Ao entrar no local, Odisseu ficou encantado com as riquezas existentes em toda a construção.

Mas ao ver o rei e a rainha, se apressou para falar com eles.

But upon seeing the king and the queen, he hurried to speak with them.

E assim que se aproximou, Atena retirou toda a névoa do ambiente,

And as she approached, Athena removed all the fog from the surroundings,

possibilitando que todos os nobres presentes no local pudessem ver o estrangeiro.

allowing all the nobles present at the venue to see the foreigner.

Odisseu se jogou aos pés da rainha e implorou para que o rei o ajudasse a voltar para casa,

Odysseus threw himself at the queen's feet and begged her to ask the king to help him return home.

depois de tantos tormentos que havia passado nos últimos anos.

after so many torments he had gone through in recent years.

Ao dizer isso, o guerreiro de Ítaca foi sentar próximo à lareira, nas cinzas.

aconselhou Alcino a convidar o desconhecido a sentar-se em um trono honrado,

O pai de Telêmaco sentou-se então no trono do filho mais querido do rei.

E depois de todos serem servidos, Alcino disse a todos ali presentes que no dia seguinte,

todos os nobres fariam sacrifícios aos deuses e dariam boas-vindas aos estrangeiros.

E receberam, por acaso, a ajuda de Nausicaa.

And they received, by chance, the help of Nausicaa.

O rei advertiu a deusa da filha, e deixou os estrangeiros sozinhos até o palácio.

The king warned the goddess of the daughter and left the foreigners alone until the palace.

Mas o Odisseu logo a defendeu, dissertando palavras que fizeram Alcino se impressionar com sua sensatez.

But Odysseus soon defended her, articulating words that made Alcinous impressed with his wisdom.

E este ainda disse ao Odisseu que prepararia seus rápidos navios,

And he even told Odysseus that he would prepare his swift ships,

e cuidaria de tudo para que eles chegassem em casa o quanto antes em segurança.

and would take care of everything so that they would get home as soon as possible and safely.

No dia seguinte, todos os nobres se reuniram na praça,

The next day, all the nobles gathered in the square,

e Alcino anunciou que eles utilizariam os melhores navios e marinheiros para ajudarem o desconhecido a chegar em casa no dia seguinte.

And Alcino announced that they would use the best ships and sailors to help the unknown get home the next day.

Pois naquele momento eles iriam até o palácio recepcionar o Odisseu da melhor maneira.

For at that moment they were going to the palace to greet Odysseus in the best way.

Demódoco, divino cantor e cego, para contribuir na feitança,

Demodocus, divine singer and blind, to contribute to the feast,

começou a cantar diversas músicas sobre os Aquiles,

started to sing various songs about Achilles,

que arrancaram diversas lágrimas dos olhos do rei de Ítaca,

that pulled various tears from the eyes of the king of Ithaca,

que lembrava tristemente de sua jornada em Troia, lágrimas essas percebidas apenas por Alcino.

who sadly remembered his journey in Troy, tears that were noticed only by Alcino.

Após a cantoria, o rei convidou todos os presentes a realizarem as típicas competições dos feácios,

After the singing, the king invited everyone present to participate in the typical feácios competitions.

e mostraram ao Odisseu como eram bons nos esportes.

and they showed Odysseus how good they were at sports.

O segundo capítulo que nós vamos falar sobre é Odisseu Compete nos Jogos

The second chapter we are going to talk about is Odysseus Competes in the Games.

Não demorou muito e os jogos logo tiveram início.

It didn't take long for the games to begin.

Entre os competidores estavam os três filhos de Alcino, liderados por Laodamas, vencedor do Pugliato,

que aconselhou que os outros chamassem o Odisseu para competir,

Desde o momento, Athena se disfarçou de um dos monstros presentes e parabenizou Odisseu por sua conquista.

From that moment on, Athena disguised herself as one of the monsters present and congratulated Odysseus on his achievement.

Se sentindo honrado, o estrangeiro disse que poderia combater qualquer competidor ali presente,

Feeling honored, the foreigner said he could fight any competitor present there,

menos Laodamas, que havia sido compassivo com ele.

Além deste, poderia enfrentar todos, pois era imbatível em diversas modalidades,

Logo em seguida, convocou os dançarinos e Demódoco, os quais deveriam começar com as apresentações.

Soon after, he summoned the dancers and Demodocus, who were to begin the performances.

Os dançarinos então formaram uma roda e começaram a realizar seus movimentos mais ágeis e belos, que impressionaram Odisseu,

The dancers then formed a circle and began to perform their most agile and beautiful movements, which impressed Odysseus,

O vencedor das lutas se desculpou então com o desconhecido e ainda lhe deu uma espada de prata com um estudo de marfim, como forma de se redimir, desejando-lhe boa viagem.

