Y si las razas no existen, ¿por qué somos racistas?

And if races do not exist, why are we racist?

Vamos a ver lo que nos tiene que decir Olivia Gall,

Tenemos que seguir gritando a los cuatro vientos, todo el tiempo.

We have to keep shouting to the four winds, all the time.

Las razas, ojo, no existen.

Races, mind you, do not exist.

Está absolutamente demostrado que no existen las razas, pero el racismo sí.

It is absolutely proven that races do not exist, but racism does.

Y eso es el tema que tenemos que estar atacando

And that is the issue we need to be addressing.

para poder tumbar y quebrar esas razas.

to be able to knock down and break those races.

Y ese racismo toma rostros nuevos todo el tiempo.

And that racism takes on new faces all the time.

Se nos dice hoy que hemos llegado a una era postracial,

We are told today that we have entered a post-racial era,

pero detrás de eso, en realidad, navegan las siniestras sombras del racismo cotidiano.

But behind that, in reality, the sinister shadows of everyday racism lurk.

Y son muy siniestras y toman nuevas caras.

And they are very sinister and take on new faces.

Y así, las barreras racistas, que no son racionales,

And so, the racist barriers, which are not rational,

se siguen levantando entre nosotros y no parecen estar cerca de derrumbarse.

They continue to rise among us and do not seem close to collapsing.

No debemos escuchar las voces de quienes nos dicen que el racismo ya no existe.

We should not listen to the voices of those who tell us that racism no longer exists.

Y tenemos que hacer ese grito, las razas no existen, el racismo sí,

And we have to make that shout, races do not exist, racism does.

todo el tiempo, para lograr ir quebrando esas barreras de la sinrazón racista.

all the time, to gradually break down those barriers of racist irrationality.

Lo que está claro es que lo que existe es el racismo.

What is clear is that what exists is racism.

Y, digamos, aquí el problema es el racismo.

Y el problema es que la idea de raza se deriva del ser racistas y no al revés.

And the problem is that the idea of race is derived from being racist and not the other way around.

Porque el racismo está aquí, está estructurado en nuestra sociedad,

tiene posiciones institucionales que no han cambiado.

It has institutional positions that have not changed.

Y por mucho que insistamos que las razas no existen, el racismo sigue ahí.

And no matter how much we insist that races do not exist, racism is still there.

Y me parece que hay que unirnos a esta propuesta que hace Olivia Gall,

de que tenemos que seguir combatiendo el racismo,

that we must continue fighting against racism,

cuando ya aceptemos que las razas no existen.
