Да, так вот возвращаясь к «Фотодоку» и к «Антеграунду».

Уникальные, очень талантливые люди во время перестройки и после.

Unique, very talented people during the perestroika and after.

Они вышли уже, так сказать, на выставки международные

They have already, so to speak, entered international exhibitions.

и стали их везде выставлять.

and they started to display them everywhere.

И сейчас они в лучших.

And now they are in the best.

В коллекциях всяких домов фотографии, часто в коллекциях.

In the collections of various houses, photographs are often found in collections.

Они выходили и с некоторым риском фотографировали реальную жизнь.

They went out and took some risks to photograph real life.

При этом удивительно, что она так контрастировалась с тем,

It is amazing that it contrasted so much with what,

что делали официальные журнальные газетные фотографы,

what did official magazine and newspaper photographers do,

что слово «чернуха», которое появилось в конце,

that the word "chernukha," which appeared at the end,

собственно, 80-х, в начале перестройки,

actually, the 80s, at the beginning of perestroika,

их фотографии казались настолько невероятными,

their photos seemed so incredible,

потому что все привыкли к журналам, как это выглядит.

because everyone is used to how magazines look.

Выглядит Советский Союз не так, конечно, как Северная Корея, но тоже неплохо.

The Soviet Union doesn't look quite like North Korea, but it's not bad either.

И что удивительно, что люди, которые реальную вот эту вот безобразие,

And what's surprising is that the people who are really responsible for this mess,

нищету, бесправие, дефицит, черт знает что, да,

poverty, lack of rights, deficit, God knows what, yes,

видели своими глазами каждый день вокруг,

saw with their own eyes every day around,

они отказывались это воспринимать на картинке.

They refused to perceive it in the picture.

Потому что подробности их реальной жизни были второстепенные.

Because the details of their real life were secondary.

А подробности открыточной жизни, да, вот этого идеала,

And the details of postcard life, yes, that ideal,

к которому мы шли и, кажется, пришли,

to which we were going and, it seems, have arrived,

воспринимались ими всерьез.

were taken seriously by them.

у части советской публики вызывали просто отторжение.

It caused simple rejection among some of the Soviet public.

Они считали, что это какое-то целенаправленное очернение действительности.

They believed it was some kind of intentional slander of reality.

Саша, ну, ты ведь сам довольно много занимался

Sasha, well, you yourself have been quite busy.

то, что называется антропологическая съемка.

what is called anthropological filming.

Ну, например, к вопросу про чернуху.

Well, for example, regarding the question about the dark side.

Ты начинал мне рассказывать про свой последний проект

You started to tell me about your last project.

или один из последних фотодоки, который был потом показан

в Ельцин-центре «Смерти нет».

Он назывался «Урал Марии. Точка смерти нет».

Любая эта история, что касается «Смерти нет»,

ее надо было начинать с моих коллег,

потому что я не один делал, а я делал с коллегами,

because I wasn't doing it alone, I was doing it with colleagues,

совершенно фантастическими, и ничего бы не было,

то поскольку я много лет там в силу всяких обстоятельств

был привязан к дому и не мог надолго уезжать,

ну, по семейным всяким обстоятельствам,

well, due to various family circumstances,

то я, собственно, вот придумал фотодок.

So, I actually came up with a photo doc.

И слава богу, что эту идею поддержал Сахаровский центр,

And thank God that this idea was supported by the Sakharov Center,

который фактически приютил.

Сколько лет существовал фотодок?

How many years has PhotoDoc existed?

Он существовал почти 10 лет.

It existed for almost 10 years.

Ну, про фотодок я мог бы отдельно,

Well, I could talk about the photo documentation separately,

потому что там много чего действительно было всего.

because there was really a lot of everything there.

Важного и интересного.

Возвращаясь к фотодоку, значит, я начинал с выставок

Returning to the photo doc, I started with exhibitions.

всяких прекрасных, в том числе андеграундных,

all kinds of beautiful, including underground,

и не только, кстати говоря, фотографов.

And not just photographers, by the way.

Потом были, значит, всякие семинары, встречи с этими фотографами,

Then there were all sorts of seminars, meetings with these photographers,

которые рассказывали про себя, про то, что они делали.

who talked about themselves, about what they did.

