Dice la palabra de Dios en primer libro de Reyes 19, versículo 5, hablando de Elías.

The word of God says in the first book of Kings 19, verse 5, speaking of Elijah.

Y echándose debajo del enebro se quedó dormido.

And lying down under the juniper, he fell asleep.

Y aquí luego un ángel le tocó y le dijo, levántate, come.

And then an angel touched him and said, arise, eat.

Entonces él miró aquí a su cabecera una torta cocida sobre las aguas, ascuas.

Then he looked here at his head a cake baked on the waters, embers.

Y una vasija de agua.

And a vessel of water.

Y comió, y bebió, y volvió a dormirse.

And he ate, and drank, and fell asleep again.

Mi amigo, ¿está usted abatida?

My friend, are you feeling down?

¿Abatido?

Downcast?

¿Deprimido?

Depressed?

¿Decepcionado?

Disappointed?

¿Desilusionado?

Disillusioned?

¿Melancólico?

Melancholic?

¿Lúgubre?

Dismal?

¿Abatida?

Downcast?

¿Desmoronada?

Crumbling?

A menudo nuestra fe se cansa.

Often our faith gets tired.

A menudo nuestra fe es languidez.

Often our faith is languor.

A menudo muchas veces llegamos a desalentarnos tanto

Often many times we become so discouraged.

que llegamos aún a ser tan tímidos que un pequeño obstáculo,

that we become so timid that a small obstacle,

que un pequeño problema o una pequeña dificultad

that a small problem or a small difficulty

nos deprime, nos asusta y nos alteramos.

It depresses us, scares us, and makes us anxious.

Y a veces estamos tentados a pasar por alto

And sometimes we are tempted to overlook.

o pasar por alrededor del problema

or go around the problem

para evitar enfrentarnos con ella.

to avoid confronting her.

Y a veces queremos y deseamos tomar el camino fácil

And sometimes we want and wish to take the easy way.

y ¿sabe lo que logramos?

And do you know what we achieved?

Deprimirnos.

To depress us.

Lo único que logramos es abatirnos,

The only thing we manage to do is feel down.

desmoronarnos o desmoralizarnos.

to crumble or to demoralize ourselves.

¿Está usted en esta situación, mi amigo?

Are you in this situation, my friend?

El profeta Elías, un gran hombre de Dios,

The prophet Elijah, a great man of God,

usado para un gran avivamiento,

used for a great revival,

cayó en este estado.

fell into this state.

Mi amigo, no es malo tener dificultades.

My friend, it's not bad to have difficulties.

No es que no vamos a tener problemas.

It's not that we won't have problems.

No es que no vamos a tener pruebas.

It's not that we are not going to have tests.

Sí las vamos a tener.

Yes, we are going to have them.

Pero esas cosas no están ni deben estar

But those things are neither are nor should be.

para que nos derriben.

so that they can bring us down.

No debemos permitir que nos dominen.

We must not allow them to dominate us.

No debemos permitir que las dificultades

We must not allow difficulties

sean un obstáculo o una excusa

be an obstacle or an excuse

para no hacer la voluntad de Dios.

to not do the will of God.

Elías se fue.

Elías left.

Se abandonó.

He/She gave up.

Tiró la toalla.

He threw in the towel.

¿Y sabe por qué?

And do you know why?

Por otro pequeño error que cometemos en la vida.

For another small mistake we make in life.

Que muchas veces

That many times

prestamos demasiada atención a todo.

We pay too much attention to everything.

A todo lo que nos dicen.

To everything they tell us.

Cuando estamos enojados,

When we are angry,

cuando estamos deprimidos,

when we are depressed,

cuando estamos desmoralizados

when we are demoralized

o con pruebas,

or with proof,

cuando hemos perdido algo,

when we have lost something,

cuando estamos por perder algo,

when we are about to lose something,

alguien en la vida,

someone in life,

¿no le pasa a usted que muchas veces

Doesn't it happen to you that many times

llueven los consejeros

the advisors are pouring in

o los enemigos se alegran de nosotros?

