Oi Vi, meu nome é Leandra, eu fiz 23 esse mês, eu sou do interior de São Paulo, uma cidadezinha bem pequena chamada Vargem

e eu comecei a aprender inglês depois que eu terminei o ensino médio, né? O contato que eu tinha com o inglês antes

Quando alguém me pede alguma dica de inglês e a pessoa repete errado,

eu vou lá e faço até a pessoa repetir certo o jeito que fala a palavra.

I go there and even make the person repeat the way they say the word correctly.

Mas, assim, chegando nos Estados Unidos, você teve alguma dificuldade grande com o inglês?

e às vezes faltavam palavras, vocabulários, corriqueiros que eu ainda não conhecia,

but even if I were missing a word, I could explain myself in some other way,

eles conseguiam entender, e eles me ajudavam com a palavra que estava faltando.

Eu consegui até abrir a minha conta no banco sozinha, foi tudo bem, tranquilo.

Quando eu cheguei no aeroporto, a única pessoa que foi me buscar foi o host 10.

Mas eles me recepcionaram super bem.

Aí eu cheguei, era em Dallas, era 9 horas da manhã, se eu não me engano.

Meu avô chegou lá.

E aí era de manhã, né?

Meu host 10 adorava fazer café americano mesmo, quando ele tava de boa.

Eu não sei te explicar.

Tipo, parece a nossa batata talha, só que não é crocante.

Era congelado.

It was frozen.

E ele fritava e a gente comia tudo isso junto.

And he would fry it, and we would eat all of that together.

Aí eles me mostraram a casa, me mostraram os cachorros, o quarto.

Then they showed me the house, showed me the dogs, the room.

E aí eu fui arrumar minhas coisas, né?

So I went to organize my things, right?

Descansar um pouco, porque eu não tinha dormido nada e eu dormi.

Rest for a bit, because I hadn't slept at all and I fell asleep.

Quando eu acordei, eu conheci um menino que eu ia cuidar.

When I woke up, I met a boy I was going to take care of.

E a gente ficou brincando de tarde, porque ele tinha chegado da escola.

And we spent the afternoon playing because he had come back from school.

Aí as crianças sempre tinham uma neta de tarde.

Then the children always had a granddaughter in the afternoon.

Eu acompanhei mais ou menos a rotina.

I roughly followed the routine.

E na hora de jantar...

And at dinner time...

Eles pediram comida mexicana, que eles adoravam comer comida mexicana e eu nunca tinha comido.

They ordered Mexican food, which they loved to eat, and I had never eaten it before.

Aí tudo que eu falava assim, ah, eu nunca comi tal coisa.

Then everything I said like, oh, I've never eaten such a thing.

Eles iam lá e eles compraram pra mim.

They went there and they bought it for me.

Donuts.

Donuts.

Compraram donuts pra mim, porque falaram que era impossível eu ir pros Estados Unidos

They bought donuts for me because they said it was impossible for me to go to the United States.

e eu não comer um donut.

and I won't eat a donut.

Compraram comida mexicana de vários tipos, que eles sempre gostaram.

They bought various types of Mexican food that they always liked.

O churrasco americano também.

The American barbecue too.

Eles compraram pra eu provar.

They bought it for me to try.

Eu comi tanta coisa lá, diferente, que eu nem lembro direito.

I ate so many different things there that I don't even remember them clearly.

Então assim, inicialmente pareceu que as coisas estavam muito boas.

So initially, it seemed that things were very good.

Sim, estava tudo ótimo.

Yes, everything was great.

Eu ainda não entendi o que aconteceu pra gente ter o rematch e nesse rematch eu acabei

I still don't understand what happened for us to have the rematch, and in that rematch, I ended up.

voltando pro Brasil, porque eu fui pra uma agência bem pequena e não tinha família.

O meu host dad tem muito acesso às Peytonon.

My host dad has a lot of access to the Peytons.

Tem um trabalho em pasta, ele é kendocentro do peito.

Eu converso com estrangeiros, eles falam espanhol e tal, eles sempre foram muito receptivos com essa coisa da minha língua, do meu país, da minha cultura

I talk to foreigners, they speak Spanish and such, they have always been very receptive to this thing about my language, my country, my culture.

Já tinham tido a au pair brasileira, então eles conheciam mais ou menos coisas que brasileiros gostam

They had already had a Brazilian au pair, so they knew more or less what Brazilians like.

Então eles sempre foram muito legais comigo

So they have always been very nice to me.

