Cara, quando eu comecei a aprender inglês, pra começo de conversa, eu era um adolescente e isso me ajudou bastante porque eu não tinha nada pra fazer além de estudar na minha vida, né?

Dude, when I started learning English, to begin with, I was a teenager and that helped me a lot because I had nothing to do besides studying in my life, right?

Então não tinha nenhuma outra preocupação, como eu tenho hoje várias outras preocupações, várias outras responsabilidades.

E eu, obviamente, na época, fui matriculado numa escola tradicional junto com meu pai e isso é muito engraçado porque a gente começou junto e eu fui e ele ficou, entendeu?

And I, obviously, at the time, was enrolled in a traditional school along with my father, and that's very funny because we started together and I went on, and he stayed, you know?

Ele não voltou.

He didn't come back.

Ele parou.

He stopped.

Porque...

Because...

O sistema das escolas tradicionais realmente é bem complicado para os adultos porque o meu pai, como adulto, né, ele tinha um trabalho e tudo mais, ele chegava do trabalho e ele ia comigo pro curso.

The system of traditional schools is really quite complicated for adults because my father, as an adult, you know, he had a job and everything, he would come home from work and go with me to the class.

E aí a gente ia e tal, aí a gente começou numa sala, uma sala normal assim com outros adultos, inclusive, só que eles eram muito lentos pra mim.

So we went and such, then we started in a room, a normal room like that with other adults, but they were very slow for me.

Eu tinha, imagina, eu tinha 13 anos, eu já sou agitado agora, imagina eu com 13 anos, eu sou realmente agitado.

I was, imagine, I was 13 years old, I'm already lively now, imagine me at 13, I was really lively.

E aí, cara, tipo, uma página por dia, eu ficava, meu Deus do céu, eu nunca vou acabar esse negócio.

And then, man, like, one page a day, I was like, my God, I'm never going to finish this thing.

E aí a gente descobriu que tinha uma modalidade que era um, tipo, um VIP, entendeu?

And then we found out that there was a mode that was like a VIP, you know?

Que eu podia fazer o livro sozinho e aí o professor só vinha tirar minhas dúvidas.

That I could do the book by myself and then the teacher would just come to answer my questions.

E aí eu falei, não, cara, esse é o rolê, então eu vou fazer isso aí mesmo.

And then I said, no, dude, this is the deal, so I'm going to do that for sure.

E aí eu comecei fazendo isso, meu pai também, a gente mudou, né, pra essa nova modalidade que era, tipo, VIP, assim.

So then I started doing that, my dad too, we switched, right, to this new modality that was, like, VIP, you know.

E aí, beleza.

Hey, all good.

Então, tipo, aí ficou, sei lá, meu pai ficou, sei lá, mais uns 3, 4 meses, depois ele desistiu porque ele não conseguia por causa do tempo, né, o famoso.

So, like, then it ended up being, I don't know, my dad stayed, I don't know, for about 3 or 4 more months, then he gave up because he couldn't because of the weather, you know, the famous.

Questão de meses.

A matter of months.

Coisa de meses, cara, não foi nem, tipo, não foi muito tempo, não, não, foi coisa muito rápida, assim, ele ficou e eu fui.

Eu só tinha escola, tipo, eu não tinha nada pra me preocupar, nada pra fazer.

E aí eu comecei a ir pro curso, cara, tipo, todo dia, de segunda a sexta, eu só não ia sábado, eu ia todo dia pro curso.

So I started going to the course, man, like, every day, from Monday to Friday, I just didn't go on Saturday, I went every day to the course.

E eu não tinha aula todo dia, eu tinha aula, tipo, duas vezes na semana, ou uma vez só, duas horas, um negócio desse.

I didn't have class every day; I had class, like, two times a week, or just once, two hours, something like that.

Eu não lembro, tipo, exatamente qual era o meu horário, porque eu mudei algumas vezes.

I don't remember exactly what my schedule was, because I changed it a few times.

Mas eu ia todo dia pra fazer aula de conversação.

But I would go every day to have conversation class.

E aí, óbvio, né, tipo, o meu inglês foi lá pra cima.

And there, obviously, right, like, my English went way up.

Eu comecei a fazer os livros muito rápido.

I started to make the books very quickly.

Muito rápido, muito rápido.

Very fast, very fast.

Chegou um momento que eu tive que esperar, porque eu tinha feito o livro tão rápido,

There came a moment when I had to wait because I had made the book so quickly,

eu tinha terminado o livro tão rápido, que deu tempo, não deu tempo suficiente.

I had finished the book so quickly that there wasn't enough time.

Porque tem um mínimo, né, de tempo.

Because there is a minimum, right, of time.

Tudo na vida é assim, faculdade tem isso também, tem um mínimo de tempo pra tu concluir as coisas, né.

Everything in life is like that; college has this too, there’s a minimum amount of time for you to finish things, right?

E aí eu ultrapassei o tempo, entendeu?

And then I exceeded the time, you know?

Tipo, foi rápido demais.

Like, it was too quick.

Aí eu tive que esperar, fazer umas atividades extras aí pra eu poder concluir no tempo mínimo.

So I had to wait, do some extra activities so I could finish in minimum time.

Ou seja, naquela época, tempo não era o problema pra você.

In other words, back then, time wasn't a problem for you.

Não era o problema.

It wasn't the problem.

Cara, eu ficava o dia inteiro, eu ia todo dia e tal, entendeu?

Dude, I would be there all day, I went every day and stuff, you know?

Tipo, aí é que tá o ponto.

Like, that's the point.

Pra um sistema tradicional, tem que ser assim.

For a traditional system, it has to be like this.

É assim que você consegue fazer, entendeu?

That's how you manage to do it, understand?

E você como adolescente e tal, quando a gente não tem nada pra fazer,

And you, as a teenager and all, when we have nothing to do,

a gente tá focado numa coisa em específico, né, como eu tava no inglês,

we're focused on one specific thing, right, like I was with English,

fica muito mais fácil, porque eu não precisava organizar meu tempo,

it becomes much easier, because I didn't have to organize my time,

eu não precisava encaixar as coisas.

I didn't need to fit things in.

Eu tinha todo o tempo do mundo, basicamente, e meu único tempo que tava ocupado na época

I had all the time in the world, basically, and my only time that was occupied at the time.

era a escola, né, que era a parte da manhã, e depois foi a parte da tarde mais tranquila.

It was the school, right, which was in the morning, and then it was the calmer part in the afternoon.

Tipo, não era muita coisa, assim, absurda, eu saía da escola e ia direto pro curso, então,

Like, it wasn't really a lot, you know, absurd, I would leave school and go straight to the course, so,

pra mim foi de boa.

It was all good for me.

E aí eu fiquei um tempão, foram dois anos nisso, não, dois anos não, um ano e meio,

mais ou menos, depois eu me mudei, e aí quando eu me mudei, eu fui pro Rio de Janeiro, e aí,

Enfim, eu finalizei, né, com muito, depois da pressão toda que minha mãe colocou e

que eu mesmo coloquei na minha cabeça, eu finalizei o livro em um mês, o livro que

Aí eu finalizei ele em um mês e ainda fiz o TCC, em um mês e meio, mais ou menos.

Tipo, surreal, assim, o tempo muito...

Aí você vê, né, não tinha esse tempo antes?

Lógico que eu tinha, mas eu não tava focado, por isso que eu não quis acontecer.
