This man calls for Elijah, and soon one of them ran, took a sponge, soaked it in vinegar, and put it on a stick to give him a drink.

Outros disseram, deixa, vejamos se Elias vem salvá-lo.

Others said, let him be, let us see if Elijah will come to save him.

Jesus, novamente, bradando em alta voz, rendeu o Espírito.

Jesus, again, cried out in a loud voice and gave up the spirit.

E eis que o véu do templo se rasgou em dois, de alto abaixo.

And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

E tremeu a terra, e fenderam-se as rochas, e os sepulcros se abriram, e muitos corpos dos santos que dormiam foram ressuscitados.

And the earth shook, and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had slept were raised.

E saindo dos sepulcros, depois da sua ressurreição, entraram na cidade santa, e apareceram a muitos.

And coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

Ora, o centurião e os que com ele guardavam a Jesus, vendo o terremoto e as coisas que haviam sucedido, tiveram grande temor e disseram,

"Now, the centurion and those who were with him guarding Jesus, seeing the earthquake and the things that had happened, were greatly afraid and said,"

Verdadeiramente este era o Filho de Deus.

Truly, this was the Son of God.

E estavam ali muitas mulheres olhando de longe, que tinham seguido Jesus desde a Galiléia para o servir.

And there were many women there looking from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee to serve him.

Entre as quais estava Maria Madalena, Maria a mãe de Tiago e de João, de Tiago e de José, e a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu. Amém.

The events in which He surrenders the Spirit and then dies, followed by many occurrences that begin after the death of the Lord Jesus.

And throughout His passion, throughout His anguish, these events follow one another like a cascade.

And things happen like that.

Esta noite eu quero tratar com vocês sobre a extraordinária morte de Cristo.

Tonight I want to talk to you about the extraordinary death of Christ.

Geralmente a morte sempre é algo inesperado ou ainda que é esperado, nunca é extraordinário.

Generally, death is always something unexpected or, even if expected, it is never extraordinary.

É sempre algo triste que de certa forma acaba mexendo conosco, nos provocando muita tristeza, dor.

It is always something sad that in a way ends up affecting us, causing us a lot of sadness and pain.

Because these are the hardships of death.

They are the pains of death.

Mas hoje eu quero falar sobre algo extraordinário.

Que é a morte do Senhor.

What is the death of the Lord?

Há muitas pessoas que estão ali.

There are many people there.

Simplesmente para ver o nosso Senhor padecer e morrer.

Simply to see our Lord suffer and die.

Muitas pessoas que não acreditavam em Cristo.

Many people who did not believe in Christ.

Pessoas incrédulas.

Incredulous people.

Pessoas que ouviram o Senhor falar.

People who heard the Lord speak.

Pessoas que ouviram da sua própria boca o Evangelho.

People who heard the Gospel from your own mouth.

Mas estavam ali agora como quem estivesse dizendo para si mesmo.

But they were there now as if telling themselves.

Veja como eu tenho razão de não crer nesse homem.

See how I am right not to believe in this man.

Ele agora está sendo morto neste madeiro.

He is now being killed on this wood.

Daqui a poucos instantes não restará mais este homem.

In a few moments, this man will no longer remain.

Ele será completamente aniquilado da terra.

He will be completely annihilated from the earth.

Seria uma grande bobagem ter tomado o tempo da minha vida.

It would be a great folly to have taken the time of my life.

Para crer nesse homem impostor.

To believe in this impostor man.

Que dizia ser o Messias.

Who claimed to be the Messiah.

E cujos seus seguidores.

And whose followers.

Diziam que ele era o Messias.

They said he was the Messiah.

Ainda bem que eu não criei.

Good thing I didn't create it.

Ainda bem que não me sujeitei a ele.

I'm glad I didn't submit to him.

Que não dei ouvidos a sua palavra.

That I did not heed your word.

Assim também os soldados zombavam de Jesus.

In the same way, the soldiers mocked Jesus.

Ele é rei.

He is king.

Não é este o rei?

Isn't this the king?

E antes da sua crucificação.

And before his crucifixion.

Puseram na sua cabeça uma coroa com espinhos irmãos.

They placed a crown of thorns on your head, brothers.

Brothers, the passion of Jesus.

A aflição do nosso Senhor.

The affliction of our Lord.

Ela foi tão grande.

She was so great.

Que ele começou a padecer.

That he began to suffer.

Antes de ser pregado naquele maldito madeiro.

Before being nailed to that cursed wood.

Ele foi humilhado pelos guardas.

He was humiliated by the guards.

Diante de um ladrão.

In front of a thief.

Porque quando disseram.

All of this is humiliation.

Um homem justo sabe.

A just man knows.

Que está sendo injustamente afligido.

That is being unjustly afflicted.

Os seus amigos.

Your friends.

