Y también hay muchos humildes que, aun cuando se sientan en los primeros puestos, están convencidos en sus conciencias de que deben ocupar los últimos puestos.

There are many who, being proud, place themselves in the last positions and, out of the pride of their hearts, believe that they are sitting at the head of others. ¿No ves cuán grande es el pecado de hipocresía? Pues ésta es fruto de la envidia, porque la envidia es la que principalmente produce en los hombres la doblez, puesto que, sintiendo odio en su interior, manifiestan cierto odio.

Do you not see how great is the sin of hypocrisy? For it is a result of envy, because envy is what mainly produces duplicity in men, since, feeling hatred within, they manifest a certain hatred.