Or do the enemies rejoice over us?

La gente dice cosas que realmente no son.

People say things that are really not true.

Hay mucha gente que habla cosas que no sienten.

There are many people who say things they don't feel.

Ni lo dirían en momentos normales.

They wouldn't say it in normal times.

Dígame, dígame, es normal que este hombre de Dios diga

Tell me, tell me, is it normal for this man of God to say

quiero morir.

I want to die.

¿Cuántas veces?

How many times?

¿Cuántas veces usted ha deseado morir, mi amigo, mi amiga,

How many times have you wished to die, my friend?

por la decepción que ha sufrido?

for the disappointment he/she has suffered?

A menudo cuando nuestra fe landece,

Often when our faith weakens,

empezamos a hablar cosas que no tienen sentido,

we started talking about things that don't make sense,

palabras que no tienen propósito.

Words that have no purpose.

Deseamos cosas que no desearíamos

We desire things that we wouldn't wish for.

estando normalmente bien.

usually doing well.

Algunos desean morir,

Some wish to die,

otros insultan,

others insult,

otros blasfeman,

others blaspheme,

otros se irritan.

others get irritated.

En Ecclesiastes capítulo 7,

In Ecclesiastes chapter 7,

versículo 11,

verse 11,

versículo 21.

verse 21.

Hay una palabra que me llamó la atención

There is a word that caught my attention.

esta mañana mientras estaba estudiando este pasaje.

This morning while I was studying this passage.

Dice así, un consejo.

It says this, a piece of advice.

Ciertamente no hay hombre justo

Certainly, there is no righteous man.

en la tierra que haga el bien y nunca peque.

in the land that does good and never sins.

¿Escucha usted esto?

Do you hear this?

No hay hombre justo

There is no righteous man.

en la tierra que haga el bien y nunca peque.

in the land that does good and never sins.

Muchas veces haciendo el bien

Many times doing good

o intentando hacer el bien,

or trying to do good,

muchas veces no hay hombre justo.

Many times there is no righteous man.

Muchas veces hemos fallado.

Many times we have failed.

Una madre

A mother

que por hacer el bien a su esposo

for doing good to her husband

resulta que falla

it turns out that it fails

en su excesivo

in its excess

deseo de hacer el bien las cosas

desire to do good things

lo hace mal.

He does it wrong.

Un esposo en el excesivo deseo

A husband in excessive desire

de mostrarle amor a la esposa

to show love to the wife

muchas veces se vuelve cansador.

Many times it becomes tiresome.

Hay cosas que uno...

There are things that one...

Es que no somos perfectos.

It's that we're not perfect.

¿Sabía usted eso?

Did you know that?

¿Cuántas cosas hemos malogrado?

How many things have we ruined?

Pero no hemos tenido.

But we haven't had.

No hemos tenido mala intención.

We have not had bad intentions.

Sino que no hemos sabido hacerlo.

It's just that we haven't known how to do it.

Y sigue hablando este pasaje.

And this passage keeps speaking.

Dice, tampoco apliques tu corazón

It says, do not apply your heart either.

a todas las cosas que se hablan.

to all the things that are spoken.

Para que no oigas a tu siervo

So that you do not hear your servant.

cuando dice mal de ti.

when he/she speaks ill of you.

Porque tu corazón sabe

Because your heart knows

que tú también dijiste mal

that you also said it wrong

de otros muchas veces.

of others many times.

¿Sabe lo que significa esto?

Do you know what this means?

Que tenemos que aprender a escuchar.

That we have to learn to listen.

Tenemos que aprender

We have to learn.

a aplicar

to apply

las cosas en nuestros corazones.

the things in our hearts.

Y eso es lo que nos falta.

And that is what we are missing.

Muchas veces no sabemos

Many times we don't know.

aplicar las cosas.

apply things.

