When an apostolic believer is asked what the true gospel is, the immediate response is usually Acts 2:38.

Ahora, este evangelio tiene tres diferentes fases.

Now, this gospel has three different phases.

Number one, Jesus Christ died for our sins.

Romanos capítulo tres y el verso veintitrés nos dice,

Romans chapter three and verse twenty-three tells us,

por cuanto todos pecaron y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios,

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

es decir, destituidos de la presencia de Dios por toda la eternidad.

that is to say, deprived of the presence of God for all eternity.

Romanos capítulo seis, el verso veintitrés nos indica,

We are not allowed to enter the presence of God.

Y la paga de nuestro pecado es la muerte.

And the wages of our sin is death.

Entonces Jesucristo vino para morir por nosotros, para librarnos de esa muerte, precisamente.

So Jesus Christ came to die for us, to free us from that death, precisely.

Pero Jesucristo no se quedó ahí, fue sepultado.

But Jesus Christ did not stay there; he was buried.

Y tres días después, Él resucitó de entre los muertos,

And three days later, He rose from the dead,

in that way overcoming,

Verso 14,

Anulando el acta de los decretos que había contra nosotros,

Setting aside the decree records that were against us,

Y despojando a los principados y a las potestades,

He publicly exhibited them, triumphing over them on the cross.

Entonces note que había un acta de decretos,

So I noted that there was a record of decrees,

en contra de nosotros,

against us,

que nos clasificaba como pecadores indignos de estar en la presencia de Dios,

that classified us as sinners unworthy of being in the presence of God,

y Jesucristo la quitó de en medio y la clavó en la cruz del Calvario.

And Jesus Christ took it away and nailed it to the cross of Calvary.

De esa manera venció al enemigo, dice,

La muerte, sepultura y resurrección de Jesucristo

We place an overwhelming emphasis on the blessings they are going to receive.

y cómo Dios va a ayudarles con su matrimonio

and how is God going to help them with their marriage

and how God is going to help them get a good job

o en su situación financiera.

or in their financial situation.

Y eso no está mal en sí mismo.

And that is not bad in itself.

Pero la realidad es que la gente necesita saber que necesitan un salvador.

But the reality is that people need to know that they need a savior.

Alguien dijo, no puedes salvar a nadie hasta que no los hayas perdido primero.

Someone said, you can't save anyone until you've lost them first.

Es decir, hasta que la persona no se dé cuenta

Si alguien encontrara una cura para el sida o para el cáncer,

una cura que no fallara y que no tuviera ningún tipo de efectos secundarios,

a cure that would not fail and would have no side effects,

esto no sería salvación.

this would not be salvation.

Esto sería suficiente para que toda persona que está sufriendo con sida o cáncer

This would be enough for anyone who is suffering from AIDS or cancer.

sea inmediatamente sanada.

may it be healed immediately.

Póngase el ejemplo del cáncer.

Take the example of cancer.

Ya tienen la medicina en las farmacias.

The medicine is already available in the pharmacies.

Todo lo que tengo que hacer es ir a una de ellas

All I have to do is go to one of them.

y comprar esa medicina y aplicarla a mi cuerpo.

and buy that medicine and apply it to my body.

Si es que no lo hago, de nada me sirve que la medicina esté ya disponible.

If I don't do it, it doesn't matter that the medicine is already available.

I am going to die of cancer.

Es igual con el Evangelio del Señor Jesucristo.

It is the same with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Muchas personas piensan, bueno, Él ya murió y ya pagó el precio por mis pecados.

Many people think, well, He has already died and has already paid the price for my sins.

Ya no necesito hacer nada, soy salvo.

I don't need to do anything anymore, I am saved.

La cura está disponible,

The cure is available,

pero la aplicación de ese Evangelio a la vida de cada persona

es lo más necesario que necesitamos nosotros hacer.

It is the most necessary thing that we need to do.

¿Cómo aplicamos este Evangelio a nuestras vidas?

How do we apply this Gospel to our lives?

Ahí es donde llega la referencia de Hechos capítulo 2 y el verso 38.

That is where the reference from Acts chapter 2, verse 38 comes in.

Conocemos bien esta Escritura.

We know this Scripture well.

