, tira as coisas que tinham que ficar no seu lugar?

What do you mean, taking out the things that were supposed to stay in their place?

Perguntou a Índia.

Asked India.

Assim como você tirou a flor do lugar, disse seu pai.

Just as you took the flower out of its place, said your father.

Então eu virei um homem, papai?

So I became a man, dad?

Não, filha, você fez sem querer.

No, daughter, you did it by accident.

O homem faz consciente.

The man makes conscious.

A Índia, então, quis que todo homem tivesse a consciência.

India then wanted every man to have consciousness.

E não destruísse a natureza.

And do not destroy nature.