A gente não deu um match mesmo de não atingir a expectativa deles no que eles queriam, no jeito de cuidar das crianças, mais ou menos assim

We really didn't match in not meeting their expectations in how they wanted to take care of the children, something like that.

E conta pra gente um pouquinho, Lê, como que foi esse processo de rematch, né?

And tell us a little, Lê, how was this rematch process, right?

Porque eu sei que foi algo muito difícil pra você, mas qual foi a sua percepção de tudo que aconteceu, como que funcionou e como que você está se sentindo atualmente?

Eu fiquei chocada, né? Porque uma semana antes a gente tinha tido a reunião e eles tinham falado que estava tudo bem

E aí ela foi na casa, fizemos uma reunião, colocamos os pontos que tinham que melhorar dos dois lados

And then she went to the house, we had a meeting, we addressed the points that needed improvement from both sides.

E depois de um mês ela ia voltar lá e fazer a mesma reunião

And after a month she was going to go back there and have the same meeting.

Nesse mês eu melhorei, comecei a falar mais, conversar mais com eles, não ficar tanto reclusa no meu tempo off

This month I improved, I started talking more, conversing more with them, not being so reclusive during my off time.

Porém não foi o suficiente

However, it was not enough.

E mesmo eles... Toda semana durante um mês a gente fazia um feedback

And even they... Every week for a month we would have feedback.

Falavam que estava melhor pra mim, que estava melhor pra eles

They said it was better for me, that it was better for them.

E eles estavam me elogiando, falando que estava tudo certo, que eles me amavam, que não sei o que, lá lá lá

And they were praising me, saying that everything was fine, that they loved me, that I don't know what, blah blah blah.

Aí deu um mês e aí eles foram conversar com a coordenadora de novo

Then a month passed, and they went to talk to the coordinator again.

E aí eles falaram pra mim do rematch, então foi uma surpresa muito grande

And then they told me about the rematch, so it was a big surprise.

Eu fiquei bem assustada

I was quite scared.

E aí começa todo um processo

And there begins an entire process.

Eu tinha que responder um questionário, mantei pra agência, fiquei online

I had to answer a questionnaire, I sent it to the agency, I stayed online.

Aí eu poderia fazer modificações no meu perfil

Then I could make changes to my profile.

Eles acabaram liberando fotos das crianças, eu coloquei

They ended up releasing photos of the kids, I posted them.

Fiz tudo certinho, porém não adiantou muito

I did everything right, but it didn't help much.

A agência disse que recomendou meu perfil pra várias famílias

The agency said that it recommended my profile to several families.

Porém só duas entraram no meu perfil

However, only two entered my profile.

Não sei se o fluxo estava muito ruim

I don't know if the flow was very bad.

Mas só entrava famílias que eu não tinha experiência com a idade das crianças deles

But only families came in that I didn't have experience with the age of their children.

Então foi bem estranha essa parte

So that part was quite strange.

E eu me senti muito decepcionada

And I felt very disappointed.

Porque eu esperei tanto por esse intercâmbio

Because I waited so long for this exchange.

A gente paga a agência porque é mais seguro

We pay the agency because it is safer.

E quando a gente chega lá e a gente precisa, a agência não ajuda a gente em nada

And when we get there and we need it, the agency doesn't help us at all.

Sinceramente falando, a gente não pode nem procurar a família no Facebook

Honestly speaking, we can't even look for the family on Facebook.

Porque eles ficam bravos e querem tirar o nosso perfil

Because they get angry and want to take our profile down.

Porém, se a gente não procurasse, a gente não consegue família

However, if we don't seek, we won't find a family.

Porque a agência é pequena

Because the agency is small.

E o suporte que eu esperava deles não foi dado

And the support I expected from them was not given.

Eles dão todo suporte pra agência

They provide all the support to the agency.

Tanto que até meus parents falaram

So much so that even my parents said.

Tudo que você precisar, a gente está te ajudando

Whatever you need, we are here to help you.

Porque a gente sabe que a agência não vai te dar o suporte necessário pra você continuar aqui

Because we know that the agency is not going to give you the necessary support for you to stay here.

E tudo que deu pra eles fazerem, eles fizeram

Conversaram com famílias, deram referências ótimas sobre mim

They spoke with families, gave great references about me.

Mas mesmo assim não deu certo

But even so, it didn't work out.

E aí acabou naquele problema que você acabou me ajudando

Pra eu conseguir minha passagem de volta

Depois de todo o estresse