El día de Pentecostés, el día de la fundación de la iglesia cristiana,

The day of Pentecost, the day of the founding of the Christian church,

donde estaban todos los discípulos reunidos en el aposento alto

where all the disciples were gathered in the upper room

y el Espíritu Santo desciende sobre ellos.

And the Holy Spirit descends upon them.

Hablan todos en lengua según el Espíritu les da para que hablen.

They all speak in tongues as the Spirit gives them utterance.

El apóstol Pedro predica un mensaje a los judíos que se habían reunido.

The apostle Peter preaches a message to the Jews who had gathered.

Les habla acerca de cómo el Mesías había sido rechazado y crucificado.

He talks to them about how the Messiah had been rejected and crucified.

En el verso 37, al oír esto, dice la Biblia,

In verse 37, upon hearing this, the Bible says,

se compungieron de corazón y dijeron a Pedro y a los otros apóstoles,

they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles,

varones hermanos, ¿qué haremos?

Brothers, what shall we do?

Pedro les dijo, arrepentíos y bautícese cada uno de vosotros en el nombre de Jesucristo

Peter said to them, repent and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

para perdón de los pecados y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo.

for the forgiveness of sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Ese es el verso 38.

That is verse 38.

Entonces note lo que Pedro les dice.

So notice what Peter tells them.

¿Qué tienen que hacer para ser salvos?

What do they have to do to be saved?

Acaba de predicarles el Evangelio,

He has just preached the Gospel to them,

la muerte, sepultura y resurrección del Señor Jesucristo.

the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ahora que ellos son compungidos por ese Evangelio,

Now that they are saddened by that Gospel,

él les da la manera de aplicar el Evangelio a sus vidas.

He gives them the way to apply the Gospel to their lives.

Y note que hay tres pasos que debe seguirse.

And I noted that there are three steps that must be followed.

Número uno, arrepentimiento.

Number one, regret.

Número dos, bautismo en agua en el nombre de Jesús

Number two, baptism in water in the name of Jesus.

para perdón de los pecados.

for the forgiveness of sins.

Y número tres, recibir el don del Espíritu Santo.

And number three, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Note, Jesucristo murió.

Note, Jesus Christ died.

Nosotros nos arrepentimos.

We regret.

El arrepentimiento no es más que una muerte al mundo.

Regret is nothing more than a death to the world.

Decimos, ya no quiero los placeres del mundo,

We say, I no longer want the pleasures of the world,

ya no quiero el pecado del mundo.

I no longer want the sin of the world.

Renuncio a todo aquello que había hecho antes de conocer a Dios.

I renounce everything I had done before knowing God.

En cuanto al pecado concierne,

As far as sin is concerned,

estoy muerto.

I am dead.

Para todos.

For everyone.

Todo pecado.

All sin.

Jesucristo murió, nosotros nos arrepentimos.

Jesus Christ died, we repent.

Él fue sepultado, nosotros somos sepultados juntamente con Él en el bautismo.

He was buried, we are buried together with Him in baptism.

Esto está en Romanos capítulo 6, versos 3 al 5.

This is in Romans chapter 6, verses 3 to 5.

Entonces, ya que hemos muerto a nuestro pecado en arrepentimiento,

So, since we have died to our sin in repentance,

tenemos que ser sepultados.

we have to be buried.

En esta sepultura nos identificamos con el Señor Jesucristo en Su sepultura.

In this grave, we identify ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ in His burial.

Y obviamente, esta sepultura tiene que ser una completa inmersión en agua.

And obviously, this burial has to be a complete immersion in water.

Nadie nunca ha sido bautizado o sepultado simplemente con un poco de tierra sobre la frente.

No one has ever been baptized or buried just with a little dirt on their forehead.

No, excavan un hoyo y ponen a la persona muy adentro y luego la cubren completamente con tierra.

No, they dig a hole and place the person deep inside and then cover them completely with dirt.

En su sepultura espiritual, usted debe ser cubierto completamente con agua.

In your spiritual burial, you must be completely covered with water.

Esta agua se convierte en un símbolo de la sangre que Jesucristo derramó en la cruz del Calvario.

This water becomes a symbol of the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross of Calvary.

Water is not magic, but it is a symbol of that precious blood.

When the preacher or pastor says, I baptize you in the name of Jesus,