Это был такой формат общения с публикой,

It was such a format of communication with the audience,

которая могла их спрашивать.

that could ask them.

Потом возникла история с конкурсом,

Then the story about the competition arose,

который назывался «Прямой взгляд».

which was called "Direct View."

Это был международный конкурс.

It was an international competition.

Пожалуй, что в России много лет это был единственный,

Perhaps, for many years in Russia, this was the only one,

не снабжаемый государством, хотя бы отчасти, деньгами конкурс.

a competition not funded by the state, at least in part, with money.

Может быть, что-то еще и было.

Maybe there was something else too.

Какие-то были, может быть, реагировали.

Maybe some responded.

Мне не хочется так говорить,

I don't want to talk like that.

но вот в столице нашей родины бывшей,

but here in the capital of our former homeland,

наверное, таких событий, не проводящихся,

probably events that are not held,

ни государственные деньги, так скажем, на грантовские деньги, и не было.

There were neither government funds, so to speak, nor grant money.

Я не мог никуда ездить.

I couldn't go anywhere.

Потом ситуация стала как-то в моей жизни улучшаться.

Then the situation in my life started to improve somehow.

И последние несколько лет я занимался уже не только тем,

And in the last few years, I have been engaged not only in that,

что организовал выставки, мастер-классы и проводил конкурс.

that organized exhibitions, master classes, and held a competition.

Я с командой своих соратников и единомышленников

I am with my team of associates and like-minded individuals.

занимались исследовательской, фольклорно-социологической,

engaged in research, folklore-sociological,

а визуально-антропологической.

and visually-anthropological.

В общем, такая история,

In general, that's the story.

что мы все-таки не ученые,

that we are still not scientists,

наше исследование было не сугубо научная работа.

Our research was not purely a scientific endeavor.

Она вся была предназначена для того, чтобы пришли зрители и посмотрели на это,

She was entirely meant for the audience to come and see it.

а не только несколько специалистов, интересующихся вопросом, которые бы это прочитали.

but not just a few specialists interested in the issue who would read it.

Одна из этих историй называлась «Уралмарий. Смерти нет».

One of these stories was called "Uralmari. There is no death."

Она была посвящена марийцам.

She was dedicated to the Mari people.

Марийцы и финно-угры.

Mari people and Finno-Ugric peoples.

Это действительно очень интересно,

потому что это оказалось совершенно непосредственно связано с нашим сегодняшним днем.

because it turned out to be directly related to our day today.

Если коротко,

в финно-угорской традиции контакты с умершими,

Однажды мы напороли совершенно случайно

That people have stopped going to the seven to feed the dead.

Стали ходить кормить ветеранов войны на 9 мая.

They started going to feed war veterans on May 9th.

И более того, значит, некоторые из этих самых наших собеседников

And moreover, it means that some of these very interlocutors of ours

говорили буквально, что во сне им снился

They said literally that in their dreams they saw.

какой-нибудь вот этот вот умерший уже ветеран войны,

some kind of this already deceased war veteran,

который просил их приходить к нему на 9 мая,

who asked them to come to him on May 9th,

а не, как всегда, на семик.

oh no, not as always, on seven.

Некоторые это воспринимали, что надо и на семик на 9 мая,

Some interpreted it as a need to go to the Seven K's on May 9th.

некоторые воспринимали, что на семик не надо,

some perceived that it wasn't necessary to go to the seven.

а надо на 9 мая.

It needs to be by May 9th.

И, значит, в разных...

And, so, in different...

В разных поселках уральских мы вдруг столкнулись с этой тенденцией,

In various settlements of the Urals, we suddenly encountered this trend,

и мы поняли, что нам необходимо абсолютно приехать на 9 мая

And we realized that we absolutely needed to arrive on May 9th.

в какую-нибудь далекое село и посмотреть,

to some distant village and see,

а что же там происходит.

What’s happening over there?

А там происходят совершенно невероятные вещи.

In there, completely unbelievable things are happening.

Ну, сейчас то, что я буду рассказывать,

Well, now what I am going to tell you,

не обязательно рассказывать, воспринимать всерьез,

it's not necessary to tell, to take it seriously,

можно в качестве анекдота,

it can be taken as a joke,

но это производит в любом случае впечатление.

