I have also never seen aspirants from Egypt.

Minha vida é sacudida como um velho cometa pelo céu da selca

My life is shaken like an old comet across the sky of the selca.

Meu pai trabalhava como taxista dia e noite e ganhava porra

My father worked as a taxi driver day and night and earned nothing.

Os pais de meus amigos ganhavam ainda menos

My friends' parents earned even less.

Eu não escrevi um poema poderoso entre as ruas de Berlim

I did not write a powerful poem among the streets of Berlin.

Os devaneiros

The daydreams

São as últimas moedas que nos deixaram

They are the last coins that they left us.

Ou melhor dizendo, não conseguiram roubar de nossas vísceras

Or rather, they couldn't steal from our innards.

Não me inspirou um canto em uma praia perdida e misteriosa

It didn't inspire me a song on a lost and mysterious beach.

Eu não vi o mundo desde o alto das montanhas do Himalaia

I haven't seen the world from the heights of the Himalayas.

Mas vi o mundo desde o poema

But I saw the world through the poem.

Escrevo em companhia dos que atravessaram o cinto dos sonhos

I write in the company of those who have crossed the belt of dreams.

Para encontrarem-se com a morte

To meet with death

Dos que disseram

Of those who said

Pão nosso

Our bread

De cada dia nos dai hoje

Give us this day our daily bread.

E não foram escutados

And they were not heard.

Os que perampulam pelo númio

Those who wander through the nimium

Com os pés ensanguentados

With bloodied feet

E um barco de sapaça nas mãos

And a boat of sap in hand.

Escrevo em companhia deles

I write in their company.

Que não dormiram nos jardins catais de Matal

That did not sleep in the Matal catacombs gardens.

Escrevo em companhia deles

I write in their company.

Para os quais o coliseu segue sempre

For whom the coliseum always follows.

Uma mostra de aflição e crueldade

A display of anguish and cruelty

E agora lhes digo

And now I tell you

Suas orelhas

Your ears

São mais fascinantes

They are more fascinating.

Que qualquer templo grego

Than any Greek temple.

Há mais em um só liceu e soluço

There is more in a single high school and sob.

Que em todas as ruas de Paris

That in all the streets of Paris

Em companhia deles

In their company

Conservei os focos da minha vida

I preserved the focal points of my life.

E da minha morte

And from my death.

Também não ganhei as pirâmides do Egito

I also didn't win the pyramids of Egypt.

Mas junto de mim