El profeta Elías

The prophet Elijah

oyó

heard

que una mujer llamada Jezabel

that a woman named Jezebel

le estaba pidiendo su cabeza.

I was asking for his head.

Enojada porque esta mujer

Angry because this woman

era una pagana.

she was a pagan.

Esta mujer era una idólatra.

This woman was an idolater.

Se había casado con un hombre.

She had married a man.

Se había casado con el rey Acap de Israel.

She had married King Ahab of Israel.

Y había infiltrado

And had infiltrated

en la religión judía

in the Jewish religion

una religión pagana

a pagan religion

de dioses cananeos.

of Canaanite gods.

Etcétera, etcétera.

Etcetera, etcetera.

Que no tiene nada que ver

It has nothing to do with it.

con el Dios vivo y real verdadero.

with the living and true God.

Adoradora de ídolos.

Idol worshiper.

Y esta mujer al enterarse

And this woman upon learning

que Elías fue un instrumento

that Elias was an instrument

de un despertamiento espiritual

of a spiritual awakening

donde los ojos del pueblo

where the eyes of the people

fueron abiertos para conocer

They were opened to be known.

y reconocer que Dios,

and acknowledge that God,

el creador de los cielos,

the creator of the heavens,

es digno de alabanza y adoración.

He is worthy of praise and worship.

Y en espíritu y en verdad

And in spirit and in truth.

hay que adorarle.

We must worship him.

La mujer esta se enojó

The woman got angry.

y amenazó a Elías de matarlo.

and threatened Elijah to kill him.

Pero Elías

But Elijah

huyó.

he fled.

Abandonó.

He/She abandoned.

Se fue al desierto deseando morirse.

He went into the desert wishing to die.

¿Sabe por qué?

Do you know why?

Porque él estaba cansado.

Because he was tired.

Estaba deprimido.

I was depressed.

Desmoralizado.

Demoralized.

Enojado.

Angry.

Y cuando estamos molestos,

And when we are upset,

cuando estamos enojados

when we are angry

o con pruebas

or with evidence

nuestros oídos oyen mal.

Our ears hear poorly.

Nuestros oídos

Our ears

oyen pesadamente mal.

They listen heavily poorly.

Oímos cualquier cosa

We heard anything.

y la gente dice cosas

and people say things

que realmente no sienten

that they really don't feel

y dirían en ocasiones normales.

and they would say in normal occasions.

Por eso aprendamos

That's why let's learn.

a no escuchar

to not listen

ni aplicar nuestro corazón

nor apply our heart

a palabras que no tienen sentido.

to words that make no sense.

Hay un dicho común aquí.

There is a common saying here.

A palabras necias.

To foolish words.

Oídos sordos.

Deaf ears.

Porque si usted empieza a escuchar

Because if you start to listen

en su estado de abatimiento

in his state of dejection

en su estado de decaimiento

in its state of decay

en que está este momento

What is this moment about?

si usted empieza a escuchar pálidas

if you start to hear pale lights

cualquier palabra le puede ofender

Any word can offend him/her.

mejor escuche lo que le digo.

You better listen to what I'm telling you.

Palabras de vida.

Words of life.

Jesucristo es tu esperanza.

Jesus Christ is your hope.

Jesucristo es tu alternativa.

Jesus Christ is your alternative.

Jesucristo es el Señor

Jesus Christ is the Lord.

el camino, la verdad y la vida.

the way, the truth, and the life.

Jesucristo es tu luz y tu salvación.

Jesus Christ is your light and your salvation.

Jesucristo es tu esperanza

Jesus Christ is your hope.

mi amigo.

my friend.

Esas son palabras

Those are words.

que vale la pena escuchar

that is worth listening to

cuando estamos abatidos

when we are down

cuando estamos cansados

when we are tired

Él nos dice

He tells us.

no temas ni desmayes tu corazón

do not fear or let your heart faint

nunca te dejaré

I will never leave you.

nunca te desampararé.

