Vou falar um pouquinho dessa coisa de cidadania, né?

Que é uma das formas de se exercer política dentro da sociedade.

Cidadania, como a gente deve ter visto na sala de aula,

Citizenship, as we should have seen in the classroom,

ela é uma criação conceitual grega,

depois os romanos assumiram lá para 2300 a.C.

Esse livre-arbítrio, essa ação individual,

não tem mais suporte da sociedade.

Isso quer dizer também que a sociedade não é mais democrática.

E aqui eu vou abrir um pequeno parênteses com relação ao livre-arbítrio.

Livre-arbítrio também não é falar o que quer a qualquer hora

quando pensa só porque você não gosta da pessoa.

Isso beira a ofensa e, às vezes, a xenofobia e ao racismo.

This borders on offense and, at times, xenophobia and racism.

Por quê?

Why?

No direito brasileiro, por exemplo,

que tem uma herança direta na forma romana e germânica de se organizar,

Porque essas duas estruturas ideológicas são extremamente hostis

O fascismo é um sistema que procura estabelecer um grupo hegemônico

Então, na Constituição Nacional, está lá que toda manifestação nazista ou fascista no país,

de alguma forma, ou que se apresente de alguma forma,

ela é passível de punição através do Código Penal Brasileiro.

She is subject to punishment under the Brazilian Penal Code.

Então, não dá para você sair na rua gritando Hei Hitler

So, you can't go out on the street shouting "Hey Hitler."

ou usando swastika

ou dizendo que certas etnias são melhores ou piores do que outras.

or saying that certain ethnicities are better or worse than others.

E por que se faz isso?

And why is that done?

Por conta do que aconteceu lá entre o final do século XIX

Because of what happened there at the end of the 19th century.

e a primeira metade do século XX, até 1950, pelo menos,

onde se criou uma ideia de que existia uma raça superior

Então, na nossa Constituição, o livre-arbítrio tem esse limite.

Você pode, sem falar, e tem o direito de expressar aquilo que você acha uma conduta correta.

You can, without speaking, and you have the right to express what you believe is correct behavior.

Mas você não tem o direito de impedir o outro de se expressar

But you do not have the right to prevent the other from expressing themselves.

porque você acha que ele é diferente e inferior de você.

Why do you think he is different and inferior to you?

Isso não é...

This is not...

compatível com o conceito de igualdade.

compatible with the concept of equality.

Então, a cidadania no Brasil, ela parte desse princípio de autonomia

So, citizenship in Brazil is based on this principle of autonomy.
