I wonder if you believed that dreaming you were one of their friends, who had a happier life, was very sad.

That kept you away from your pain, the empty and hopeless life that seemed to surround you.

Era um equilíbrio perfeito.

It was a perfect balance.

Mas nunca deixou de ser errado.

But it was never right.

Eu amava o errado.

I loved the wrong person.

Assim como você.

Amávamos essa ilusão de controle.

We loved that illusion of control.

Eu imaginava que seria difícil me impor como alguém de personalidade própria.

I imagined it would be difficult for me to assert myself as someone with a distinct personality.

Mas foi uma bobagem, já que qualquer um que me reconheceria, poderia dizer que sou eu.

But it was silly, since anyone who would recognize me could say that it's me.

Então eu gostava de comprar todo tipo de tecido chamativo e com a ajuda da vovó, criava meu próprio estilo.

So I used to like to buy all kinds of flashy fabric and with Grandma's help, I created my own style.

Eu me perguntava às vezes como você ainda não tinha abandonado a escola.

I sometimes wondered how you hadn't dropped out of school yet.

Como suportava a ideia de que aquele não era o seu lugar.

How he coped with the idea that this was not his place.

Isso me fez pensar em como você era forte e eu fraco.

That made me think about how strong you were and I was weak.

Talvez houvesse espaço para compreender os dois, diminuir esse muro entre nós.

Maybe there was space to understand both, to reduce that wall between us.
