Tabii şimdi emekli oldum ama artık ben kendime bir eğitim aktivisti diyorum.

Of course, I am retired now, but I now call myself an education activist.

Çok uzun yıllar eğitimin içinde kalınca aslında aktivistliğim de nereden geliyor?

After staying in education for many long years, where does my activism actually come from?

Bu son beş yıldır iklim kriziyle çok ilgilenmeye başladım.

I have become very interested in the climate crisis in the last five years.

Emekli olunca bütün hayalim iklim krizine karşı ne yapabiliriz?

When I retire, my whole dream is what we can do against the climate crisis.

İklim adaleti nasıl anlatabilirim diye.

How can I explain climate justice?

Tam emekli oldum. Yazın mula daydım. O sırada yangınlar olmuştu.

I have fully retired. I was in Mula during the summer. There were fires at that time.

Ve ben hemen iklim kriziyle ilgilenmeye başladım.

And I immediately started to deal with the climate crisis.

Ve köyleri gezip annelere ve çocuklara iklim krizinin ne olduğunu anlatıyordum.

And I was visiting the villages to explain to mothers and children what the climate crisis is.

I am continuing. Now it's called HelpZone.

Açılımı ise herkes için eşitlik ve liderlik platformu olan bir derneğin de başkanlığını yapıyorum.

I am also the president of an association that is a platform for equality and leadership for everyone.

Burada amacımız bu dernekle birlikte çocuklarda bir farkındalık yaratmak.

Our goal here is to create awareness among children in collaboration with this association.

Çünkü biliyorum ki okula bir ders koyduğunuzda o farkındalık olmuyor.

Because I know that when you place a lesson in school, that awareness doesn't happen.

Hayatın ta kendisi olursa öğreniliyor. İçinde yaşanırsa anlaşılıyor.

If life itself is experienced, it is learned. If it is lived, it is understood.

O yüzden çocuklarla birlikte iklim kahramanları yetiştiriyoruz ki

That’s why we are raising climate heroes together with children.

this is the world we have destroyed as adults.

I want to leave them in a more proper and aware manner at least before I go.

At that time, I had received this kind of office environment information for the first time.

Ve dedim ki hep bahsederiz biz eğitimle birlikte çalışmayı çok severiz.

And I said that we always talk about how much we love working together with education.

Bizim YGA'nın da Gençlik İdareler Akademisi'nin de bir mottosu vardır.

Both YGA and the Youth Management Academy have a motto.

Achieving together.

Ve gördüm ki burada böyle bir ortam sunarak herkesin beraber birlikte olabileceği

And I saw that by providing such an environment here, everyone can come together.

ister küçük odalar ister büyük alanlar olsun o birlikte fikrini çok önemsiyorum.

Whether it's small rooms or large spaces, I highly value their opinion together.

This century is actually the generation represented by letters, of which the Z generation currently has the highest awareness.

Onlar için birlikte çalışmak çok önemli.

It is very important for them to work together.

Bir gün kendi oğluma oğlu odanda yalnız başına ne yapıyorsun.

One day I will ask my son, what are you doing alone in your room?

Hadi gel artık seni bekliyoruz dediğimde anneciğim ben yalnız değilim ki şu anda 39 kişiyle birlikte sohbet ediyoruz.

Come on, we're waiting for you, I said, but my dear mother, I'm not alone right now; I'm chatting with 39 people.

O zaman anladım ki aslında dijital dünyanın çok da yalnızlık değil tam aksine başka bir birliktelik sanıyorum.

At that moment, I realized that in fact, the digital world is not loneliness at all, but rather a different kind of togetherness.

Ve biz yetişkinlerin özellikle de eğitimcilerin bunun çok farkında olması lazım. İyi anlamamız gerekiyor.

And we adults, especially educators, need to be very aware of this. We need to understand it well.

İşte bu tip ortamların bu kuşağın sosyal medya ya da dijital dünyadaki ortaklıklarını fiziksel olarak taşıyacağına inandığım için çok da doğrusu yenilikçi buluyorum.

I find it quite innovative because I believe that environments of this kind will physically carry the partnerships of this generation in social media or the digital world.

O yüzden çok gönülden destekliyorum. Kendimize alan alanlar, sınırlar yaratmak yerine sınırları kalkmış, istediğimiz gibi bir alan oluşturacağımız bu özgür ortamlar beni çok heyecanlandırıyor.

That's why I support it wholeheartedly. I'm very excited about these free environments where we can create a space as we wish, with removed boundaries, instead of creating boundaries for ourselves.

When I spoke with the candidates we were considering working with, the candidate would ask me this as they were leaving. Can I learn exactly what my job description is?

Mesela bu soru beni yıllarca rahatsız ediyor. Aslında toplam kalite yönetiminde iş tanımı diye bir ifade vardır.

For example, this question has troubled me for years. In fact, there is a term called job description in total quality management.

Jump description değil mi? Bu her yerde var. Ama beni ki ben çok yaşını almış da biriyim. Beni hep rahatsız etmiştir. Neden?

Isn't it a jump description? It's everywhere. But for me, who is quite older, it has always bothered me. Why?

İş tanımı sormak şudur gelir bana. Bana sınır koy. Beni çiz.

The job description asks me this. Set boundaries for me. Draw me.

However...

Halbuki hepimiz kapasitemizi daha bilmiyoruz. Ne kadar sınırlarımızı zorlayabileceğimizi bilmiyoruz.

However, we still do not know our full capacity. We do not know how much we can push our limits.

Ama daha ilk andan bana sınır koy dediğinizde zaten onun için de hareket ediyorsun.

But even from the very first moment when you said to me to set a boundary, I was already moving for that reason.

But interviews like this always make me think from the other person's perspective, meaning yes, I don't want to take too much initiative.

Most of us hid behind this and could not unleash the potential within us.

We couldn't gather the courage. We hid behind him.

However, I sometimes realize that there are treasures within me that I have not yet discovered at my age.

Yes, there are encounters in these kinds of areas that you may never have thought of.

Bu alanların bu karşılaşmalara vesile olması da çok kıymetli ve o eğitimin yaşam boyu süren tarafını çok besleyen bir şey diye düşünüyorum ben.

I think it's very valuable for these fields to serve as a catalyst for these encounters, and it truly enriches the lifelong aspect of that education.

Ankara'da da buna benzer yerler vardı ama bu kadar sosyal alanı fazla daha biraz göze de hitap eden estetik kaygı da gütmüş bir yer görüyorum.

There were similar places in Ankara, but I see a place that has more social areas and has a bit more aesthetic concern that appeals to the eye.

That really made me very happy too.

The fact that everyone has their own office is actually the same situation in terms of consumption.

But we need to ask both the architect and those who build the technical infrastructure how environmentally friendly this area is and how climate-friendly it is, technically speaking.

I want this place to produce innovations in both entrepreneurial and idea-related senses for Ankara in very new minds; I want it to generate them.

But most importantly, I want social innovation to emerge from here.

Now the world is discussing Society 5.0.

In 2017, the Japanese Prime Minister announced Society 5.0 for the first time.

Böyle mekanlardan artık sosyal bilimlerin sosyal inovasyona çıkmasını doğrusu bir eğitimci olarak çoğaltıyorum.

As an educator, I truly advocate for social sciences to emerge as social innovation from such places.