The winner of the fights then apologized to the stranger and even gave him a silver sword with an ivory hilt as a way to make amends, wishing him a good journey.

Ao final da tarde, quando todos os nobres haviam trazido seus presentes para Odisseu, a família de Alcino e o rei de Ítaca voltaram ao palácio,

In the late afternoon, when all the nobles had brought their gifts to Odysseus, Alcino's family and the king of Ithaca returned to the palace,

e o rei pediu para que sua esposa trouxesse a mais bela arca, ou melhor, manto, e que organizasse todos os outros presentes junto com uma taça de ouro maciço,

And the king asked his wife to bring the most beautiful chest, or rather, cloak, and to arrange all the other gifts along with a solid gold cup.

para que o estrangeiro ficasse feliz ao vê-los, e lembrasse para sempre da terra dos Feaces.

so that the foreigner would be happy to see them and would always remember the land of the Phaeacians.

Terceiro capítulo é Odisseu conta sua história

The third chapter is Odysseus tells his story.

Arete trouxe o baú e pediu para que o próprio Odisseu colocasse os presentes na arca e amarrasse tudo muito bem,

Arete brought the chest and asked that Odysseus himself put the gifts in the box and tie everything up very well,

o qual ficou muito comovido com a atitude e seus olhos ficaram marejados.

who was非常touched by the attitude and his eyes became watery.

Por fim, a rainha ordenou que suas criadas ajudassem o homem a tomar banho.

Finally, the queen ordered her maids to help the man take a bath.

Depois, Odisseu se dirigiu ao grande terraço onde encontrou Nausicaa,

Later, Odysseus headed to the large terrace where he found Nausicaa.

a qual ele desejou uma boa viagem e pediu que ele sempre lembrasse da moça que o ajudou quando necessitava.

to which he wished him a good trip and asked him to always remember the girl who helped him when he was in need.

Todos ali presentes se esbanjavam com carnes e vinhos, e o estrangeiro, numa atitude gentil, ofereceu um pedaço de carne a Demódoco,

Everyone present was feasting on meats and wines, and the foreigner, in a kind gesture, offered a piece of meat to Demodocus.

dizendo o quanto ele conseguia sentir emoções reais em suas canções,

saying how much he could feel real emotions in his songs,

como se ele tivesse no momento que aconteceram os fatos que narrava.

as if he were at the moment the events he was narrating occurred.

Completou sua fala pedindo para que ele cantasse uma canção sobre o cavalo de Troia.

He completed his speech asking him to sing a song about the Trojan horse.

O cavalo de madeira, que é Peio, fabricou com a ajuda de Atena, e o próprio Odisseu introduziu no celebre Ilion,

The wooden horse, which is Peio, was made with the help of Athena, and Odysseus himself introduced it into the famous Ilium.

para enganar os troianos.

to deceive the Trojans.

Se fizesse isso, espelharia sua fama de ótimo músico por toda a Grécia.

Mas então Demódoco, que conforme cantava, fazia com que o rei de Ítaca se debulhasse em lágrimas,

But then Demodocus, who as he sang, made the king of Ithaca break down in tears,

as quais foram percebidas novamente por Alcino, que tomou a palavra e disse que parasse imediatamente com a música,

which were perceived again by Alcino, who took the floor and said to stop the music immediately,

pois ela trazia imenso sofrimento ao estrangeiro.

for she brought immense suffering to the foreigner.

O rei ainda questionou Odisseu sobre qual era o nome e sua pátria, pois ele fazia questão de levar o homem até lá,

The king still questioned Odysseus about what his name and homeland were, as he insisted on taking the man there.

mesmo que corresse o risco de Poseidon destruir seus navios e cercasse a Ilha dos Feáceos com grandes montanhas, como dizia seu pai.

even if he ran the risk of Poseidon destroying his ships and surrounded the Island of the Phaeacians with great mountains, as his father used to say.

Disse ainda para o estrangeiro dizer os locais que havia passado, os povos que conhecera,

He also told the foreigner to mention the places he had passed through, the people he had met,

e por fim porque chorava tão amargamente ao ouvir as músicas tocadas por Demódoco.

and finally why he cried so bitterly when he heard the songs played by Demodocus.

Odisseu então começou a contar sua história.

Odysseus then began to tell his story.

Introduziu dizendo que os tormentos que os deuses impuseram a ele foram imensuráveis,

He began by saying that the torments imposed on him by the gods were immeasurable,

e depois disse que era o filho de Laerte, Odisseu.

and then said he was the son of Laertes, Odysseus.

