Eu sou socióloga.

I am a sociologist.

E aí já começa uma certa dificuldade para você fazer pesquisa.

And then it starts to become a certain difficulty for you to do research.

E durante a graduação, eu tinha que fazer um trabalho de antropologia, uma etnografia do bairro.

And during my undergraduate studies, I had to do a work on anthropology, an ethnography of the neighborhood.

E no Gilberto Velho.

E aí eu resolvi fazer...

So I decided to do...

Eu fiz uma pesquisa sobre Sepetiba e eu fui pesquisar.

I did a survey about Sepetiba and I went to research.

E eu tinha feito até história, tinha começado a fazer a graduação em história.

And I had even studied history, I had started to pursue a degree in history.

E tinha tido acesso ao livro do Alcebíades Francisco Rosa, o História de Sepetiba.

And I had accessed the book by Alcebíades Francisco Rosa, the History of Sepetiba.

Só que ele não tinha referência bibliográfica.

It's just that he didn't have a bibliography reference.

Era a única referência que eu tinha sobre Sepetiba especificamente.

It was the only reference I had about Sepetiba specifically.

Aí eu fui procurar o professor Simvaldo, né?

So I went to look for Professor Simvaldo, right?

Que também é um super referencial.

O professor Simvaldo me deu uma gama de arquivos.

Um monte de coisas para me auxiliar para eu poder fazer esse trabalho.

Aí eu resolvi pesquisar e divulgar isso.

So I decided to research and spread this.

E o Mansur, assim, ele é primordial porque a bibliografia sobre a região é ínfima.

And Mansur is essential because the bibliography on the region is minimal.

Quando você vai pesquisar sobre Sepetiba, a Zona Oeste em geral, especialmente Sepetiba,

When you research about Sepetiba, the West Zone in general, especially Sepetiba,

você não acha muita referência bibliográfica.

you don't find many bibliographic references.

Você acha muitas coisas antigas que se referem até Sepetiba como a praia de Santa Cruz, né?

You find many old things that refer to Sepetiba as Santa Cruz beach, right?

Ou uma outra parte da fazenda Santa Cruz.

Mas não sei.

But I don't know.

Mas eu acho que a Zona Oeste tem muita referência para Sepetiba especificamente.

Então, uma pessoa que não está habituada também a pesquisar no Arquivo Nacional

Aí eu tenho que falar que eu tenho os três livros, mas o que eu utilizei mais foi o que conta com Sepetiba, né?

Porque era o meu foco, era o que eu precisava.

E é o meu preferido.

E eles não conhecem a história daquele lugar.

And they don't know the history of that place.

E aí você percebe como é importante ter esses livros que você pode indicar para as pessoas, né?

And then you realize how important it is to have these books that you can recommend to people, right?

O livro lá do pessoal da CAMEMPA, o pessoal da CAMEMPA a gente pode indicar, a gente pode falar, olha, procurem.

The book from the CAMEMPA people, we can recommend them, we can say, look, seek them out.

Sabe, vocês têm informação, vocês agora têm acesso.

You know, you have information, you now have access.

Vocês podem mostrar para outras pessoas que o lugar que vocês vivem é sim um lugar que tem história, né?

You can show other people that the place you live is indeed a place with history, right?

Um lugar que tem todo um referencial para vocês contarem.

A place that has a whole reference for you to tell.

E além disso, vocês hoje estão fazendo história.

And besides that, you are making history today.

Vocês estão construindo a história desse lugar também.

You are also building the history of this place.

Então, cabe a vocês não permitir que essa história do passado, ela se perca,

e fazer uma coisa melhor, uma coisa que seja mais agradável a vocês para o futuro.