Seus discípulos mais chegados.

His closest disciples.

Seus apóstolos.

Your apostles.

As mulheres que seguiam Jesus.

The women who followed Jesus.

Todos ali viam.

Everyone there saw.

Que ele era inocente.

That he was innocent.

Sabiam que ele não tinha crime nenhum.

Did you know that he had no crime at all?

Nenhum crime.

Mas ainda assim o Senhor Jesus passava.

But still the Lord Jesus was passing by.

Por toda essa aflição e humilhação.

For all this affliction and humiliation.

Então Mateus narra no verso 45.

So Matthew recounts in verse 45.

Já está crucificado.

He is already crucified.

And from the sixth hour.

The darkness was weeping.

Mourning.

Injustiça.

The righteous son of God.

Estava sendo morto.

I was being killed.

Pelas mãos de pecadores.

By the hands of sinners.

É como se a natureza toda.

It's as if the whole nature.

Entrasse.

Entered.

Um colapso ali.

A collapse there.

Por causa da crucificação injusta.

Because of the unjust crucifixion.

Do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

E o Senhor Jesus.

Antes de morrer.

Before dying.

Brada ainda.

Shout still.

Com suas últimas forças.

With its last strength.

Ele diz ao Pai.

He says to the Father.

Deus.

Por que me abandonaste?

Why did you abandon me?

Agora o Senhor Jesus.

Now the Lord Jesus.

Estava naquele madeiro.

I was on that log.

Sem a presença do Pai.

Without the presence of the Father.

Mas carregando.

But carrying.

Todos os nossos pecados.

All our sins.

Todos os seus pecados.

Estavam sobre Ele.

They were over Him.

Estavam sobre Ele.

They were over Him.

E todos os seus eleitos.

They were upon Him.

Naquele madeiro.

At that hour.

É por isso irmãos.

That is why, brothers.

Que há uma sombra negra.

That there is a black shadow.

Treva sobre todo aquele lugar.

Darkness over that entire place.

Porque havia.

Because there was.

Pecado sobre.

Sin above.

Os ombros do nosso Salvador Jesus.

The shoulders of our Savior Jesus.

Ele estava pendurado.

He was hanging.

Like a lamb that was being sacrificed.

Em lugar do pecado.

In place of sin.

Para remir o pecador injusto.

To redeem the unjust sinner.

The lamb.

Estava ali.

It was there.

A oferta para Deus estava ali.

The offering to God was there.

Like at Easter.

Quando um cordeiro era morto.

When a lamb was killed.

Em lugar do pecador.

In place of the sinner.

Pagando o preço do pecador.

Paying the price of the sinner.

Ali estava Jesus Cristo.

There was Jesus Christ.

O som das palavras de Cristo.

The sound of the words of Christ.

They were thinking.

O profeta Elias.

The prophet Elijah.

We are told that the prophet Elijah does not die.

In a chariot of fire.

And rises directly to the heavens.

The guarantee of salvation.

I would like to bring two explanations for you.

Without a doubt.

That the tombs of many who were asleep in Christ.

The mountains breaking.

And many tombs were opened.

But then two explanations come.

The first.

It’s because the text says.

That many who were there.

They went out and walked through Jerusalem.

And they were seen by many.

They opened.

Os corpos não apenas ficaram expostos.

The bodies were not only left exposed.

But they resurrected.

Their bodies have been remade.

And they were seen by many.

That doesn't matter much.

Because the most important.

There is no doubt about it.

It is that those who slept in the Lord.

Ressuscitaram.

They resurrected.

Como Cristo ressuscitou dos mortos.

As Christ rose from the dead.

On Sunday.

No primeiro dia da semana.

On the first day of the week.

Não resta dúvida nenhuma.

There is no doubt about it.

Irmãos.

Brothers.

Que a morte de Cristo foi extraordinária.

That the death of Christ was extraordinary.

Porque ela vence a morte.

Because she conquers death.

Veja bem.

Take a look.

Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor.

He defeats.

O poder da morte.

He conquers death.

And He is alive.

Today forever.

And your death is the victory over death.

This should bring joy.

And comfort for you, dear brother.

You who find rest in Jesus.

I am sure that if you are young.

Maybe you don't mind.

A lot with these things now.

A long old age.

My grandfather died at the age of 96.

É uma longa vida.

It's a long life.

E muitos morrem.

And many die.

Em idade avançada.

In old age.

Talvez você pense exatamente isso.

Maybe you think exactly that.

Ah o que importa para mim.

Ah, what matters to me.

Eu tenho toda uma vida pela frente.

I have my whole life ahead of me.

Who told you that?

Só Deus sabe.

Only God knows.

O dia.

Da sua morte.

Of your death.

Of much sweetness and hope.

For these women.

Because when that woman cried.

Because you lose your little girl.

Your little daughter.