Relatou que sua pátria era Ítaca, terra da qual se orgulhava imensamente e adorava mais do que qualquer outra,

He reported that his homeland was Ithaca, a land of which he was immensely proud and loved more than any other.

por amar sua terra e também sua esposa que deixaram o local, ansiava por voltar o quanto antes a sua terra natal,

for loving his land and also his wife who left the place, he longed to return to his homeland as soon as possible,

pois apesar de Calypso e Circe terem tentado conquistar seu amor,

for although Calypso and Circe tried to win his love,

ninguém o fazia se sentir como sua esposa e sua pátria faziam.

No one made him feel like his wife and his homeland did.

O quarto e último capítulo que nós vamos falar sobre neste episódio é

The Encounter with the Cicones and the Lotophages

Logo em seguida, começou a contar como Zeus havia tornado seu retorno à terra natal um trajeto penoso e cheio de tormento.

Soon after, he began to recount how Zeus had turned his return to his homeland into a painful and tormenting journey.

Relatou que quando ele e seus companheiros partiram de Troia, o vento os empurrou para o país dos Cícones,

He reported that when he and his companions left Troy, the wind pushed them to the land of the Cicones,

seus inimigos que haviam lutado do lado dos troianos.

their enemies who had fought on the side of the Trojans.

Eles pegaram os Cícones de surpresa e conseguiram tomar vários espólios escravos,

They caught the Cícones by surprise and managed to take several slaves as spoils.

e dividiram tudo o que haviam conseguido de modo que ninguém pudesse se queixar.

and they divided everything they had achieved so that no one could complain.

Odisseu insistiu para que seus companheiros fossem embora, mas os tolos não ouviram

Odysseus insisted that his companions leave, but the fools did not listen.

e resolveram ficar na ilha batendo carneiros e bois e bebendo vinho, passando assim a noite na praia.

and they decided to stay on the island hitting sheep and oxen and drinking wine, thus spending the night on the beach.

Durante a manhã, os Cícones, que haviam chamado reforços, retornaram ao local com um grande número de oponentes

During the morning, the Cicones, who had called for reinforcements, returned to the location with a large number of opponents.

e travaram uma grande batalha com o rei de Ítaca e seus inimigos.

and waged a great battle with the king of Ithaca and his enemies.

Estes últimos foram derrotados no final, perdendo seis homens de cada navio.

The latter were defeated in the end, losing six men from each ship.

Quando saíram da ilha, Zeus enviou a eles um irrefreável vento norte e turvou todo o céu.

When they left the island, Zeus sent them an uncontrollable north wind and darkened the whole sky.

Com isso, os naus mergulharam à proa e o vento rasgou suas velas, obrigando os homens a remarem até terra firme,

With that, the ships plunged at the bow and the wind tore their sails, forcing the men to row to solid ground.

onde permaneceram por dois dias e duas noites.

where they stayed for two days and two nights.

No terceiro dia, partiram novamente, acreditando que chegariam à sua pátria.

On the third day, they set off again, believing that they would reach their homeland.

Porém, após lutar contra os ventos,

However, after fighting against the winds,

os contrários, durante nove dias, finalmente chegaram ao país dos Lotófagos, no décimo dia.

The opponents, after nine days, finally arrived in the land of the Lotophagi on the tenth day.

O rei de Ítaca conta que pediu para que três de seus marujos descobrissem que tipos de homens viviam por ali.

The king of Ithaca recounts that he asked three of his sailors to find out what kinds of men lived there.

Logo, encontraram os Lotófagos, que não pareciam maus, e deram a eles doces frutos, os lótus,

Soon, they found the Lotophagi, who did not seem bad, and they gave them sweet fruits, the lotuses.

os quais faziam com que quem ingerisse a fruta perdesse completamente a memória.

which caused anyone who consumed the fruit to completely lose their memory.

Depois de um tempo, esperando os homens, Odisseu e seus outros companheiros foram à sua busca,

After a while, waiting for the men, Odysseus and his other companions went in search of them,

e os encontraram junto aos Lotófagos, os quais também ofereceram ao homem o fruto.

and they found them near the Lotophagi, who also offered the man the fruit.

Porém, este, por uma iluminação divina, relacionou a perda da memória de seus amigos à ingestão do doce lótus,

However, he, through divine illumination, related the loss of memory of his friends to the consumption of the lotus sweet.

e por isso o recusou.

and that's why he refused it.

Depois disso, levou os esquecidos, os quais queriam permanecer na terra comendo os doces frutos, à força para o navio.

After that, he forcibly took the forgotten ones, who wanted to stay on the land enjoying the sweet fruits, to the ship.

Também chamou os seus companheiros restantes para embarcarem novamente,

He also called his remaining companions to board again,

antes que também ingerissem o lótus.