But it leaves an impression in any case.

Мы вдруг обнаружили, что 9 мая,

We suddenly discovered that May 9,

ну, понятно, что в каждом уральском селе,

есть обелиск с именами погибших во время Второй мировой войны,

Около этого обелиска выстраиваются дети, как правило,

с портретами бессмертного полка.

with the portraits of the Immortal Regiment.

Официальная часть заканчивается,

после чего родители дедушки и бабушки разбирают этих детей

after which the grandparents' parents take care of these children

и они идут прямиком на кладбище с этими портретами

and they go straight to the cemetery with these portraits

кормить своих умерших ветеранов.

И вот эта вот история, когда вот этот бессмертный полк,

And here is this story, when this immortal regiment,

когда это миллионы людей в городе,

when there are millions of people in the city,

шагающих по улицам, не понимающих на самом деле,

walking the streets, not really understanding,

что они с точки зрения традиционного,

what they are from the perspective of the traditional,

вот этих вот представлений делают,

these ideas are being made,

они апеллируют к армии умерших,

they appeal to the army of the dead,

они просят о помощи в их нынешних делах живых.

They are asking for help in their current affairs of the living.

То есть я не думаю, что это кому-то специально пришло в голову.

So I don't think that anyone thought of this on purpose.

Это такое просто совпадение,

It's just a coincidence.

это какой-то сидящий у нас в подсознании архетипы,

These are some archetypes sitting in our subconscious.

от которых никуда не деться.

from which there is nowhere to escape.

И это работает, это работало,

And it works, it worked,

но мне, я не знаю, думаю, что никому не приходило

But for me, I don't know, I think it hasn't occurred to anyone.

в голову привести параллели.

Между вот этими взаимоотношениями с умершими,

я верю как раз в психологию глубинного народа

Speaking as if in someone else's voice, looking at the current stage of modern political history,

я имею в виду все, что случилось после 24 февраля 22 года.

I mean everything that happened after February 24, 2022.

Ну, с одной стороны, человек, знакомый с теорией психоанализа,

Well, on one hand, a person familiar with the theory of psychoanalysis,

который рассматривает войны, как элемент бесконечного повторения.

which considers wars as an element of infinite repetition.

То, с чем, к сожалению, ничего сделать нельзя.

That is something that, unfortunately, cannot be changed.

Каковы будут отложенные исторические последствия этого?

What will be the postponed historical consequences of this?

И как это на коллективной психике скажется?

And how will this affect the collective psyche?

Я имею в виду здесь коллективную психику обеих сторон конфликта.

I mean the collective psyche of both sides of the conflict here.

Я уже не говорю про все вовлеченные страны, про Европу.

I'm not even talking about all the involved countries, about Europe.

Как ты верно сказал, это война в центре Европы.

As you rightly said, it is a war in the heart of Europe.

Как это на детях скажется? Как это скажется на подростках?

How will this affect children? How will this affect teenagers?

И что с этой новой коллективной памятью?

And what about this new collective memory?

В общем, первое время будет плохо происходить, потому что зверь, который сидит в каждом,

In general, the first time will go badly because the beast that resides in each one,

он легко выпускается.

He is easily released.

Его очень трудно долго, цивилизационно загонять, обуздывать, связывать.

It is very difficult to confine, restrain, and bind him for a long time, civilization-wise.

Если уж к образом язычества, да, это такой Локи,

If we are talking about the images of paganism, then yes, this is such a Loki,

которого вот там вот если связали, но если его развязать,

which is tied up over there, but if you untie it,

он, значит, устраивает конец света и разносит всё.

So, he is causing the end of the world and ruining everything.

У меня довольно много чего сохранилось,

и от Солженицына, и Шаламова, и всякой поэзии и прочее.

Но вот книжку, к которой я много лет в своем подростковом возрасте

возвращался регулярно, конечно, был мастер Маргарит.

Потом, не потому что я его не знал,

они все-таки европейский ясный путь мысли двигали,

they nevertheless promoted a clear path of thought in a European way,

и там вопросов нет.

А с Гоголем много прекрасных вопросов,

And there are many wonderful questions with Gogol,

и я за это его обожаю,

and that's why I adore him,

и, в общем, периодически к нему возвращаюсь,
