Sou agricultora, professora, cordelista e, além de tudo, eu represento a minha ancestralidade.

Então, sou do território quilombola Águas do Velho Chico, Setão São Francisco, Orocó.

E é muito importante esse momento que a gente está aqui, porque a gente vai falar um pouquinho da nossa ancestralidade e conhecer um pouquinho de quem somos nós.

Pra falar como a gente veio parar aqui, eu não posso deixar de falar de onde a gente vem, né?

To talk about how we ended up here, I can't help but mention where we come from, right?

A gente é da periferia de Petrolina, é um grupo situado lá.

We are from the outskirts of Petrolina, it's a group located there.

E aí, em determinado momento da nossa história, é lá do lado.

No iníciozinho, quando a gente está fazendo 4, 5 anos de grupo, a gente começa a pensar essa pesquisa,

buscando também essa ancestralidade, buscando de onde nosso povo vem, de como a gente se forma ali.

also seeking this ancestry, seeking where our people come from, how we are formed there.

Até como eu falei no episódio anterior com o Alfredo, a gente vive na periferia, num processo de negação, de escamoteamento.

As I mentioned in the previous episode with Alfredo, we live on the outskirts, in a process of denial, of concealment.

E pra gente, enquanto grupo...

And for us, as a group...

A gente quer saber quem a gente é, de onde a gente vem, como é que todas as histórias, não só individualmente, também, né?

We want to know who we are, where we come from, how all the stories are, not just individually, right?

Nesse processo, individualmente, a gente também busca, mas também como coletivo, como povo, né?

In this process, individually, we also seek, but also as a collective, as a people, right?

E aí, a gente resolveu fazer essa pesquisa que mapeia ali manifestações culturais do sertão de São Francisco.

So, we decided to conduct this research that maps cultural manifestations of the São Francisco hinterland.

A gente fez esse recorte geográfico e veio seguindo o rio nesse percurso.

We made this geographical cut and followed the river along its course.

Até parar aqui, em Orocó, uma das cidades que a gente visitou, né?

Until we stopped here, in Orocó, one of the cities we visited, right?

Junto com as próprias manifestações culturais de Petrolina, Lagoa Grande, Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Orocó e Cabrovó.

E, senhorinha, como é que foi receber o pessoal aqui?

Eles chegaram aí com esse papo de que, ah, porque a gente quer conhecer essa manifestação cultural,

quer conhecer o modo de vida de vocês, o cotidiano. E como é que foi receber eles aqui?

I want to learn about your way of life, your daily routine. And how was it to have them here?

Olha, foi muito bom, porque a gente se encontrou...

Foi um encontro que a gente estava no Vitorino, em 2012, e a gente estava participando de um projeto,

Crianças com Todos os Seus Direitos.

E, no final, na culminância do projeto, tem as apresentações culturais, né?

E teve muita coisa legal.

E lá estavam eles, né?

E aí eles apresentaram, né?

And then they presented, right?

E foi um teatro, assim, que eles apresentaram muito bonito.

E eu fiquei assim, eu digo, nossa, esse teatro, bem que poderia ir para a nossa comunidade, né?

And I thought, wow, this theater could really come to our community, right?

Porque é um momento, assim, muito histórico, bem legal.

E aí, depois o Veranópolis perguntou se a gente tinha grupo de reisado, né?

So then Veranópolis asked if we had a group for the kings' festival, right?

Porque a gente estava apresentando com as criancinhas lá.

Because we were performing with the little kids there.

Eu sou professora também da cultura, com as crianças, do reisado.

I am also a teacher of culture, with the children, of the kings' festival.

Já tenho 10 anos no grupo de reisado.

I have been in the kings' group for 10 years.

E ali foi nossa primeira apresentação, porque o grupo foi criado em 2009.

And there was our first presentation, because the group was created in 2009.

E eu já tinha 3 anos e a gente não tinha ido para lugar nenhum ainda apresentar.

And I was already 3 years old and we hadn't gone anywhere to present yet.

E para a gente foi um momento histórico, né?

And for us, it was a historic moment, right?

E desse dia para cá, eu digo a você, a gente não se desgrudou mais, né?

And from that day on, I tell you, we haven't separated anymore, right?

Porque foi muito legal.

Foi uma energia, assim, eu acredito que a gente já tenha encontrado em outras gerações,

E desse dia para cá, a gente se tornou, assim, família.

Nossos ancestrais que já faziam antes da gente nascer, da gente crescer.

Our ancestors who were doing it before we were born, before we grew up.

Então, as mais velhas, né, foram falecendo, né?

So, the older ones, right, passed away, right?

As outras foram ficando cansadas.

The others started to get tired.

Então, o reisado antes, ele era 30 dias de danças.

So, the reisado used to be 30 days of dances.

Então, começava do dia 6 de dezembro até o dia 6 de janeiro.

So, it started from December 6th until January 6th.

Então, todas as noites eles dançavam.

So, every night they danced.

Dançavam nas casas das famílias.

They danced in the houses of the families.

Então, o reisado de Mata de São José, ele é uma dança cultural antiga.

So, the reisado of Mata de São José is an ancient cultural dance.

A família estava dormindo, aí sempre tinha um babatê na porta.

The family was sleeping, and there was always a babatê at the door.

Aí, levantava, aí tinha negociação, né?

So, I would get up, then there would be a negotiation, right?

O que é que você vai contribuir com a nossa dança?

Era alimento, era dinheiro, o que a pessoa tivesse na casa.

It was food, it was money, whatever the person had in the house.

Pronto, aí tinha uma pessoa para negociar, né?

E aí, depois tinha a apresentação.

E aí, durante o dia, as mulheres, os homens iam se descansar, né?

E a noite começava de novo.

Então, era 30 dias nessa jornada.

Daí pra cá, foi modificando, porque já foi dia 6, a gente foi ficando só o dia 6, né?

A gente foi apresentando só o dia 6.