I will never abandon you.

Cuando estamos en los momentos

When we are in moments

en dificultades de algún ser querido

in difficulties of a loved one

por perderlo, por enfermedades

for losing it, for illnesses

aunque ande en valle de sombra de muerte

even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

no temeré mal alguno

I will fear no evil.

porque tu vara y tu callado

for your rod and your staff

me infundirán aliento.

They will inspire me.

Cuando estamos en necesidad económica

When we are in financial need.

cuando la mesa

when the table

no hay para comer

there is nothing to eat

tenemos que escuchar palabras como esta

we have to listen to words like this

Tu Señor aderezas mi mesa

You, Lord, prepare a table for me.

delante y en presencia

in front of and in the presence

de mis angustiadores

of my distressers

unges mi cabeza con aceite

You anoint my head with oil.

mi copa está rebosando.

my cup is overflowing.

Cuando me han dejado mi padre y mi madre

When my father and mother have left me.

hay esos momentos

there are those moments

que mejor palabra de escuchar

What better word to hear?

aunque mi padre y mi madre me dejaran

even if my father and mother left me

con todo el Señor me recogerá.

With everything, the Lord will gather me.

Estas palabras si valen la pena escuchar

These words are worth listening to.

mi amigo. Estas si son palabras de vida

my friend. These are indeed words of life

Oh cantadme

Oh sing to me

las otra vez bellas palabras de vida

the other beautiful words of life

cuando nuestros pecados

when our sins

cuando lo que hemos hecho

when what we have done

nos asusta

it scares us

cuando nuestra conciencia

when our conscience

nos remuerde día y noche por el mal que hicimos

It gnaws at us day and night for the wrong we did.

escuche esta palabra

listen to this word

no de condenación ni de culpa

not of condemnation or guilt

escuche esta palabra que te dice

listen to this word that tells you

que si confesamos nuestros pecados

that if we confess our sins

Él es fiel y justo para perdonarnos

He is faithful and just to forgive us.

y limpiarnos de toda maldad

and cleanse us from all wickedness

si escondes tu pecado te irá mal

if you hide your sin, it will go badly for you

pero si lo confiesas y te apartas

but if you confess it and distance yourself

hallarás la misericordia

you will find mercy

de Dios. Ven a Cristo en este momento

of God. Come to Christ at this moment.

hable tu corazón a Él

let your heart speak to Him

acéptale como salvador

accept him as savior

acéptale como tu Dios eterno

Accept Him as your eternal God.

tu roca inconmovible que es Cristo Jesús

your unwavering rock which is Christ Jesus

dile Señor te entrego mi vida

tell Him Lord, I give you my life

que oyen sus oídos

what do your ears hear

que escuchan sus oídos

what their ears hear

que oyen sus oídos mi amigo

What do your ears hear, my friend?

porque no escuchar

why not listen

la palabra de Dios

the word of God

el que tiene al Hijo tiene la vida

Whoever has the Son has life.

y aplique esta palabra a su corazón

and apply this word to your heart

y créala

and create it

porque le va a dar la vida a Dios

because God is going to give life to him

el Evangelio es poder de Dios para salvación

the Gospel is the power of God for salvation

a todo aquel que cree

to all who believe

dile Jesús te entrego mi vida

Tell Him, Jesus, I surrender my life to You.

y a partir de hoy te pido que abras mis oídos

And from today I ask you to open my ears.

para oírte a ti

to hear you

y escuchar tu palabra

and hear your word

te recibo y te acepto como salvador

I receive and accept you as my savior.

y Señor de mi vida

and Lord of my life

y quita y libra mi corazón

and remove and free my heart

libera mi corazón abatido

liberate my heavy heart

desmoronado y deprimido

crumbled and depressed

y dame tu paz y tu gozo

and give me your peace and your joy

desde ahora y para siempre. Amén
