Deixo mulher e filho dormindo e pego o busão para o trabalho.

I leave my wife and child sleeping and take the bus to work.

Deixo na 7 de abril e vou em direção do metrô em Angabaú.

I leave on April 7th and head towards the subway in Angabaú.

Gente para todos os lados, a cidade está virando cena de filme apocalíptico, tipo Walking Dead.

People everywhere, the city is turning into a scene from an apocalyptic movie, like The Walking Dead.

A maioria das lojas fechadas, gente se drogando, gente dormindo no chão, e por aí vai.

Most of the stores are closed, people are doing drugs, people are sleeping on the ground, and so on.

Paro na praça e acendo um cigarro observando tudo ao meu redor.

I stop in the square and light a cigarette, observing everything around me.

Mulheres, marmanjos e adolescentes.

Women, grown-ups, and teenagers.

Todos de um lado para o outro da cidade.

Everyone from one side of the city to the other.

Passou ao meu lado um senhor de meia idade, estava de boa com o seu celular na mão, conversando com alguém no viva voz.

A middle-aged man passed by me, he was relaxed with his cellphone in hand, talking to someone on speakerphone.

Usava um Samsung J6, o celular era tão antiquado quanto ele.

He used a Samsung J6, the phone was as outdated as he was.

Logo em seguida passa um outro cara ao meu lado, ele deveria ter uns 30 e poucos anos, usava um agasalho preto e estava de bobeira com um iPhone 15 na mão.

Right after that, another guy passed by me; he looked to be in his early 30s, wearing a black tracksuit and fiddling with an iPhone 15 in his hand.

Esse sim.

Esse sim é um celular de responsa.

This is indeed a serious phone.

Me levanto do banco de cimento, passo ao lado dele e arranco o celular de suas mãos, no pinote, já estava imaginando o quanto eu iria lucrar.

I get up from the concrete bench, walk past him and snatch the phone from his hands, already imagining how much I was going to profit.

Mesmo antes de atravessar a rua eu ouço os estampidos.

Even before crossing the street, I hear the bangs.

Deitado no chão, observava as pessoas ao meu redor.

Lying on the ground, I watched the people around me.

Uns dizendo, perdeu mané, outros, se fudeu otário, seu vacilante.

E aos poucos as vozes foram se calando.

And little by little the voices fell silent.

Do outro lado da cidade, uma mãe e um filho choravam por mais um pai de família que tinha sido silenciado por um policial à paisana.

On the other side of the city, a mother and a son were crying for yet another family man who had been silenced by an undercover police officer.

Hoje em dia não sabemos mais quem é o mocinho, ou quem é o bandido.

Nowadays, we no longer know who the good guy is or who the villain is.

Na TV, o presidente da república diz que não aguenta mais ver um pobre coitado ser morto pela polícia, só por ter roubado um celularzinho.
